Batman v Superman [Official Trailer Release]

The reason they're fighting is because WB/DC is getting their fucking asses kicked by Marvel and, as Batman is their only non-moribund superhero franchise, they're taking a page out of the Kevin Feige playbook by whoring him out ASAP (particularly now that they're no longer tethered to whatever "artistic integrity" that might have prevented it with the Nolan films) so that they might finally get this whole Justice League thing off the ground.

Not that I'm complaining. Took them long enough.

Still confused as to why Batman has beef with Superman.

While Superman wasn't looking, Batman slept his with his mom. Batman slept with Superman's mom. And that's terrible.

Also, he stole 40 cakes.

This movie will have very little crossover appeal. It is for fanboys and that's it. WB is never going to get that Marvel money as long as they keep up this dark and gritty approach.

I don't get why they'd be fighting. Seems stupid. What am I missing?

I really think what i said earlier is needed:

Someone versed in DC comics should create a thread to Show Batman vs Superman trough the Years in Both comics and Animated shows/movies with screen caps, references, and maybe some Background, The "How can Batman go against superman/Why is Superman fighting Batman/Its absurd that Batman has a chance against Superman so this movie is going to be a PoS" its getting repetitive and it pops up every 2 pages.

No one can touch Marvel now or forever. There is only one way to make money off comic book movies and they have perfected it. I don't even understand why WB/DC is trying at this point. Everyone knows Superman and Batman are niche characters.

How much money did Man of Steel make again?
More than most MCU movies, Iron man 3 avengers , guardians and winter soldier did better at Box office WW.

And dark and griti Nolans batman has the same amount of movies in the top 20 All time world wide than the MCU.

Yea you just named every b tier marvel property, other than IM.

Isn't the whole point of that cinematic universe to make everything part of the same tier?

What the hell is going on here? Why are we using box-office reciepts as a means to determine quality of movie? Why is this a Marvel vs. DC thing again?

(Captain America isn't B-tier, either. Especially considering people might honestly be anticipating his third movie more than Avengers 2 right now)

He started it.

You asked a question, Man of Steel sits in the top 100 top gross of all time.

The point is you're not setting a high bar when Superman makes more money than fucking Thor.

This is DC's answer to the Avengers and I'm saying their approach is all wrong. As long as Snyder is at the helm and as long as they continue with this dark and oppressive style they are never going to get there. Just my opinion

Hulk and Cap are B tier? What about the latest Spiderman? Is he B tier now because it didn't crack a billion? I just want to know the criteria .

Did you watch the whole movie tho? You seem to be in the know.

This isn't their answer to Avengers.

Need to add another one of Bats saying "How's that home planet?"

Batman looks really fucking good. Was pretty meh on man of steel but I'm hyped as fuck for this. Love the themes they're touching on and how it directly relates to the aftermath of MoS. Ever since Affleck came on board and Goyer got the boot I've been cautiously optimistic.

And thus this topic has inevitably divulged into a Marvel vs DC hell in a cell match with no shortage of fanboys.
It's been like that since page one. Every single thread related to DCCU is bombarded by negativity and fanboy wars immediately.

You mean like The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises?

Superman was a dead movie franchise before MoS, Avengers is not sitting in the Top because it isnt Gritti and Dark, Avengers was something that started with Iron Man, a plan that was done correctly and paid off, I liked every single MCU movie, but in terms of Gross they act up as one, and thus all of the movies are sucesful because they feed on this well tought machine.

And basically all of the comic movie that tops MoS are sequels except for Spider Man and Amazing Spider Man.

How much money did Man of Steel make again?

Not the point. You said DC will "never make that Marvel money."

All numbers worldwide gross:

Batman Begins (coming off the abysmal Batman and Robin, so nobody knew what to expect): $373 million
The Dark Knight: $1.005 billion
The Dark Knight Rises: $1.084 billion

In fact, if you remove the Avengers movie from recent Marvel Studios output, only the latest Iron Man competes with the latter two Batman movies.

Iron Man: $585.1 million
Iron Man 2: $623.9 million
Iron Man 3: $1.215 billion
Thor: $449.2 million
Thor 2: $644.8 million
Captain America: $370.6 million
Captain America 2: $714.8 million
Guardians of the Galaxy: $774.2 million

Now yeah, if you add those up, the numbers are massive. But again, that's not the point (especially since we're comparing the grosses of three movies to the grosses of eight).

The point is that, on a movie by movie basis, Batman has absolutely stood up against the bright and cheerful Marvel universe.

Oh, and Man of Steel: $668 million dollars. Not really something to sneeze at.

Also, i don't understand how so many people are confused about how/why batman could fight superman. Isn't this a conversation every 13 year old boy had with his friends ("who would win, batman or superman") and then settled by either reading the comics where it's happened or looking it up online?

When Batman v Superman makes 1.5 billion let's have a talk
