Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

Almost there. Only have
Moon Presence and some Chalice
left.

This game was tremendous. It had the same magic for me that Demon's Souls did. I absolutely adored Dark Souls, but in the end it has to go:

Demon's > Bloodborne > Dark
for me.

I do think BB is ultimately 'better' than Demon's, but it is impossible to compete with your first experience in the franchise. For example, nothing can compare to the Tower of Latria for me, it was just the pinnacle of environmental and creature design.

Love it, 10/10, would get a brain wipe to experience again from scratch.

On to the chalice dungeons! And unlike some others, I've actually enjoyed my time in the first 3 so hopefully this goes well.

Can we get
the scythe and the other weapons in the chalice dungeon without getting the vanilla? I don't want to get to NG+ just to use the scythe.

Supes spoilers but some guy tried a
hunters mark inbetween the gharmen and the moon presence fight and was able to play the game
forever with the scythe.

also sorry I don't know the answer to your question, that's good to know. anyone?

Ive beaten him with 3 different characters now and i never looked up to dodge the meteors. Just start rolling about 1 second after he throws em at you. Also 2 of the times that i beat him i killed all the spiders first, it takes a little bit longer but its much safer. The third time i used the cannon+Tonitrus and he was dead in 1 minute

Whatever build you're going with you should definitely grab the Tonitrus and upgrade it for this fight

Good advice, but I just used my axe

I don't see how that's even possible, I start rolling around and hope for the best as soon as he slams down and feels like luck whether or not I get hit.

I keep seeing people mentioning that weapon for this fight, but I don't have it and I'm trying to use guides as little as possible. Might have to break down eventually but for now I'm sticking with what I have.

I beat him first try with Ludwig's.
After fiddling with the spiders, I realized they seems too tough and too slow to worry about.

So I went in close and hit him till he teleported. Repeat till dead. i just stayed close to his side and butchered him. I did mostly ful charge attacks for what it's worth, and after each attack repositioned myself if i felt like spiders were getting too close and allowed my stamina to recharge.

I helped a buddy beat him and it was a bit tougher because i got hit by the missile attack, but rolling seemed to do well.

iirc i sprinted for a second before rolling to help avoid the missles. But solo, i was so close he rarely if ever fired.

God, fuck the Byrgenworth boss.

What in the fuck am I supposed to do when he summons the meteor attack when I'm right next to him!?!? It's so awkward trying to look up at the meteors while trying to run around the spiders you can't see since the camera is pointed straight up, and dodging basically feels like a crap shoot since there's not enough time to change course by the time you notice one is pointed towards you. I've got Rom down to the point where another two or three hits would have killed him several times, then been immediately killed from full health because he used the meteors while I was right on top of him.

From a distance I'm fine, just look up and weave around them, it's just when he used it when I'm close by.

Vicar Amelia was a sticking point for me too but that at least felt fair. When I finally beat her I realized I was wasn't being aggressive enough, and beating that fight felt like an accomplishment. I could feel myself getting better at the game.

Rom feels like fucking bullshit. You just don't have to tools to react when he uses it at close range. I feel like this fight isn't going to be satisfying at all to beat since I'll need to get lucky and either hope he doesn't use that move when I'm nearby or get lucky and avoid getting hit by sheer luck.

I "cheated" and looked up hints, apparently the thing to do is wait for him to attack, run in and hit him once or twice, and then run away. First, that's going to take forvever, second he sometimes uses two moves with not much time in between so that's not a surefire method anyway.

I hope they patch this like Capra Demon, there's already enough to worry about with the upward meteor attack, his pounding attack, is AOE move, and his spider buddies. Really no need for this additional move that required to look straight up. Patch it so he only uses the meteors when you're a set distance away.

Ugh, so fucking frustrating. Think I'm going to try another couple times and then shelf the game for a few days.

Rom telegraphs his "falling meteor" attack by rearing up. Once he does that, unlock, wait one second and start rolling.

If Rom rolls on his back and puts his feet up, a "rising meteor" attack is coming. Unlock, and run away, the rising meteor only affects you if you're at close range to Rom.

It's crazy how popular Ludwig's Blade is...I swear, probably about 60% of people I see are using it. I can't blame them, it's a great weapon. Just would be nice to see a bit more variety.

It's a beast. Its broadsword mode is great for stunning enemies. But I enjoy fighting with the saw a little more.

What's the fastest way to the One Reborn from one of the lanterns? I hate running past those skull things. They are terrrrrrrriible.

There's a shortcut. If you go up the stairs to your left as you're entering that last street before the boss, it'll lead to a birdbath saucer thing. This'll lead to an elevator shaft you can strategically fall down to get an elevator rockin'. Actually, now that I think about it... that entrance/exit is halfway up a predetermined path on that elevator. Do you even need to "unlock" anything? Couldn't you just roll off it half way and get there right off the bat?

Have someone join that isn't glitched I heard. That said can you not run over the plate again and roll off so that the next time you play it is back in the same position? I do that now just because of all the talk of the glitching and have never not had it there.
I havent tried co op thing but read it doesnt work. Switch thing does not work ughhh

For the people having trouble with
Rom
-- are y'all using Bolt Paper? Once I put electricity on my sword I killed it in like 2 minutes. Granted I died at the same time it did, but it still counted as a win for me.

go past the three hunters in the
"Gaol" area past the unseen chapel and take a left when you reach the open area where you first see the skull things. I always kill the pistol guys on the patio and the bell maiden because their easy, then go up the elevator (watch out theres a guy waiting in there for you) then do the drop down the elevator trick while it comes back down. oh yeah there is one of those portals the bowl of glowy water, inspect that and it'll take you to all the dead people in the walls and head over the bridge and kill the other bell chick. and your at the boss super fast.
I hope I got that right.

