I'm in the same situation.
While I've played around in Unseen and unlocked a couple of shortcuts already, I thought about tackling Cainhurst first. However, once I fought one of those blood-sack-spider ladies outside, I NOPED it back to the lantern and went back to Unseen. Maybe I'll just go back, book it to the castle and go from there.

The bottom notifier of the maximum bullets would be nice.

As opposed to the current one which covers the middle of the screen.

I did a similar thing. Just based on the enemies outside I though I was ridiculously under-leveled so went and farmed enough to up my stats by 10 or so. Came back and once inside
the castle
realized I shouldn't have bothered.

Anyway, I finally killed Defiled Chalice
Watchdog
. Didn't take me more than 7 tries because at some point, I decided to use all my damn bullets + Bone Marrow Ash, because fuck him.
 
Its incredible to me that if I hadn't found that path to the little cave in
The Forbidden Woods
(by the dog cages), and crossed the
poisonous lake
to climb the long ladders and emerge back by
The Clinic right at the beginning
; and then explored the area and found the
ladder to the rooftops
and got into the
rear of the Clinic
, I'd never have found the
Cainhurst Summons
and then interpreted where to go to get to the
castle
. I'd have missed out one this glorious
snowy location
! I haven't even got inside, I'm too busy getting my bum handed to me by those hideous bulbous long haired spider lady things (give me the creeps). I would have completely missed it. Amazing game, so much depth to the world.

My current list of objectives:

Go through
Cainhurst Castle
for a bit, see whats there
Level up
Go back and have another crack at
Rom
the big spammy swine.
 
Kind of sheepish to be asking this, considering that I'm towards the end of my NG++ run, but do I need to equip high arcane resistant equipment when I fight
Micolash? His star burst attack during the final phase always wipes me out.
I was able to easily solo him during the my first two plays, but he is crushing me during run 3.

There's a gate in the cathedral courtyard where someone stood near a lever with his back turned.


Looked like one of the large guys with the white faces.

exactly, as bad as that screen is i'd love to not have pick up notifications right in the middle of the screen every time, it's bad enough that when you lock on you have both a health bar and a glowing white dot coving your enemies face.....add in a pick up notification and it gets a little too busy.
the only option is full hud or no hud at all, seems a little stupid to me.
 
Hey guys, playing NG+ with +10 threaded cane and it breaks all the time. I dont have anything equipped that would lower durability, but maybe it's just based on the HP of the enemies? Or am I missing something? It never happened in the first playthrough, and I'd just casually repair as I go.

I can't go that far on a slay-fest without having to repair. I'm carefully considering what secondary weapon to upgrade (scythe or maybe chikage? I have the holy blade but want more).

Finished NG+, got to NG++, beat the father 10 minutes in. So much fun, lol. Will rush through that one to get the last story trophy & then the Chalice's get my full attention. Your reports here made me a bit vary, but I don't worry that much, will see. :D

It seems almost....

unfair that V. Attacks scale with skill. Seems like the only real option if you want to PVP

Well I only showed the ones I won at. I got killed plenty of times. Going for a V is just so much more exciting and I am playing this old school honor code. No BV's even if they are using them

Was mostly just referring to your V. Attack damage. I imagine the general meta of PVP will either turn into parry baiting or 1-hit-kill Cannon shenanigans.

Though I might be wrong. Haven't riposted a whole lot in PVP so the damage your doing might not be *thaaat* crazy but I know I never get near 1k with riposte damage.

Yeah you can get it really high stacking Runes. Still though when I see someone trying to Visceral me I switch to weapons and demolish them. You can vary your attacks enough to throw people off. I still haven't been Viceraled once.

There shouldn't be any NPCs in that area you could kill or any special enemies that wouldn't respawn. Could be some patrolling enemy that just didn't come back to that spot when you came back.

Great gifs! Are you invading in NG+ or NG? Or does it even matter that much. Last time I got invaded in Mensis I managed to run through the whole level without ever seeing the invader lol. The place is really big for avoiding invaders.
 
I don't really understand the chalices. I went through
Pthumeru Chalice and finished it. The Pthumeru root chalice has the exact same stuff. Is it the same chalice? I also have a central Pthumeru Chalice, Ailing Loran Chalice and Great Isz Chalice. Do I have to do all of them to get the platinum?

Root chalices are randomized versions of the Chalices. No need to do those if you just want to get the trophy. You need to do
all Pthumerian Chalices, Ailing Loran Chalice for materials and Great Isz for materials.

Just NG. It is huge! If I invade I run straight to the boss and then if they aren't up there I backtrack. Follow the bodies!
 
NPC question.

I forgot to
talk to Iosefka and the Cathedral guy before I got kidnapped so I couldn't tell Adella the Nun about a safe haven. I went out and talked to those two and when I came back she was gone. Is that the last I'll see of her?

Okay so you are probably on too low level for my first character to invade. Shame.

Yes if you do that Chalice. Chalices have bunch of bosses from the main game.

If you have enough insight you can buy Gascoigne set from insight store. It should work also.

I recommend you stay close to him and attack him as much as you can, his star attack killed me to but I managed to disrupt him when he was trying to that attack. I used ludwig sword.

I don't know how I unlocked it but you can probably buy the weapon he was using now. its like the flame thrower but its mist like arcane mist. I had a death like yours and I was like wtf.

As far as I understand the story...

First of all, no Amygdala is not the only great one. In general great ones are called great ones not because of their hight but because they are entitys of a higher plane with a deeper and greater understanding of the universe and existence.
In the end you indeed ascended and you are now a new great one, a small squid. Maybe you will grow, but at this point we do not know.
Many humans (factions) tried to ascend in the game but you are the first one who truely did.
There are also two kinds of 'extraterrestrials' in the game. True great ones like Amygdala, Mother Brain, Ebrietas or the Moon Presence and their kin like the celestial emissary(s), rom or even spider patches. Kin are related to the great ones but not of "equal power".
 
Beat ML and CE last night and got to Eb

this morning. I almost had him beat and then he one shot me with something when I was in close. After that I believe I am on to the N
ightmare
as I'm not sure where else I can go,.

You died because the enemies hit like a truck.

The best way is to just YOLO and sprint to safe spots as quickly as possible. The enemies de-aggro quite easily.

Amygdala
with the help of a summon.

I need to explore
Forbidden Woods
a little more to get all the things I missed.
