Finally platinumed this on Sunday. I really enjoyed the fluid and fast battles. I love that when surrounded by enemies that a nice sweep with the axe can refill most of your health, a practice that would guarantee death in DS.

The dungeons were okay, but I had to do them in parts to relieve repetition and by the time I finished them I was at the end of NG+, which I am sure made them easier. Some great bosses in there though.

I have traded the game in as I want to enjoy other things over the next few months. I will go back in once the dlc or GOTY edition comes out.

Anyone else feel similar?

Trade it in?
Wha?

So, I was going to go for a Bloodtinge build for my 2nd char but now I'm doubting between this or Arcane build.

Cons of Bloodtinge is mainly being locked to just the Chikage, and also I don't know how harsh is the HP reduction of it.

About Arcane, I liked DEX/INT-FTH for weapon buffind and some magic but for what I saw the buff in this game is pretty weak and also the Burial Blade and Blades of Mercy (the weapons I would like to use in this build) aren't buffable at all. Then there's the elemental gems but I don't know how viable they are compared to just Attack gems...

Anyone tried both builds?

It definitely feels to me like the experience is more "over" once you finish it in NG+

With dark souls, because as an rpg is more deep, I always wanted to go back and tried different things.

Personally not going to trade it, I still enjoy the combat and maybe I will try some challenge runs in the future.

Jesus Ebrieas was way harder then I thought. Couldn't get the timing down on the AoE missles. But then on my 7th try, she never used it and just kept belly flopping, allowing me to continue to use a charged R2. Weird. Anyway Margo and the last boss is it for me. Love this game

Still plugging away at it. all I have left is to defeat the final boss and the one in the Chalice dungeon. I might even end up with a Platinum trophy from this. Really enjoyed it and hope to see some DLC.

Can't be arsed with NG+ to be honest. Main difference is i just need to hit enemies more, because they've got more HP.

I'll wait for some DLC or patch update that'll improve pvp, but by that time I will probably sinking hours into the Witcher 3.

This is how I've played all the Souls games though; one play though has always been enough.

After I did everything with my main, i started a new character, focusing on guns this time. Reiterpallasch and Evelyn. Pretty fun.
I missed the stagger from Ludwig at first, but I'm nearing endgame already now, and it's been smooth sailing.

So I'm towards the end of the game (finally). Right now my options are:

1. Finish Unseen Village (at the 2nd lamp currently) and unlock Nightmare of Mensis.
2. Go fight Celestial Emissary and Ebrietas (all I have to do is unlock the door, already have the orphanage key).
3. Go to Cainhurst and (hopefully) kick Logarius's ass.
4. Go to Frontier and aim for Amygdala.

Which order would you guys recommend I tackle these last bits of the game in terms of what's more do-able difficulty wise? I believe I'm level 50 and I'm rocking the +7 Saw Spear.

Thanks!

4,3,2,1. I did the Areas in this order ^^

1. Amygdala
2. Cainhurst
3. Emissary/Ebrietas
4. Unseen Village

That's how I did them and how I view them in order of difficulty. Also don't be afraid to come back to
Ebrietas or even Martyr Logarious
as IMO they're probably the hardest bosses in the game (outside chalice dungeons).

Yesterday I beat the
headless blood-letting beast
. Boy was that a tough fight, but only took me 5 or so tries. That asshole doesn't give a lot of space for a hit.

Just slaughtered 2nd boss, Paul's grandgrandgrandfather, Gascoigne!

2 and 3 are considerably harder than 1 and 4 IMO. Not sure whether that argues for getting them out of the way now or saving them until you've leveled a little more.

Amazing how much better you get at the game after your first run. I finished my first run at 42 hours with all bosses beat except for
MP
. I started a NG with the intention of trying out a bloodtinge build and I'm 10 bosses in at a little over 12 hours. I'm not trying to rush, I'm being thorough in my exploration and trying to do all of the optional content, it's just the experience of seeing everything that's helping me out. It's a very rewarding feeling in its own right.

Cool, thanks guys. I guess the rumors of the frontier being crazy hard has scared me away from exploring it, but I do have it's lamp unlocked for when I'm ready.

Grats on platinum! But no, I don't understand getting rid of a game that you intend to play again later.

