I've watched the first 3 episodes so far. Episode 2 really was damn good but it made episode 3 disappointing in comparison.
I know it's a comic book show but since when does someone go to jail and then have their trial in like a week? The show loses some of its gritty realism when this happens, it took me out of it for the whole episode.

I hope that the show hasn't peaked early.

Some people say it peaks with the fight scene at the end of episode 2, but I think most people are saying it peaks at episode 8 or 10. So you should find some good stuff still ahead.

Finished the show last night. (Just a few days shy of this thread's spoiler deadline!) I do think it peaks with episode 10. It felt like the
falling out among Matt, Foggy and Karen is resolved too quickly. They go from not speaking in episode 12 to being cool by the end of 13. Felt rushed, as if the show needed to go 16 or 17 episodes to really let that thread resolve itself naturally.

Either that, or the show should have ended after episode 10 and saved the "Foggy finds out Matt is Daredevil and feels betrayed" plotline for a season 2.

About the costume at the end,
yeah it looked cheesy. It suddenly felt like I was watching a '90s or early 2000s superhero movie, which I hadn't felt for the entire show until he put on that costume. I don't know what they can do to make it better, but I hope they figure something out. I kinda would have been totally OK if he kept dressing in all black with a knit cap on for the whole show ... it looked better and didn't break my suspension of disbelief.

haha, yeah.

Yeah leave it to that costume to break your suspension of belief and not a blind guy dodging bullets or throwing batons off walls right into people...

No matter what, the concept of some guy/girl putting on a costume to fight baddies will always be cheesy. If anything the show took itself too seriously early on.

I will admit it felt like I was watching Arrow or Flash in that last episode with some of the dialogue and shots at the end of E13 (not to say it's bad, but that it's really hammy).

Okay, so Daredevil is my favorite comic character of all time, right? But even I sort of wish they had kept the black suit. It fits so much better in the universe they established. The red suit looks silly in real life. I still sort of geeked out when I saw it, but still.

That's ... that's just how I felt. I could buy all the blind dude martial arts stuff the way it was presented, but that costume did indeed take me right out of it. [shrug] I dunno.

I think the only thing that bugged me was how his initial costume makes it clear that he's blind. And then you have this blind lawyer in Hell's Kitchen who's clearly blind and sounds just like the masked guy.

Other than that, though, I really liked this series. I think it helps that I don't know Marvel well and don't really know Daredevil at all (going into it, I knew his general power set, and that's about it). With other shows, sometimes I'm like why isn't Green Arrow doing this? or when does Flash do this?, but with Daredevil, I don't really know anything and have little in terms of expectations.

You are not alone.

edit: SEASON TWO YAY!!!!!!!! Make a new thread! :D

And I have to agree that, while I like the look of the suit, it looked out of place in the gritty crime drama world. It's the MCU, but still.
Wasn't just the costume, it was that the show went
total Movie Batman
at the end in a way that was tonally off base with the rest of the series.

Season 2 was a sure thing. I was never worried about that.

Glad to see it as official, though.

What's the consensus on Vincent's Kingpin? I loved every second he was on screen. Whas the favorite part of the series for me.

Disappointed at the time, it's worse at I get further away from it.

His childhood trauma was a cliche. His socially awkward demeanor was an interesting idea, but unnecessary and informed no real arc. The idea that he was doing these evil things to save the city, but came to realize and accept that he was the evil thing polluting the city was neat, but it was a light switch moment. Nothing they wrote earned that. The confrontation in the finale was bad.

I realize I'm a little out-voted here, but I was hoping for more from this character and D'onofrio. Marvel stays losing in villains IMO. Hopefully Ultron is better or they grow him in Season 2

Little more info:

Netflix has officially announced that Daredevil Season 2 will premiere in 2016.

Additionally, showrunner Steven S. DeKnight is apparently leaving the series.

The new showrunners will be Doug Petrie (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy), both of whom wrote scripts for the first season of Daredevil.

Drew Goddard and Jeph Loeb will remain with Daredevil as executive producers alongside Petrie and Ramirez.

It only references the events of the Avengers. Beyond that we don't know

Everything MCU wise has been in order airing wise, though, so it's likely before AOU and ahead of everything else

His childhood might of been cliche...but honestly pretty anything they wrote into that spot would've been. I also like how his mannerisms play a big part to how he was raised. So, I really don't understand why you thought it was unnecessary. Even as Kingpin, he was still quiet, withdrawn until he was forced to snap. Just like he was as a kid...until he snapped on his father. It wasn't a light switch moment either...they played it the whole time with a new lady in his life I thought. She made him open up and put out there who he really was...how he didn't have to hide anything. The final confrontation was in fact bad...

I think all Marvel show are purposely keeping this a bit vague. If they do not hammer down an exact time. it opens doors to let them explore and interact with other stuff in the MCU if needed as it develops in the future.

No need to give an exact date until they need to - and then have a good story/character reason for doing so to make it matter.

Just finished season 1 and I really, really loved it.

Sums up how I feel right now.

Super bummed about Wesley though, I felt he could have grown into something akin to Burton from Banshee.
