Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

So I managed to platinum this game. For me the Pthumerian Descendent in the Pthumerian Ihyll dungeon was the most difficult boss. I just can't dodge his attacks well.

Watchdog in Defiled was my favorite of the Chalice Bosses.
Descendant gave me problems as well. His attacks are so fast and if you can't parry, you're going to have a tough time. I noticed that dodging into his attacks worked.

Bloodletting Beast and Abhorrent Beast were my favorite.

So about that NPC on the roof in the forbidden forest...

I declined to send him anywhere and went about my business. After going back later on, he's nowhere to be found. Any idea of where he went, or is this more "lol better luck next play through" From bullshit?

He isn't important at all. Except if you wanted a
rune from killing him.

hey anybody know.

if I have a cursed gem that gives 19% attack up and -9% vs kin.

If I fight a kin enemy, does that mean I get 10% attack overall or is it a straight -9% overall to my damage with that 19% attack boosted to my attack stats.

Anyone who claims Discovery does not affect the rate of Blood Chunk drops is full of crap.

I did 9 (36 werewolve kills) upper cathedrals runs in a row with 0 chunk drops at 150 Discovery. I put on 2X eye runes and the very 1st run I did I got 1, the 2nd run I got 2(2 separate drops), and 3rd run I got 1.

That is three straight runs with a chunk at 300 discovery. After 9 straight at 150 with 0 chunks.

Kinda spoilerish but not really question related to the gem question above:

If I have a physicial up but beasts down gem, will I do less damage on PVP because of the beast penalty?

Ranged parries, how not to love this shit?

don't hate me, senpai

That's awesome. Was it in a Chalice Dungeon?

Yes in the Queen's dungeon.

Man, really flying since the Defiled Chalice layer 2 boss. All the way up to the Great Pthumeru Ihyll Chalice. Even managed to beat
Ebreitas
in Great Isz in 3 tries, after struggling so much
with her in the campaign
.

Don't tell me this Chalice is harder than Defiled.

So what's everyone's favorite weapon?

I'm not sure if I should drop 20k on Ludwig's Holy Blade or not.

Ludwig's Holy Blade has been my main ever since getting it. It's a beast. Just two hand it at all times, only swapping to its smaller form if I want to have the torch in my left hand.

I bought all the weapons that were available early on. Started with threaded saw which I really liked. Cain was fun, but felt underpowered. Soon discovered the axe was the best starting weapon, due to its wide area of attack and various horizontally sweeping moves. Fell in love with the Kirkhammer immediately, but it's so close to Ludwig's Holy Blade, with the latter being more versatile, bigger reach and faster.

I now rock the Ludwig with the Tonitrus as backup, the latter weapon being especially good on bosses so far. Have these two, the Kirkhamemr and Axe all at +6. Not found any blood chunks yet to get them higher.

Depends on your build and playstyle. This is my first souls game and I really disliked the slow, methodical combat of the older ones. I went with a skill + endurance build to play the game really fast and take advantage of the regain mechanism. I tried the Saw Spear, Blades Of Mercy and Ludwig's Holy Blade but I kept going back to the weapon I started the game with which was the Threaded Cane. It starts off a bit weak but the scaling advantage over the other starter weapons means it ramps up damage really quickly with a few early upgrades and skill points. It gets A scaling with Skill and in whip mode, you're outside the range of most enemies melee attacks and doing damage over a large area. By +7 you can one hit kill entire mobs in that mode. Whip R2 will automatically parry large bosses by locking on and reaching their heads opening them up to constant visceral attacks - I took apart Amygdala in less than 30 seconds using it. R1 attacks in both modes are fast enough to stunlock enemies as well as regain large amounts of health.

I'd try every weapon that fits your build regardless. 20k echoes are nothing and can be farmed really quickly. Upgrade materials are plentiful too (apart from Bloodstone Chunks and Blood Rocks).

No, Hunters are neither Beasts nor Kin.
Kin are pretty much all the slug/alien looking enemies.
Beasts, I'm not actually sure on the hard cut off for these enemies but I assume it's all the furballs.

I'm at the
Watch dog of the old lords
, defiled chalice ... It's impossible! Peace . lol

Have you fought it at full health in another dungeon? I learned the fight that way and now I'm working on the defiled version and it's hard as hell but at least I know the patterns now and usually feel like it's my fault when I die...

So I'm in my second serious playthrough - messed up a bit on some other ones - and I've just found the second shortcut in Old Yharnam. Had no idea it was there the first time through. Now that area is one of my favourites, because of how well implemented that is.

The one leading to the BSB? Yeah it's incredibly useful.

DAMN! Who was that corpse eating
dude I just rolled up on
in the Forbidden Woods.
He looked fucked so I withheld the cathedral refuge knowledge
and opted to attack.
His skinny as went electric beast mode... I BARELY took him down.
Jesus! Was that a
boss
?

Congrats, you just defeated
the little brother of
the hardest boss in the game.

When I fought him I was overleveled, it wasn't even a fight. Now, this is just insanity. I still have to get the patterns down... This platinum is going to take a while :S

I was all worried going into the boss fight in
Forbidden Forest
since I slowly cleared the entire area and had a ton of echoes. I decided against my better judgement to risk it and..... god damn that might have been the easiest boss I've faced so far. Beat it on the first try and only used one blood vial. Parrying made the fight trivial.

About to face
Rom
, oh boy.

So is it bad to upgrade your stats sort of evenly? I feel like my health bar and stamina bar should be bigger than they are at the moment lol

I love the game's theme. IMO, the game turns into a completely different game in later half of the game. The beginning reminds me of Bram Stoker's Van Hellsing/Dracula/Castlevania theme with all the Victorian Gothic structures and clothing, and from werewolves, and bloods into HP Lovecraft's severely fucked up Cthulhu mythos theme. The later half of this game is just a pure mind fuck.

What is the
Beast
item good for?
It's a rune that boosts the beast transformation when equipped. You can get the beast transformation status effect from eating beast blood pellets. Sadly, it doesn't make you grow big and hairy.

Well, yes, but beasthood is our nature, and beasts were once human, so, even though it seemed quite unlikely, I had to ask :P

Thanks for the answers.

Can you farm insight/mad man's knowledge?

Multiplayer or just getting grabbed by frenzy hands several times would do it, I guess :P
