So what's the general consensus about the trailer?
Also the more i watch trailer the more i like it
It's not a "Wow" sort of teaser, but the more you watch it, the more details come out which you couldn't catch all on a first pass. I'm enjoying it more on repeat as well.
What this guy said, but with the add-on that releasing it so close to Episode 7 probably hurt feedback a tad.
There's the emotional intentions of the two too. TFA teaser 2 is all about warm nostalgic fuzzy feelings... old dialog, old things, old friends with a new exciting adventure presented at a total fan-fest. Its goal is to make you feel everything is in good hands and going to be all right with the franchise.
BvS teaser 1 was forced to release but tonally intended to set a mood of intrigue and unease, to set the stage and stir questions. TFA teaser 1 was also rather dark, didn't move the ball as much in terms of setting the stage, and had a similar ambiguous ominously dark and unsettling tone (an anxious anxiety of breathless people all on the move) to start questions. Neither was meant to make you feel warm or fuzzy, but put you off balance. Cuts without context, glimpses to tease.
BvS teaser 1 arguably did that better than TFA teaser 1, but because the visceral emotions aren't innately pleasant compared to warm fuzzy nostalgia, there is a dissonance for some which unfairly put BvS on its back foot.
All that said, we're 11 months out. It's not a big deal.
The main purpose of the teaser to show fan engagement and it's through the roof. Even with piracy, controversy, etc. BvS is tracking incredibly well, even in TFA's shadow, and those are the metrics the WB needs to finalize its marketing and licensing partners in the next six months before the release of the film.
There's probably going to be a little bit of a second rally after the IMAX screenings too.
