So is
Amygdala
the only boss in
Nightmare Frontier
?

He's a pushover.

In that section yes. But from the Lecture Hall you go through the door on level 2 to another section...

And 'pushover' isn't really a term that can be used in this game. It depends whether you had a co-op buddy or if you were over levelled. The game is still punishing and requires skill and patience for the most part. Best to not brag or give others a false impression...

So, matchmaking is completely rooted, yep? I thought people were exaggerating, but I couldn't find squat last night both in Mensis and dedicated PvP dungeons. Really lame.

Just to clarify: for invasions, all I need is the sinister bell, right? No particular covenant I need to be aligned with, or any other extraneous things to worry about?

Cheers, guys.

I had as much trouble with him as I did with CB.

Every other boss has gotten me once except WoH.

He was a pushover.

Yes, the MP is busted, today I rang my small resonant bell around ~10 times, got summoned 3 times (waiting at least 5 minutes or more each) & got kicked out to the main menu 7 times, a 30% success rate is terrible. & you can forget about playing with your friends, the password system straight up doesn't work.

The exact same thing happened with Demon's Souls & Dark Souls when they launched, I don't know why FROM software's games always need to be patched 5 times before MP starts working as intended.

Struggled with Rom yesterday, watched some videos that made it look simple and struggled some more. Tried today with my own tactic and beat it/him/her quite easily. Hurrah!... So many choices of where to go next though!

I kinda regret choosing Ludwig blade to be the weapon I focus on maxing out. I feel like I'm constantly running out of stamina.

I just made it it the part where I fight the Hunter. He kicked my asss I didn't get a lick off of him. Any tips for beating the Hunter guy?

.

Then we have being able to co-op a boss on your first try (without the game needing you to have solo'd it first).

Are you mentioning this as a bad thing? Or am I reading it wrong?

This has been the same in all souls games, and has definitely helped me get past some bosses in my first play through.
There is always (for me) the slight feeling of guilt associated with doing it on a boss before beating them solo first, but sometimes after multiple attempts you just want to get past the boss.
Doing co op can show you good strategies for the boss for your next attempt at a solo run. Especially if you are not reading about the game online (on purpose) and summoning doesn't always guarantee a win!

I already ranted about the MP (sorry!), but yeah, you would think that considering this is From's fourth try in this series they wouldn't' do something so stupid as funnerling everyone through an auto-matchmaking system that forces people to sit on their ass while they hope and trust that their servers are actually doing the matchmaking for them.

This is just way too much black-boxing. What did they expect us to do while we wait, exactly? We have absolutely no way of knowing if there's even anyone available to summon/get summoned by. At least with the previous games you could clearly see if there were no soapstone messages on the ground. We can't even wander around the area because the game doesn't take us to the summoner's location. smh.

My god, just found the joys of the small bell. Should have used it sooner. So much fun to help people out. Also, levels you like hell.

I have really just started to get into this game. I am starting over with an arcane class to focus on the magic items more.

Whats your Stamina at? I feel with the two runes that give you like 10%+15% I can just beat people to a bloody pulp.
Endurance and Vitality were my main focus since I started playing. I have 35, plus I have the Hunter rune. That's why I'm scratching my head as to why I'm always running out. I guess I need to slow down a bit.
Uhm, use the small sword? It staggers a lot of enemies, is fast and uses very little stamina
I mainly use the small sword. It could be that I'm used to playing mostly with Kirkhammer and/or Blades of Mercy. I gotta stop swinging like a mad man lol

you got a chance to visceral him twice, why didn't you? o.O

Yeah, I asked myself the same thing XD I don't know, sometimes it just doesn't come out... And some other times I just fuck up really bad haha

What makes me angry at those Hunter fights is the fact that the NPC gets unlimited bullets.... this is why PvP is so much better.

That bothers me as well... But, to be honest, it's pretty fun to face the GREATES HUNTER OF ALL TIME like that, and the double KO was awesome lol

Yes, fuck that guy. I had to cheese him using the Rifle Spear's R2 on the stairs over and over again.

The best R2 in the game. I'll try to do that on NG+

Do you wear the hand lamp ? That will reduce Stamina Regeneration dramatically.

Hmm, I been PvPing and I feel with the small sword that I can just keep swinging until they are dead

Goddamn japanese devs who can't program multiplayer for shit.

