Batman v Superman [Official Trailer Release]

Everyone with a gun could kill Batman. If this is always in your mind, then you will never be able to enjoy superhero movies. They're fiction, goddamnit.

I really hope we a glimpse of Wonder Woman in the extende IMAX trailer on monday.

So we can finalize The Trinity.

I'm really hoping BvS ends with Wonder Woman walking into the Batcave, and Batman/Superman both nervously saying they invited her to the Justice League... then laughing insanely as Wonder Woman chases down a bat with her sword while yelling 'HARPIE.'

Superman instantly melts the tarmac with his heat vision that Batman is standing on and then rams him at 1000 miles a hour. Job done.

Or there is a gap in the mask on Batmans face. Superman instantly melts his face with his heat vision.

Such a stupid idea for a movie. There is no scenario I can see that Batman could defeat Superman unless Superman let him.
Yup, because Batman dying is definitely how the movie will end. Supes would totally vaporize a regular guy and not hold back because he doesn't want to kill him.

People really need to chill with the " bu bu but how can Batman stand a chance against Superman?!?!?" talk. I mean it's a damn superhero movie. I'm sure the movie will give a explanation as to how it will work.

Whether or not you like that explanation is up to you but chill out, suspend your disbelief and enjoy the movie.

The movie might suck but I know it's going to look awesome.

My bad then.

If that's the case why is it called Batman v Superman though? Just a way to get the two big superheroes in a coherent title?

Probs. WB probably pushed for both the names to be in the title for marketing purposes. I actually don't mind the name "Dawn of Justice". In fact, thats pretty much how I refer to this movie.

Two questions:

1. Is that Neil deGrasse Tyson's voice early in the trailer?

2. Since Affleck isn't that swole in real life, how'd they achieve Batman looking that huge? Padded suit? CGI?

Probably padded suit I guess but he did get pretty swole for the role...

Eh? It's not a "fan" film.

Fans want to see Superman kick butt and take names, not brooding over his past or whether Earth outgrew him.

Yep, Superman Returns is far from a fan film, its one of the reasons i really like it - as much as its great to see Superman go beast mode ala MoS, i much prefer the way Returns does things (its also why i like Hulk over The Incredible Hulk).

It was a fan-film in the sense that it was a 'sequel' to Superman by Donner, done by a die hard fan of that movie.
Actully, this makes sense.

Was Civil War really that big a threat that they moved this release to March? If Cap 1 had only come out, it would have been a no-brainer that Marvel would have moved their movie instead, but damn, that post-Avengers hype really has gotten things moving for them. Still, Batman vs Superman is a BIG thing and I think they could have overcome the release even if they had come out together.

I'm guessing it had less to do with Civil War and more to do with them releasing two in universe movies in one year and wanting each of them to have time to breath and stand on their own.

It's not really a threat but a film that would inevitably cannibalize sales because of viewers and reserved screens. And considering late March is emerging as a prime release period, they don't really care whether it's March or May and hence moved. I mean look at Furious 7 which is printing money and early April release. That Spring/Easter break slot is absolutely golden and I personally don't understand why many studios still prefer late May when it's super competitive and crosses with students' exam seasons etc.

Well people can go against each other even withoit any physical contact. I think whole point of movie is to see these to figures going against each other in every way possible, physically, mentally and morally.

WB never had any intention of keeping that date. They knew they were going to move it eventually and if they were stupid enough not to then Marvel would have. It makes no sense to have these two movies cannibalize their own sales like that. Especially when Marvel vs DC is an internet thing and the two companies are not actually at war with one another.

I'm guessing it had less to do with Civil War and more to do with them releasing two in universe movies in one year and wanting each of them to have time to breath and stand on their own.

Both films are about an All-American superhero not enamoured with politics having an ideological battle with a billionaire playboy superhero who wears a self-created suit of armour, and feature numerous other superheroes in the periphery who's loyalties are yet to be known, in the aftermath of a previous film which has untold destruction and changes the stakes for what a superhero is.

I'd say the right thing for everyone involved was to move those films as far away from each other as possible. This isn't X-Men: DOFP versus GOTG where they're comic-book films within completely different sub-genres: this is two very similar films (yes, they'll be different tone wise, but still) that were coming out at exactly the same time.

They'd cut each other off box-office wise if they opened at the same time. Despite Marvel's confidence, it's unlikely they'd have done a gangbusters opening the same weekend as BvS, and the same is true for BvS. This way they can both open mostly unopposed, make a lot of money, and everyone's happy.

And yes, BvS will make a shit-load. It might be foreign box office heavy, but it'll still make a huge profit.

So just how old is the batman in this film? I've been trying to stay away from media but fuck it. The suit is unreal, amazing. It screams Dark Knight Returns, even the metal helmet with the open mouth. So it seems this is taking a lot of cues from that comic (such as the rifle, the fat bat symbol, grey suit etc) In the comic, Superman was weak from a Nuclear bomb, and lack of sunlight from the ash cloud, plus Batman had Kryptonite... Cant really see them using any of that in this film to be honest. I wonder how they will handle the power gulf.. Fuck im excited for this movie.

Ben did get a lot bigger for the role but like Superman there is padding in the suit. Not a problem for me. Looks good. They're both big guys when they were filming so it's good.

The line "human beings have a horrible track record of following people of great power" is Henry's Clark Kent. Its something about the way he says "horrible" that reminds me of his American English accent. Also sounds somewhat like the normal Clark we heard in MOS but a little dorkier which is logical if he is in his Clark daily planet mode

Also someone pointed out something to me and I think they're correct. The line in the trailer ""human beings have a horrible track record of following people of great power" is Clark Kent. Sounds like Cavill for sure. I think it's a pretty strong possibility.

Superman wasn't bulky or gritty but Singer still managed to make him stronger than MoS. He would rarely flex; he just had an innate power to him; a confidence.

I used to say this a lot: Synder's idea of power would be having a muscular suit whereas the Donner/Singer version would have him land gently and slowly; he had an aura.

You saw this and realised: SHIT'S ABOUT TO GO DOWN.

Is 'shit going down' supposed to be X-ray stalking Lois or getting the shit kicked out of him by Kumar? :p
