Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

Be patient, don't lock on and work each leg separately, this way once you topple him over you can quite literally beat the shit out of him. Pungent Blood cocktails are useful for giving you some breathing room.

Here's my run on him in a chalice dungeon, same strategy applies.

Nice, between the bad camera and useless 15 feet above the ground lock on spot it's one of the most frustrating fights in the game using Blades of Mercy, his legs are constantly moving and they're the only thing your attacks reach so you have to be really precise with your attacks.

And so the nightly hunt ends.

Any good tips on how to deal with the third Defiled Dungeon boss?
Amygdala is giving me trouble. I can bring its health down to about 1/3 without too much trouble, but I really have a hard time maneuvering around its attacks when it starts using the ripped out arms.

When that happens just run below his body, he won't touch you and you'll be able to hit his head, just stay below him. If he jumps stay still until he lands, then go below his body again.

Yeah, patience and precision is key with that weapon, making use of the dual wield R2 sweep helps give you some horizontal coverage for the legs.

Also, here's the defiled chalice watchdog fight

Personally I went back to one side and mostly behind him at that point and started literally nipping at his heels. It's slow going, but it's extremely safe compared to baiting him into throwing temper tantrums. He can't do much but stamp his foot petulantly in response, and it shouldn't be enough to kill you in one shot like his other moves.

Thanks guys, much appreciated! I kept trying to distance myself and bait out the attacks, but that never really worked. Gonna try and stick close next time when I try again tomorrow.

You know what can go fuck itself?

Chalice Dungeons.

You know what can double fuck itself?

Defiled Chalice Dungeons.

I've been tearing through them on NG+ to finish off my trophies and they are SO unfun it is unreal. I could at least make decent time through the normal ones, but the Defiled One? Holy shit. I breeze through the dungeon but the bosses, my lord, the bosses. It is so brutal.

I seriously hate Chalice Dungeons. There's no reward to doing them, or rather, the rewards for doing them are so rare and bullshit to be completely unimportant. You just get new parts to make new dungeons and maybe once in 20 years you'll get a fucking weapon you already have with a different gem slot.

Seriously frustrating.

Just complete them once and after that use other people's best Glyph codes.

I'm with ya on that. I need to take a break before jumping back in, because the defiled dungeons are really frustrating. Didn't really have too much trouble until here and now I get stuck on each boss for a few days.

haha what luck, i'll take it, just run run run run run run

ran past everyone and those skeleton fuse things and fought the boss and on my last bit of health killed it and ran asap to the light and back to my safe zone haha, what a rush

time to stock up .

Please fucking tell me there's a better way to kill the Amygdala in the defiled chalice dungeon -- so close to the plat, but i need to kill that mother fucker to get there.

Oh I plan on it. I just beat the Defiled one tonight. Stupid
Watcher
had to take me close to 25 tries when I normally killed him first time every time

A neat trick is once she's down to her final form, if you have a decent Bloodtinge, you can just lock on and fire a good gun at her head repeatedly with a Bone Marrow Ash for decent damage that will then drop her to a hidden 3rd Visceral Attack chance which if you connect with will kill her outright.

i know many will suggest staying behind her and slowly chip away her health, but this Chalice Amygdala is giving me alot of trouble due to her fast turn rate and screw up camera.

So what i did is staying in front of her and lure the headbutt/2hand front grab and hit her head 1/2x.
You will need to use up to down slash weapon. I am using Axe R2-R1 combo.
Only have to be careful with charge and blood spit and laser.
But you have clear view of her when in front of her, so all of those are easy to dodge.

If you don't find it fun, why do it?

I can upload my video if you think it will help. I really didn't have a strategic to kill
Amygdala beside baiting the head slam and attack it. Rolling through her attacks. And constant rolling when she does her jumping attack

I've been unlocked camera swinging at the dangling hand by it's leg and occasionly going for the head when it's near the ground, although sometimes she just goes nuts and has a spasm of arm swings. Watchdog was easier because it was always in frame, Amygdala is much much more difficult because it's had to see everything at once.

I've considered doing bone marrow ash with Evelyn pistol (or cannon maybe?) but you can't lock onto the bosses head, only it's torso, so I haven't bothered.

Has anybody mined all the data for stat calculations yet? i.e., what stat gains you'll get for each level in each stat. All I can really find is the soft and hard caps, and not the actual numbers.

I just ran around clockwise/anti-clockwise waiting for its arm slam attack. Go in for a couple of hits, retreat and keep running. It's not very fast but reasonably safe.

