Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Official Teaser Trailer #2

I have been so nostalgic about Star Wars all day. I grew up on the prequels and still remember lightsaber battles with my brother with our plastic, glowing lightsabers in the backyard after dark and coming back in with bruises haha. LEGO Star Wars sets, video games, Halloween costumes...

It's so fun to see the release of films that will define the childhoods of so many kids right now and in the future, just like the original movies did for me.

Star Wars is back. Hell yes.

I would imagine it plays out that the immediate turmoil caused some disruptions in the chain of command while Senior leaders tried to figure out what happened at Endor. Tatooine and Naboo might get a shot at breaking free due to their place in the Galaxy but its very likely Senior Command finally gets word from Endor and then Kicks the shit out of the Celebrators on Coruscant.

I would guess for the first few years after endor there was a civil war for power. Moff's becoming warlords of there little sectors fighting for power with others till someone strong came along and united them all together.

You mean the voice overs that are pulled right from the same movies you say it doesn't feel like?

The "Chewie...we're home" line may not even be in the release version of the film.

The only other lines in this trailer were from Luke, which were just his lines taken straight from ROTJ, albeit slightly retouched and reordered.

Wow, okay, so I guess it's been a while since I've seen the original trilogy because that didn't register at all. Check mate for you guys on that one.

I still dislike the way it was delivered, though. Similar to the first teaser, it just feels out of place in the kind of pulp Star Wars has been established to be.

So in the spirit of hype for this and seeing as my wife's never seen Star Wars, we made a pact that she'll watch Episodes 1 through 6 with me in preparation for Ep.7 if I agree to watch all the Twilight movies with her. I feel I'm going to regret this lol.

Yes that includes the prequels which I still liked.

Honestly, Attack of the Clones and bits of Revenge of the Sith aren't far off from Twilight quality in wooden romance performances and gaps of logic, so you and your wife will be sharing reactions across the two.

Those films aren't too bad in that they don't leave much of an impression. Hell, make an internal game of jokes about it to push you through.

There's one shot above all in the trailer that I love, which is when Finn rips off his stormtrooper helmet.
Boyega does a really good job selling it there how upset Finn is over the massacre of the villagers, and you can see the blood stains on his helmet from when his friend touches it before he dies. I assume this is right before he vomits.
Looks like he was a good choice.

Not the biggest Star Wars fan in the world, but this just made me sweat in a good way! I guess I need to re-watch the trilogy to get a better appreciation of the franchise.

Am I the only one who thought the bit with Han Solo at the end was terrible?

It just felt so hokey and pandering. And it doesn't seem like Han has developed as a person since the last movie despite having been through a war, led an army, and probably started a family. I mean, this guy's been wearing the same outfit for 30 years.

I liked everything until the Han Solo bit.

I'm annoyed they're forcing the old actors into the movie because I think the rest of it looks amazing.

It's three seconds and he's not wearing the same outfit. I'd hold off on jumping to conclusions based off a single line.

This movie is going to have OT pandering out the wazoo and then in 10 years we'll all look back and be embarrassed. J. J. is trying to win back the OT purist crowd and while people will hail the movie as a return to form, there's inevitably going to be a blowback.

I feel like there's an entire generation of people who came of age in the Prequel era who didn't get a proper chance to become a fan (not certain you are that, but your post just got me thinking....)

As someone who fell in love with the movies before the prequels, the prequel era was like "dude you gotta check out Star Wars, but ignore this and this and this and this...."

Now it feel like it's back to the franchise all us old school fans knew it was. An epic adventure for people of all ages that you can take seriously.

You got all this from half a sentence...? Surely you jest. I think you're commenting on his jacket and literally nothing else.

Very accurate actually. I always know about the popular things about Stars Wars such as Darth Vader, lightsabers and etc when I was younger, but I was unfortunately raised with the prequel trilogy and not given a chance to actually experience the original trilogy until much later in my teen years.

Also, is Finn the main character? I'm just curious :)

I just want to thank my father for showing me how awesome the original trilogy was growing up in the late 90s. If my dad wasn't a huge star wars / star trek fan I'm not sure I would have turned out to be such a big star wars fan myself.

He loves his ship, dude. Jesus. Wasn't that apparent in the first three movies?

And yeah, Star Wars has always been hokey. Ever since day one. This fits.

I always found it frustrating because I knew that if I were a kid in the prequel era, I would have never liked Star Wars. I was an iconoclastic kid and even at 10 years old, I hated pandery cartoon characters making fart jokes, badly acted romance, etc.

I liked Star Wars as a kid because it was this "mature" adventure, with a personal spiritual journey, military conflict, etc. It was a real genre film series you got into like Terminator or Aliens.... but the prequels made it seem like it was just an embarrassing fantasy show for kids and nerds.

I think we're getting back to what it was.

Probably, yes. Him along with Rey and maybe Poe Dameron (the X-wing pilot) are like the new heroes of Star Wars, with the old characters passing the torch to them in this new film.

PERFECT teaser. Perfect.

Now all they need to do is have a real preview trailer that doesn't spoil everything and they'll have stuck the pre-release marketing.

Seriously though if the actual trailer spoils ANYTHING I will cut a bitch.

My first Star Wars film was Attack of the Clones. I remember I had even gotten that shitty Jango Fett PS2 game. Revenge of the Sith was my favorite for a while (so much action!) until I was older and could appreciate the original films. I was suprised by how well the OG trilogy held up.

Empire Strikes Back is my favorite now.

I made a similar pact with the devil - but I had to sit through a season of Sex and the City..
