Why are they "gankers"? Isn't that an invader beating a beckoner and a summoned cooperator?

The guy with the Chikage is the ganker in that scenario, right? The other two players were just doing PVE.

2 on 1 fights are frowned upon, especially if the host has much more hp. Still, everything is fair in invasions, no questions about that. Still, gankers.

edit: And as you can see, I don't attack when they are fighting enemies. I am hoping for a 1v1 in return. If I don't get that, I will play as dirty as possible.

2 guys trying to co-op together trying to progress in the game and get called gankers for defending themselves lol. That isn't Iron Keep bridge you're invading there.

Frowned upon? Heh.

The beckoner was trying to clear to the next lantern and you invaded his world and killed him and his buddy.

I know that's how it the souls series works, but it doesn't make them "gankers". :)

Ganking is summoning a bunch of co-op buddies with high-level equipment in a common invasion area and waiting for invaders to come to your world so you can gang up on them.

Summoning friends to beat a level is not ganking. Working together with someone to beat an invader isn't ganking if you are just trying to survive to get to the boss. I'm not even sure ganking in its Dark Souls form can work in Bloodborne with how poor the online system is.

I see what you mean. However I literally played the entire game with a rl friend. Hes a complete noob at these type of games and I was helping him out. We planned to do coop and not Pvp. So whenever we would get invaded, we would defend ourself from invaders.

In new game plus are you able to ingest a madmans knowledge from your old inventory to awaken the doll? Must...spend...these...souls........

Yes, just go to the hunters dream once, leave, use the madmans, go back and she will be active :)

EDIT: Didn't realize you didn't have to "gain" an insight to make her active, guess I just assumed since she wasn't when I initially visited in NG+ haha.

So apparently my game might be glitched? Finally got the last Hunter Tool from N

F

and no trophy popped. Any help?

Question, a lot of low level enemies seem to retain a tiny slice of health when I hit them, like you can't even see it, is this a game mechanic that they didn't die or do they just have 1hp left or what?

I half suspect they intentionally made the last sliver of health bar correspond to a larger percentage of health than it looks like it should be doing to trip up players into thinking an enemy is dead when in fact it isn't.

I noticed this in a chalice dungeon (regular non-root lower hintertomb third layer pre-boss bonus area) where a very large enemy with a lot of HP
got himself poisoned in a poison swamp.
I waited for his health to tick down and kill him, and the very last portion of the health bar went down quite a lot more slowly than the rest of his health bar did.

Has anyone else observed something like this? I wonder whether I'm onto something or just imagining things. I should have recorded it when it happened.

Fun facts about stamina generation! Spoilered only for those concerned with discussions of non-story-related mechanics.

1) There is a weight/encumbrance system in the game.
2) Higher weight slows your stamina generation.
3) Vitality (rather than endurance) increases your weight limit.
4) The Hand Lantern gives a massive penalty to your stamina generation just by having it equipped.
5) The strategy guide mentions none of this.

Finally created every chalice to use any glyph code I'd like. Never want to mess with that again.

Some resources for chalice material I ended up needing:

Ritual Blood (5)
Lower Ailing Loran Root Chalice
Glyph: 99uh8t6c

5 total in the bonus room of very first hallway in Layer 1 (down the ladder, across the bridge). Recreate chalice to respawn the chests.

Tomb Mold (5)
Any Great Isz Chalice (search or create)

At the beginning of Layer 1, fall down the hole and there's immediately a room with a bunch of rats, which have a chance to drop Tomb Mold (5). Equip Eye runes for better drop rate. Even with 350ish Discovery, sometimes I'd get 4 to drop, sometimes I'd get none.

Respawn with Bold Hunter's Mark and repeat.

Sage's Hair and Blooming Coldblood Flower
Ailing Loran Root Chalice
Glyph: x98va7xn

3x Sage's Hair and 2x Blooming Coldblood Flower in the bonus room before the boss door of Layer 2. The Layer 1 boss is
Keeper of the Old Lords
. Not too tough.

BB and BoM have terrible arcane scaling and the weapon buffs don't scale with arcane at all. An arcane build is much better off using Tonitrus and Ludwigs blade with elemental gems.