I just fought Defiled Amygdala straight up, since using the recommended tactics didn't work. Stay back, watch her attack patterns and wait for her head to drop, go In for a few swipes, back off again. If she gets too close, roll to the side and then underneath/through her legs to escape. When she jumps, stay perfectly still and you will NOT TAKE DAMAGE. When she lands, rain blows, then back out before she recovers. Note that during her second phase (where she tears off her arms), the standing still tactic didn't work for me so whenever she jumped, I just rolled like crazy.

When she's down to about 1/3 health, she gets really aggressive and deadly. This is when I tried to stay behind her as much as possible and hit her tail and (preferably) legs. It's a tough ass battle, especially since you're so drained at that point after the other annoyingly hard bosses, but be patient and you'll get it.

Finished. Got all 3 endings by backing up my save.

Here is me taking on the true ending boss.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skiKseH-bBc

I got real lucky for the 2nd half. Staggered him and was able to take off basically half is health to finish the fight. Not exactly a epic conclusion.

Now onto the defiled chalice! YAY!

I went into the fight with only 4 vials left. Literally killed him with only a hit left thanks to his AOE attack. While far easier than Gerhman, them in combination was a near perfect ending for me^^

Beat defiled Amygdala yesterday at level 100. Most intense fight. I was completely drained after beating her, insane stuff. Will post the video later. Also 144 hours on the clock. Best Souls in game for me.

You can lock on Amygdala's head. Well here is my fight. It might help out.

So yesterday, I killed
Fake Iosefka
to get her Caryll Rune and I was wondering what would happen if
I sent the homeless man from the woods to the clinic
. So I did and
he turned into a blue alien even though Fake Iosefka was dead lol. Killed him and got his Caryll Rune too.

I just ran around clockwise/anti-clockwise waiting for its arm slam attack. Go in for a couple of hits, retreat and keep running. It's not very fast but reasonably safe.

Yep, that's what I did too. It's the safest strategy and it works quite well.

Lol at the
Celestial Emmissary
. Easiest boss in the game, big silly
wobbly plant mushroom
thing. You know if even I can march in there and smack his bum into compost then it must be a walkover. Not lol at Ebrietas though, having a few issues there ;_;

I like how Soulsborne games always have a few pushover bosses sprinkled here and there. For me it helps prevent fatigue a bit. Sure am glad not every boss is Ebrietas, haha. (Although that boss is a bit broken, IMO. Would be much easier without that damn charge attack.)

Man the Pthumerian Descendant boss in the last chalice is a huge dick. I cant seem to consistently parry him, my shots sometimes just pass right through him.

Any tips?

Spent three hours just rolling through quick-find chalice dungeons. That chalice fixes all the issues i had with the chalice system. No materials required, actually valuable loot in runes gems and weapons, and fun bosses.

Fun stuff but easy too much time required to get to that point.

I did it guys! I ran through NG+ in less than a day, since I needed one more mat to make the Great Pthumeru Ihyll Chalice.

The one I missed was from killing Motherbrain, and of course I started the chalice stuff after I beat the game, so pretty much speed ran past everyone killed the bosses, and finally got it. Much easier said than done of course. >_>

How hard is the lhyll chalice? Harder than Defiled?

I would say it is easier since you have much more health. Phtumerian Descendant is hard but the other bosses are okay.

I went to the clinic before
Rom
and
Killed Iosefka, I was exploring and she attacked me
. Did I messed up?

Prevents you from getting one of the items needed to get the true ending, but there is one more chance by getting Arianna the whore to safety at Oedon chapel and letting her survive until endgame

Any tips on Darkbeast Paarl?

I get the idea I'm supposed to dodge TOWARDS him when he swipes to get under him but I just can't seem to get the timing down :(

Guess it also doesn't help I'm playing a strength based hunter so using the Kirkhammer is kind of slow and he moves around a lot. Am considering upgrading my Hunter Axe some more since it seems to be easier to hit him when I have a horizontal component to my weapon swings.

The easy way: forget about legs, crush its face.

Just keep moving around it, and wait for the window to hit it in the head until it loses the electric charge.

After that the beast will probably run away to a corner to charge back, the move starts by raising the head up, charging, and then going down again, you just have to be ready to hit it with a charge attack in that moment, it will probably lose the charge and repeat the progress.

2 minutes fight, and I was having trouble before this method.

I don't know about your weapons though, charged Axe r2 should work I guess, rifle spear is amazing for this tactic.

Finally beat
Rom
after about 10 attempts. What a bastard she turned out to be.

The next stage is...interesting. Totally frantic running through the
Unseen Village
searching for a lamp, with no vials and about three bullets. Made it though, and found another, so I'm better placed to go exploring once I've farmed for supplies.

No idea where to go next though...

I just kept on playing the same way, spamming parries until I got lucky and managed to kill him haha. I didn't like the fight so I didn't really feel like actually preparing a strategy.