It's 2015 !! Get with the times.
The number one patch this game needs is to change the insight cost for summoning so you only lose insight when you successfully summon another player. It would drastically increase the amount of co-op as well as the amount of invading.

I've found the multiplayer elements of Dark Souls II to be solid and seamless.

Really bizarre how much of a step back Bloodborne is. I wonder if it has more to do with Sony?

I think they were trying to experiment with a new system where people generally only have to deal with invasions when they're trying to access the other multiplayer element of the game (Co-op). The problem is that co-op was made much more inconvenient so nobody's summoning and getting invaded outside the Nightmare areas.

You get so much insight so easily though, I fail to see how that can be an issue.

Part of it is just the feel. If you try to summon and fail to summon someone and lose an insight, it feels like a waste. Players like to hoard resources even if they don't need to.

It's the same reason people really hate losing Insight to the Brainsuckers, even though losing 2 Insight is an incredibly small punishment.

I seem to recall some interview with Miyazaki stating he wanted to tone down the multiplayer elements or something. It feels like there was a desire to make the multiplayer more in-universe and invisible, rather than having summon signs all over the place.

Which sounds fine on paper, but there is a clear usability miscalculation. The system is too vague and wastes a lot of time. Overall, the game really is a big step backwards from the other Souls games in this way. Even the covenants feel half-hearted, as if they were only put in because it was expected, not because they wanted them there.

It's not even really about the insight being wasted (though it is too easy to waste). That part is mainly a problem early on, frustrating new players against the first few bosses. The real problem is not knowing if there's even any activity in the area. With summon signs, you click one and it either connects or it fails. Here, you don't know what's going on while you stand around.

This.

The main problem with pvp matchmaking seems to be the invasion timer. When you ring the sinister bell the invasion timer should reset for you so you can be invaded faster. Throw on top of that the fact that sometimes the game refuses to match you even if your timer should have long reset and the random disconnects. This makes finding matches take 10s of minutes when it should only be a minute or two wait at most.

I really hope they fix it soon.

Apparently, the number of messengers around a lamp correlates to online activity in an area. Four is the base number and the only number you get offline, with more often appearing when you're online, so perhaps that can be used as a guide.

Though it's not like new players are going to know that.

Pthumerian Descendant in the final chalice is the jankiest boss in the game thus far.

throwing blades through pillars
arena geometry keeps trapping my hunter for no reason
Hunter occasionally swinging wildly in wrong direction even when locked on

All of this is made more annoying by how insanely tight most of the parry windows are and how hard he hits.

Just lost over 600k against Micolash on NG+

So fucking pissed.

They also really need to just give the summoning bell to players as one of the "gifts" they receive at the beginning of the game.

It is just one of those things. On paper, it sounds really good. No more looking for signs, just ring the bell and be queued up for coop. They even add a password for friend matchmaking. Problem is, lack of signs makes it seem like no one else is doing it. Very little info is given to player to see what progress is being made in matchmaking. Bells are obtuse in their usage and since it isn't blatantly demonstrated, I think a lot of people just pass on it. Also, Password doesn't seem to always work.

DS2 had tons of NPC signs near boss doors to keep it in the forefront. Rewards were better too. Regaining humanity and full health bar is a much greater incentive for coop than +1 Insight.

Covenants are also an afterthought in BB while DS2 had several dedicated to various types of PvP and coop activity. DS2 had a far superior multiplayer design.

BB is unfortunately a step back in multiplayer design, which is a shame.

I posted in the noob thread about this if you follow the reddit you can get that up to 50% or so. Check my previous posts or I can repost

Killed the wiches rom and the shaddows but unseen village is kicking my ass is there anyware else I can go lv 70?
If you have the Tonsil Stone in your key items,
let the Amygdala grab you at the entrance to the Unseen Village (The room where you teleported after fighting Rom).

Alternatively,
look around the Forbidden Woods in the area with the caged dogs. There's a cave with a poisonous lake that leads to a familiar area and a key to a new area.

All I have left are things I have to get done via the Chalices and right now BLB in Lower Pthemeru is giving me such fits. Such strange hitboxes and wild fast erratic behavior. I know I can beat him eventually, but geeeeez.

does he change on ng+? how does this even happen?

He does this overhead homing energy attack. Which is fair enough because if you keep the pressure on he doesn't get to use it. Except this time he charged it...as I was jumping off the ledge to get down to his floor. So the second I hit the floor his beam one shotted me before I could roll/pick my souls up.

Livid.