The Chikage drain is about 0.85% of max hp per sec, not too bad. Since you get the Chikage fairly late (and you need 50 BT to make it really good) you're gonna need a decent amount of Skill to get you there, so you can still use the cane and BoM on the side. If you use Blood gems in your Chikage keep in mind that these will not improve visceral damage, that's why I use a cane with only phys % gems for parrying. You can use physical gems in the Chikage, they do improve the blood damage, but there are some very strong blood gems available and there's not much reason to use the Chikage in it's untransformed state anyway. It's a great endgame weapon especially against bosses. Mine has about 700 blood atk and the attack speed is quite fast. You also get extra damage and stagger power on the first attack out of the scabbard, but this requires some good timing. I think it's one of the most fun weapons to use.

great info, btw I'm using Ludwig and have 29 arcane but I really want to use the Chikage. My BT is you guessed it 12. I'm not seeing any scale increase when I add BT so I've been lvl'ing skill. What's up with the 50 BT? is that only for the 2nd stage Chikage? thank you!!

Yes only for the transformed state. Skill for 1handed, BT for 2 handed.

fuuuuuuuuck, i only have 2 red jellys and i'm ready to tackle the final chalices. i seriously have no idea how i missed them on the first run through the game, i thought i had thoroughly scoured the lecture building. i'm just about done with NG+. was going to use a cloud save to get the 3rd ending and the platinum. really don't want to rush through a 3rd time just to get the red jellys. i've heard they could possibly be found in ailing loran chalices, but they were not in the one that i've done. any glyphs out there with guaranteed red jellys?

Was looking to get some game time but required update and all. Thanks PSN for bloodsucking 45 mins with garbage speeds on my fios line.

I'm at end game and just realised that my u

have I fucked up somewhere or did they update the name in a patch or something?

yes this. Last night I finally connected to my friend after half an hour of fiddling around and then some dude invades and kills him... I don't mind PVP it's fun but that is some bullshit by FROM, don't punish people for playing coop ... took us another restart and 20 minutes to connect after that. plus its so glitched and framerate drops that I shot the dude with my cannon, took him to zero health and then the blood vial he pops shows up like 10 seconds later, him still alive.

Anyway, does anyone know if you can stick a fire gem on the old tonitrus?

Anyone have the guidebook?

Does it have a dropreference for Gems?
All I want is Endgame Blood DMG runes for Chikage.

And if there's a DMG Leech gem I would love that as well for a secondary.

Poor gankers didn't know what hit 'em:

I really need to sort my PvP videos, hilarious stuff happening all the time...

Dude, you invaded the game of two people playing co-op.

Expecting any kind of PvP etiquette is completely unreasonable.

Exactly. So sick of hearing the word "ganker" being misused.

I'm pretty sure I had some in mine, it had a lot of ritual materials including red jelly: 4jgecv28
Buuuut it's on layer 3... :| Fortunately the first two bosses are very easy. Here's the glyph breakdown:

- layer 1: Fading Lake rune (+10% fire resist)
- layer 2: Uncanny Burial Blade
- layer 3: Red Jelly
- layer 4: Clear Deep Sea rune (+300 slow poison resist), Great One Coldblood

IIRC the runes and the weapon were in side doors, but the Red Jelly was in the normal dungeon layer itself.

Bosses:
Keeper of the Old Lords, Maneater Boar, Amygdala, Loran Darkbeast

I don't know, man. Look at a list of hunter's tools. If you didn't miss anything, that's bad news. :(

Fuuuuck!~ Maybe it had to do with doing the save backup for the 3 endings? Guess all I can do is try to get another trophy and see if it pops that way. :/ Guess I'll have to move on to NG+. I'll go beat G
erhman
and start NG+. Do all of your weapons and things you found in the first run stay, or do you have to do literally everything over again?

Everything minus shortcuts and lamp locations carry over.

Alright,I may have misused the term ganking, still a lot of fun to beat two players at the same time that have a huge advantage over you. Let us invaders have the little fun we can have with the limited possibilities of Pvp there is in this game.

edit: And the beauty of this game is that each player gets to have his own moral compass and etiquette. If a player does not have the courage to fight me 1 on 1 I have every right to disrespect him. And of course the same applies the other way round... No respect for invaders.

i really hate that one attack
stupid multi orb lighting laser attack

is there like a shield i can get to deflect it cause i can't dodge it , i struggle. that boss Micolosh has me stumped since he is boxed in a room with you after you get his health down

Well personally if its 1 v 1, I always attempt to maintain honor I would perform a gesture such as the hunter's salutation, do not use blood vials unless my opponent uses them and do not attack when an enemies are aggro on them.
