The trailers and marketing for Terminator Genesis are a joke. If they had any brains they would use the essential bits and essence of the the first 2 films what made terminator a success. Which Disney and Co are doing with Star Wars.

This 2nd teaser, they hit the nail on the head. Huge Wreckage from Jedi, Ending with Han and Chewie, Infinity out of infinity!

Foaming at the mouth for the first full trailer.

I absolutely NEED to know what kind of scorcory is being used on that practical R88. That is magic. I won't believe otherwise until someone either cuts it open or explains how it can be real.

I have no nostalgia buttons being pushed as I don't really like Star Wars but damn most shots in the teaser look better than everything in the prequels.

This is how I feel. I've always liked the designs of the robots/vehicles but I don't really give a shit about anything else. But the more I think about it the more excited I am to see this.

The Force is strong in my family, my father has it, I have it, my sister has it, you have that power too. The way your dad looked at it, the Force was your birthright. He'd be damned if any Sith gonna put their greasy hands on his boy's birthright, so he hid it, in the one place he knew he could hide something: his ass. Five long years, he wore the Force up his ass. Then when he died of dysentery, he gave me the Force. I hid this uncomfortable piece of power up my ass for two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family. And now, little man, I give the Force to you.

Why the hell does the empire still exist? Anyone care to speculate? Makes me feel like the original trilogy and return of the jedi (which gave the sense that the empire had been totally defeated). was for nothing. I think the rebels will be a huge power as well.

Why wouldn't they? They controlled most of the Galaxy, not like they would just vanish because a power vacuum happened at the top.

I don't think you realize just how large the Galactic Empire was in 4ABY. They still had fleets of thousands, and millions upon billions of personnel. Doesn't surprise me at all that they're still around and kicking.

So in the spirit of hype for this and seeing as my wife's never seen Star Wars, we made a pact that she'll watch Episodes 1 through 6 with me in preparation for Ep.7 if I agree to watch all the Twilight movies with her. I feel I'm going to regret this lol.

Yes that includes the prequels which I still liked.

The OT only covered destroying Death Stars and Killing the Emperor. There's still a ton of Military all over the place.

Or you can go with the idea of Cutting of the head only results in two more... Star Wars/MCU crossover! Hail Hydra!

You need to watch 50 Shades of Grey since that is technically part of the Twilight universe, being fan fiction and all.

That Might be worth the Horror of Twilight so you can have company for 1- 6 and then Episode 7 at the Movies. I bid you God Speed Good Sir! May the Force Be with you!

I'm very sensitive to the classic 30s serial style of Star Wars, and I think you can't possibly be judging this aspect right now. You'll have to see the final film to judge whether it's still in that style.

Sure, there are a bunch of dynamic shots, but I think it's fully fair to expect some of that from a modern update. They're basically the equivalent of the daring shots in the Death Star trench run in the original film, which in its day wasn't "classic serial" either.

The part that makes me agree with you is that one shot that zooms in on the Falcon mid-shot. That breaks the 30s serial style, I think, but they did it in Episode II already.

I think the final film will have paced dialogue scenes, cutting between locations with Kurosawa-style screenwipes and, playful John Williams melodies - just as in the original films. If the final film has modern action movie filmmaking techniques - shaky cam, overly dynamic camera movements, flashbacks and other plot devices not used in the original - then I'll be bitching alongside you.

I think I can judge it a little. I mean, unless if what they've shown is inconsistent with the rest of the film, then its fair to assume that the camera will at least be fairly dynamic throughout. The movement in the shots with R2-D2 and Darth Vader's helmet, for example, would be jarring dispersed among the fixed long and medium shots the series typically has used.

But you're right that it isn't wise to be jumping to conclusions so early. I have hope that they'll capture at least some of the things you describe.

The Twilight movies aren't that bad. They're very forgettable. Meanwhile you'll suddenly have your wife be a fan of a very awesome franchise along with you. She'll see the error in her ways and you'll just be out a few hours.

Words can't express how excited I am for this movie. I'm sorry for gushing. I'm not old enough to have seen the OT when they came out (Im only 27) but my mom took me to see the special edition theatrical run in 1997. I was 10 years old and completely fell in love with them.

To think, that this winter I am going to see Luke and Han on a theatre screen for the first time since I sat there almost 20 years ago is just....surreal.

Fucking bring it on.

Magnets and gyroscopic wheels, I'm guessing.

Looks cool as fuck.

Still cannot believe that thing is real and not CG.

Just the fact that they made it real shows you how deep their commitment to practical effects really is.

We have Boston Dynamics making robot dogs that can run and jump and not tip over but this, this is like... futuristic nonsense robot magic right here. And yet it's real.

Not necessarily, those planets could have broken free, but others remained loyal.

Yup. The Empire has loyal planets as well as controlled planets. Even out of the controlled planets, not all of them would be rebellious either. So much space that wouldn't even be aware of the death of the Emperor at first and still controlled by Empire military even after they could become aware.

Getting through Attack of the Clones is probably the toughest part of doing that. It took me almost 7 hours to get through it a few months back when I rewatched the whole saga.

Yea, hate that, seeing han solo and R2D2 again is a bad sign, star wars needs to evolve and expand on the universe, it needs to tell a completely new story and forget about old characters.

The main line films are about the Skywalkers and the people in their lives. Don't worry you'll your expanded universe in the spin-offs and books.

If they can figure out how to get a reasonably priced, functional BB-8 toy on shelves they're gonna make billions.
On top of the billions they're gonna rake in anyway.

I would imagine it plays out that the immediate turmoil caused some disruptions in the chain of command while Senior leaders tried to figure out what happened at Endor. Tatooine and Naboo might get a shot at breaking free due to their place in the Galaxy but its very likely Senior Command finally gets word from Endor and then Kicks the shit out of the Celebrators on Coruscant. Was always stated a good chunk of the Galaxy never felt the wrath of the Empire because they were The Core Part of the Galaxy and thus never really saw much difference between the Republic and the Empire. Would really not be much reason for a good chunk of the Galaxy to rebel while the Outer Rim dust worlds etc. would have every reason

Pretty much how it went in the EU.

Fun fact, the fireworks that you see at the end of RotJ SE were set off by sympathizers and those responsible were later executed by the Empire.
