Here's a game that looked interesting, realtime local versus Minesweeper with a bit of an RPG twist. You run around the board and place gems on "mines" to get mana, then attack with your mana. I'll have a video or review out around launch probably.

ManaCollect - $7 PC (Steam)
ss_96eb92b7e52e9d988b000a73eb47df123bd75d92.600x338.jpg

http://store.steampowered.com/app/335200

ManaCollect is an action packed take on the classic Minesweeper as an action/puzzle game. Two contestants compete on a grid based arena to collect hidden mana by following numbered hints and unleash special attacks to drain their opponents mana.

Are we supposed to include official text or our own description of games when we post these? Also, I guess games like this count for this thread right? Localized game of a Japanese independent dev.

And this bad boy!!!!

Titan Souls - $14.99 (WIN/MAC)

Nice, I liked the jam version so I might try the demo.

My Quick Look on Lux Delux:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDlfZjcS-k8

6ZbUW4Z.gif

Quick Impressions: It's RISK with a ton of options and, as of last night, around 1200 user generated maps. It does support cross platform multiplayer, but only with desktop OS (PC, Mac, Linux). The mobile builds (iOS and Android) do not have the ability to play multiplayer with the desktop.

The Steam overlay can make things glitchy, but you literally just have to minimize the window and maximize it to fix, but it's few and far between.

Postal 2 DLC just released on Steam. Looks like a full, new game instead of just some new skins and a map. I know the base game has always been polarizing due to the intentionally offensive content. I support RWS because of that. They do a good job of showing that indie developers do not need to bow down to the demands of larger studios when trying to get content out. Yes, they took a very strange path to do it, but I'm not easily offended so I appreciate it.

Not from this month but Dungeon of the Endless is an incredible tower defense game. The music works pretty well on setting the mood, artstyle is great and it has some nice sense of humor.

Swept me off my feet when I played it. I really don't do a lot of Tower Defense style games, but the huge meta-changes between ships and crews for DotE makes it a lot of fun. Even greater when you start finding characters that have backstories together which can lead to some really cool extra things happening like buffs.

I should probably not talk about it much or I'll convince myself to play it again and I won't see the light of day for a week. @_@

I had two characters with backstories together
Butcher and Sara
and it ended with Sara
being killed by him in one of the elevators

Posted about this in the steam thread but no-one reads my posts :p

Is it worth getting the crystal edition?

Homage to The Thing (John Carpenter) and Inferno (Dario Argento).

Early Access period is almost over. I'm aiming for a May 1st release.

For $4 extra it's not bad if you really love the soundtrack and want to listen to it outside of the game. The library pod you get changes up the gameplay so that nobody can get new weapons so you need to concentrate on amassing turrets and tech to keep up with the damage output needed to survive. The hero you get with the pack, Josh, has the highest Wit stat in the game, which is pretty much custom geared for the library pod's playstyle.

I like having the option there at least!

...wow <3

On a bit of a whim I got the most recent humble weekly bundle and for how low the beat the average is sitting at I can highly recommend it.

https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly

Shattered Planet is really the only dud in there and even that is okay, just a bit on a simple side for a roguelike. Frozen Synapse Prime is a nice advanced version of the original game, Skulls is a excellent fast paced strategy war game, Castle Storm is this silly hybrid of lane defense games and Worms with great local multiplayer and BloodsportsTV is this MOBA inspired tower defense game with weird visuals but great real active multiplayer scene. And of course Endless Space is one of the best space 4x games ever. I get a lot of bundles, but this one is the first one in a while that has really surprised me with the great quality of almost all the games on it, well worth checking out if you are interested in some left field strategy games.

Thanks for the heads up, already have most of those and was only looking into Shattered Planet.

Oh well, back to A-Train 3DS (really damn good, recommended if you have a 3DS) : http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1029328

Been busy with prepping for finals and working on a research paper. Did pick up Stealth Inc 2 so I'll have some impressions tonight or tomorrow
---
Door Kickers is coming to iPad next month

So I played about an hour of Stealth Inc 2 and feels like a marked improvement from the first. More story driven, more complex puzzles, new hazards and gadgets, and I'm enjoying the shift to an overworld.

Definitely worth picking up if you enjoyed the first game
---
Maybe old news but Kerbal is getting it's 1.0 release on the 27th.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-04-21-kerbal-space-program-finally-gets-1-0-launch-date

They added Female Kerbals!!!

I really have to play this again...

Been quite quiet in terms of the number of indie games being released on steam this month compared to the past few.

Had a look at the latest indie releases and a couple look quite interesting Wild Frontera & Bloodbath Kavkaz

Does Kavkaz mean Miami or Hotline in Russian? Will put up the correct formatting later tonight!!!

and I'm enjoying the shift to an overworld.

I'm still 50/50 with their choice to add that overworld in. On one hand I approach the adding of it in an effort to make the world feel more connected then just the level select that the previous game had. That said, too often it feels like nothing more then an excuse to have a two minute walk between puzzle rooms and I can't help but wish they did more with it. I'm still really enjoying it and it is a fantastic game, but the open world aspect of it was advertised to me as 'Metroid-like' in places and I don't think it quite has that level of depth.

Yeah, as far as I can tell, you can't use gadgets in the overworld, as calling it a "metroidvania" is misleading. But I like that the overworld has traps and enemies to avoid too, making traversal a bit more exciting

The Charnel House Trilogy - $5.99 (PC)

Witness The Charnel House Trilogy, the chronicle of one fateful night aboard a train bound for Augur Peak. Three thrilling, horrifying adventure games in one, from the depths of the Sepulchre, starring Madeleine Roux, Peter Willington, Jonathan Grier, Jim Sterling, and Ben Chandler as Grub.

Pretty sure I didn't see this posted, but I played through it yesterday and liked it a lot. Wasn't what I was expecting but in a good way. Definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of the developer's work, or just good psychological horror (the game is almost all narrative based, with just some minor adventure elements).

The monsters here aren’t demonic abominations, but twisted, disturbing people whose delusions are unsettlingly real. The Charnel House never presumes to be more clever than it is, but that only makes the plain evil and panic expressed by its characters that much more affecting. It struck a nerve with me the way no paranormal entity could, each line feeling like a raw plea for help when nobody is listening.

That Megasphere gif is so juicy! Yet another game for my watchlist.

With Ludum Dare 32 just finishing, there are 2800 new indie games to check out. Here are some of my favourites from the few I've played so far:

Endless hats abound in the Ultra Hat Dimension, a whimsical puzzle game where you are a protagonist that literally wears many different hats. Explore through the levels of the majestic Spluff Palace to find and defeat your arch-nemesis!

It looks like there are a LOT of good games this time around (but I always think that).

Oh, and I checked out Garden. Didn't get to play much, but I really like the art style. And congrats on being part of the Curve bundle. That must be exciting

Thanks! I think the gameplay is fun and challenging, too, but it's a bit obtuse. And yes, I think the Curve bundle is releasing on Thursday so I'm really looking forward to that!

The theme this time was "An Unconventional Weapon."

Just watched the video - that art style!!! man it really is cool - don't have time to give it a play tonight but will hopefully have more free time tomorrow.

Looking 4ward to Thursday :)

Spoke too soon: you do get to use gadgets in the overworld in Stealth Inc 2. Really loving the game so far, just reached the third group of levels. It's my favorite indie that I've played recently, which isn't saying much since I haven't had much time to play. Every puzzle is fun and challenging, the controls are tight, the gadgets are cool.