I'm half way through NG+ and stopped long enough to get bored of the repetitive chalice dungeons and start on Dark Souls II, but otherwise I'm taking more time on this second playthrough, making different choices than I did the first time, picking up things I missed before, etc. It's certainly my favorite game and probably will be for some time.

Have we heard details about any DLC for the game?

Wait a minute, I already beat The One Reborn. Is there something else for me to do in Unseen Village? Do you get to Nightmare Menesis through there? I beat Amygdala last night.

It is quite difficult with some hard hitting enemies, hunters and poison swamps in spades but you can make a run to the main shortcut and amygdala fight in about 3 minutes then back track knowing the boss is then only 20 seconds away.

hint:
take lots of sedatives

Even with both shortcuts, it is one of the longest boss hikes in the series.

Uh, it's actually pretty short if you unlock both elevators.

Did you just unlock the first elevator, run through the woods, and through the gate opposite the boss path? That's definitely longer.

DeS alone had some rough boss runs, with tough enemies guarding the gates. Even the second boss in, you had a bridge run past a dragon, soldiers, and archers backing up blue eyed knights at the end to reach TK. Good times :)

I may just do that. This is how I basically proceeded through the woods portion. Just ran for it, unlocked the shortcuts and killed the boss.

Beat it this morning (never played a souls game before) and found it amazing. I ended up with the "true" ending I think people call it. Not sure I am ready for new game plus just yet as the game was a little mentally draining LOL.

That's one reason I found Bloodborne to be a less punishing, more enjoyable experience than Demon's Souls.

Oi the Nightmare of Mensis was tough! It was the first time bell summoning consistantly brought in new boys to the yard. Eventually however I cracked it like an egg and scooped up all the gooey treasure inside. It's also amazing for blood echo farming.

Mergo's Wet Nurse
is a phenomenal boss! Looks, fights, and feels fantastic.

Well, the hunt is nearly over...

Congrats!
Be careful, eyes are starting to grow in your brain.

As for me, I avoided this thread so far because I wanted to do everything blind.
I already beat it twice and started a new character. It's a mind screw type of game in the literal sense and I'm loving it.
This is probably my favorite From Soft game so far. For once everything was near perfect and they didn't compromise almost anything.
Loving it <3

I'm honestly finding Headless Bloodletting Beast in Pthumeru Ihyll the hardest boss in the game. I beat both Watchdog and Amy in Defiled on my second attempt for each of them, but this motherfucker is repeatedly kicking my ass. Any tips? I'm using Ludwig's +10.

Oh and I just remembered that I finished the Alfred quest. What a totally fucked up thing to happen! I did not expect that at all!

He was always so mild, so gentle, so chatty. When you give him the summons to Cainhurst he departs. When I used the lantern to go back to the Vileblood Queen he and his weapon is covered in gore. He used a Logarius Wheel to buff out the queen while she was on her throne! There are chunks of her in the seat and sticking to his wheel! He's was all laughing and talking shit to a mound of gore. I fucking love it!

Pfft, 1,243 wooden arrows and that guy WENT DOWN.

Hit em in the head (or where his head used to be) with an L2
Whenvever he starts his shooty thing get close for maximum damage.
This was my kill, also with Ludwig.

Now go back to where you first met him.

When he's doing his air aoe attack, run up and 1 hit him.

Get close to him (camera pans up). He will do 4 possible things:
1) If you move to close to his hind legs, he will do a foot stomp. Don't do this.
2) He jumps away. Repeat.
3) Jump and body pound. Just dodge back and run up 1 hit. Repeat.
4) Fist hand pounds. Dodge 2X toward right to his side, move toward his thigh, attack 2X and dodge back out. Repeat.

Once the worm comes out, don't be scare and stick to the plan.

I just beat him yesterday after 5 or so tries. I found the best move was the L2 with Ludwig - it really punished him. Granted there is really only one safe method to attack and that's when he shoots poison. Other moments are risky and you have to feel him out.

He's definitely tough though.

The hardest boss in the game is that fucker at the end of
Eileen's quest line

I found that fight a lot of fun!

For future runs of the game,
when she does that AOE spirit bomb star fall attack, simply run full sprint in one direction until all the stars fall. They'll never hit you.

You can take
her remains
to the altar where you fight E
brietas and resurrect her
.
She'll be back at the castle