I love the absurd impracticality of hunting with the Logarius Wheel.

It's a beast. Its broadsword mode is great for stunning enemies. But I enjoy fighting with the saw a little more.

Yeah, it's so good. I pretty much always end up using it in new or difficult areas because it just outshines most of my other weapons in performance. But I think I also enjoy fighting with some of the other weapons more, so I'm trying to spice it up a bit.

Guys did I fuck up? I've just been looking around about this other hunter that I came across and it was Eileen the crow, who has quests attached to her right? Problem is when I first came across her I attacked like an idiot because I wasn't sure who it was. Now when I go back she keeps attacking me and I've just read that NPC's stay hostile if you attack them?

wow your way is much faster. I just figured once I made it to the 2nd lantern it would be better from there.

I suspect they only added the 2nd lantern because the area was so damn hard in play testing. The 1st lantern has the short cut to the boss like usual and you should always look around for places to step off lifts in these games!

Been taking my sweet ass time with this game. Took out R
om
. 45 hours and just took him out... lol. Seems like everyone has their own particular issues with this boss. I thought it was pretty easy, honestly, but at the same time it did take me 7 or 8 tries. I feel like I was dying to cheap stuff. Like wailing on the boss, then out of nowhere, get banged on by 3 jumping spiders. Tried a few different strats.

Tonitrus +6 with killing no adds, using beast roar. Almost worked, I got him to like 1/20 of his health once, and then he started doing some spam aoe blast junk, and flopping around whenever I got near him, and died. That really pissed me off...

The Hammer was too slow for this fight, I think.

Tried killing the adds, but it was too tedious. Just cba to do all that. They're slow, and predictable, and leave a wide open attack lane to boss. If the boss doesn't have any adds super close to him, u can basically get a full stamina bar of damage to make him port. If he does have adds, only take 2 swings, and gtfo there.

Eventually I just pulled out L
udwig's
Blade in extended mode, with the phantasm spell, and beat him in one try, without killing any spiders.

Also I don't know what looking up means to dodging on this fight, but I never did that, and I had to prob missing them by either rolling, or just straight up sprinting. There was a time when I got hit by the full duration of of the
ice missiles
, but with 30 vitality, and 2 of the stamina runes equipped, I really didn't come close to dying from them. Also
I think there's 2 type of missiles, one from above, and one below. The one from below is so easy to see when the water pools up, and is easily avoidable

My advise is if you're having trouble, simply try a different weapon.

I'm using L
udwigs blade

It scales with both strength and skill (a bit better with strength at lower levels), so your choice depends a bit on your second weapon of choice, I guess. If you only use LHS, maybe STR.

But you'd be missing out on the best weapon of the game, the
blades of mercy

Who am i kidding? it's the
cane

edit: re one reborn, thanks guys. I can't do that run without getting hit once or twice by the skull barf, so i'll try to get around them.

yeah your right, I did that lvl all backwards anyways I should have known. I ran like the wind to the 2nd lamp and then had to back track to find the goodies.

Good to see I wasn't the only person having trouble with Rom. I noticed I didn't have my best Arcane gear equipped and I didn't have the Arcane Rune equipped which increases Arcane defense. I'm going back in!

I'm on M
ergo's middle loft now in Nightmare of Mensis and there's an elevator that travels to the entrance of Micolash's boss fight. It's open and there seems like a roll that can be made. I've tried a few times and I've died each and every time. Has anyone else tried it? Is it possible? I assume so otherwise the elevator being open makes no sense.

Did anyone else find the last boss rather abrupt? After finishing
Nightmare of Mensis (which I thought was an optional online invasion world btw)
I was surprised to be suddenly fighting what I guess was ostensibly the last boss. I dunno, maybe it was telegraphed and I just wasn't paying attention, it's possible!

Anyway, I don't know if it's Souls fatigue or what, but I just don't have the motivation to go through NG+ like I did with the previous 3 games.

There's a window you can jump/roll/run into from the eleveator

It's funny, anything I see people hating on in a Souls/BB game that isn't obvious bullshit like the hippo
vacuum grab, is almost always my favorite stuff in the games.

Capra Demon boss fight. Upper Blighttown. Valley of Defilement. Ebrietas. Nightmare Frontier. Toxic dart guys. Invisible paths in Crystal Caves.

Hell, I'm even fond of Frenzy for duck's sake hahah.
I was 100% with you until you said Frenzy.

Yes the roll is possible and you will need to get through that doorway to
release mother brain and get the blood rock which allows you to lol a weapon to +10

Yup managed to do it on my own. I also discovered my most hated enemy in that area. Oh well, at least my Saw Spear is +10 now and I found some really nice gems there.

The gate password is the only thing so far that I can point out as being bad design.... literally everything else has been great

I thought so at first, but after going back through the Cathedral Ward for farming vials and taking care of some loose ends I found a note that says the specific location of the password.

Now finding the door itself was a devil-of-a-time.

I got insanely stuck...Ive been going in completely blind, trying not to read anything. I quite literally killed every boss
killing a boss only for it to open into Old Yarhnam sucked big time
and went down every road with that gate password being the only place left....and then suddenly I had the password and have no idea how I got it....i was looking through item decriptions and everything
The opening of the gate is fanfuckingtastic, however.

Yeah that was pretty great....and that whole area damn
this game is so big
