We need a "pull shirt open to reveal S" emoji for when a poster shows humility and grace but TOTALLY PWNS another poster :P

Hell yeah. I've never been a superman fan but I always see the movies. Love that metahumans have been around for 300 years in gunns vision. That's gonna make for a weird ride.

Absolute superman is great too. Got the DC comics app for this new Absolute line and I recommend it to anyone who's slightly curious

I use the Marvel and DC App to read their stuff

I heard lot of good stuff about the Absolute Line, I'll definitely check it out

Batman and superman are great. Everyone loves the wonder woman and maritian manhunter lines but I haven't tried those yet. The art for maritian looks retro

Tried to add an image but not working

When it comes to Superhero comics I prefer Marvel but I do read DC

For later this year I'm reading all three Batman White Knight Miniseries, Grant Morrison Batman, Grant Morrison Superman and Grant Morrison Green Lantern. I have read Grant Morrison before and love his stuff

I just hope I like the non Batman titles since I have tried to read outside of Batman and those comics weren't my thing

I have read Supergirl Woman of Tommorow a couple of months ago and I thought it was OK

Guys, it's over. Another terrible clip. Bad acting, weird camera shots, goofy dialogue.

Better buckle up because this movie is going to be a dud, it won't save DC and Gunn is in trouble.

Oooooooffff.... no that ain't it. Maybe in context it can work, but that just looks... ruff.

I first only watched that video without sound and thought it was over the top and not like Superman at all.

And then with audio I learned that it was about the dog. You NEVER mess with someone's dog. NEVER! Go Supes!

Don't mess with Superman's best friend.

Some of y'all complain and see negative about anything!

Humor mixed in with action and drama? That's never been done well befo... Oh! Yes it has ... Guardians of the Galaxy had that in spades and did VERY well at the box office three times!

The original Superman had some humor. The goofy guy with Lex Luthor and his Lady friend.

I think if there is an issue it is Superman being very emotional. He is normally stoic, and thoughtful, not your redneck neighbor breaking stuff for answers.

Superman is anything BUT stoic. That's Batman's thing.

Superman in the comics IS emotional and when he's angry, watch out! He's not unstable but he'll fight for those he loves. He loves Krypto... And knows Lex has something to do with it... Hence his emotional outburst.

I read all star superman last month after all the hype i had seen for years...its good. Like you I've primarily read Batman over the years. But the app is great for me and DC stuff comes out way quicker than marvel books on it

Batman is Broody.

My point still stands tho. Superman isn't stoic. He wears his heart on his sleeve.

I find him emotionally reserved and under control. His dad taught him to control his emotion. And then one dumb version of his dad chose to die in a tornado because they couldn't afford to pay Costner anymore.

LoL! Yes, he's in control of his emotions but he isn't a hard to read man. I can show you plenty of panels where Clark is visibly emotional towards people attempting to commit suicide, angry towards those who willfully hurt the innocent, concerned for the well-being of others, etc. Being in control and not losing control is not the same as not showing emotion. He has an emotional intelligence a lot of male characters in comics wish they had.

Damn, that is really bad.
If I didn't know better, I would have tough it was a scene from Superman IV.

I hope I like the Grant Morrison stuff because outside of Batman, I haven't liked anything else from DC so far. I'm hoping to read Hellblazer and Alan Moore Swamp Thing Run this year

I use the Marvel Unlimited App a lot and I came across lot of stuff I actually love in comparison to DC. I'm still gonna to read DC, since I'm not sure outside of Batman, I'll most likely find something I love

It's a tiny clip.

But so far there have been two clips and his outbursts are a little much. I guess dog is one thing. I think its the direction as well. He has an immature way, but I guess he's still early days here?

Also agree with above, Rosenbaum would've done this, and the part, better. The guy is a good actor elsewhere but so far not convinced with his Lex.

Looks like a high budget TV commercial.

I hate what's happened to cinematography in the last 15yrs.

Let's face it guys. That clip is terrible. lol. It's like a kid yelling at his mom and dad where's the family dog and dad says he gave it to a shelter.

Maybe new Superman is an ultra angry guy who will kick everyone's ass like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

To be fair, I saw bits of Superman 1 skimming movie channels weeks ago. When Lois was killed in the earthquake, he goes ape shit mad and turns back time. I've only seen most of his movies (didnt see S4) and never read any of his comics or even that Lois and Clark show with Teri Hatcher. I dont remember much of his temperament in any of them except in general he's pretty chill. Clark Kent is a nerdy guy and Superman is pretty controlled even in crisis situations. That angry turn back time moment sticks out, and getting mad while snapping Zod's head in MoS.

Will be interesting to see how often Superman acts psycho mad in the whole movie.

Seriously, Superman can definitely get angry. But nothing in the clip suggests he was about to kill or even hurt anyone (unless a desk counts as a human being, LOL). He's just trying to be intimidating while Luthor pretends to be ignorant as to why Superman is upset.

This Superman is definitely disappointing. With everything we know and what we've seen between the leaks, the trailers, the clips and the promos, I'll say it loud and clear: Tyler Hoechlin is a much better Superman than David Corenswet. And Superman & Lois past season 1 was crap but at least Superman is very well done.

I'm not even talking about Cavill, let alone Reeve. The rest of the cast is ok-tier even if there are no big headliners and we can question the abundance of characters. Big mistake on Superman tho, David has zero charisma and it's the same for Lex. Nicholas Hoult has the look but as soon as he speaks it's over I don't believe it for a single second.

I don't like the costumes at all, ok it's complicated to come after Michael Wilkinson but still, Superman looks like an idiot. And the army vibe on each character was not obligatory, he had the perfect opportunity to make a costume in homage to Reeve and bring back the spandex (you only have to look at photos of Reeve to understand that it is possible you just need the right actor (and it's not David)) and modernize it a little. Not this garbage...

The rendering of the powers is also... questionable, the fisheye effect for the flight scenes is always ridiculous and the black eyes that persist when he uses his heat vision is terrible.

All you've seen are out of context clips of scenes and the movie's not out yet ... But you've already come to a conclusion...

Just wait til the movie comes out and watch it.... Come to a conclusion then.

But I heard somewhere (or read, rather) that that flying shot isn't in the movie (you know the one). I think it was on DC Studios Showcase on HBO Max when James Gunn was on.

I liked the clip of Superman confronting Luthor over the missing dog. I felt tension. It wasn't TDK Batman/Joker tension but I still felt it. Maybe I'm just hopeful and easy to please.

I think that's it. It's not intimidating enough and he comes across tantrumy instead. Maybe that's intentional. But it's one isolated clip. I'm still gonna watch the while thing soon.

The clip was alright, I think it plays in to what he says in the trailer in that he's human and so gets scared, angry etc. Still looks good imo.

Don't bring common sense into this thread. We don't want that here. Also he's only starting out in his superhero 'career' so this outburst makes sense.

Everyone looking for a mature calm and collected Christopher Reeve like interpretation of the character is going to be sorely disappointed and its not like Gunn hasn't been open about the fact that this is the character in his early days.

Is superhero a career now. I thought it was more of a lifestyle brand.

I think this is the most human and personable I've ever seen Superman, and I really like that. And I think in terms of getting the character to be popular again, and relatable to the average person, this is the correct route to take.

'Lex I tried to stop him'
Thats harsh...damn.

Is so difficult to get a serious super hero movie those days? Batman Dark Knight was spot on.

The idea that Superman is furious but still entered the building through the front door and walks to Lex Luthor's office only to demolish the door instead of just flying up and bursting through the wall is ridiculous.

Did he take the elevator to the 50th floor? It's just bad writing.

I remember the cartoon Super-man just look at Lex from the window while he is flying.

Doesn't make much sense entering at the front door unless you want town folks atention to the matter.

I like it when Superman gets angry, but that clip made him look childish and weak.

Superman from the animated series would have handled Lex a lot differently. Bruce Timm/Paul Dini, where are you! :messenger_weary:

You might want to rewatch the DCAU, they had Superman go much further. Honestly I disliked how far Lex was able to push and manipulate Superman to the point he attacked Shazam/Captain Marvel and got called out for it at the end of that JLU episode. And I never felt Superman got to redeem himself from that moment afterwards, heck, it's Lex who saves the day in the series finale!

The DCAU was mostly solid, but it had some noteworthy flaws: Batman was sometimes OP (a basic Batarang knocking out Sinestro of all villains is ridiculous), Superman never got to develop his relationships much, Wonder Woman was poorly handled (Timm and Dini even admitted this), all the other Green Lanterns either barely appear or don't even make an appearance, Supergirl just leaves everyone who cared about her to be with some guy she knew for a few hours; Beyond is cool for Terry but it completely 180s Bruce's development in JL/JLU in order for it to happen, etc.
