Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

Didn't realise you could Summon
Alfred
for C
leric Beast
.
Whaaa? How? Where is his messenger?

I was fucking around in NG+++ (kinda done with this playthrough, saw all the endings and saw the full Eileen sidequest, finally, but I still messed around a bit in the beginning of the game...) and only just now saw that you could summon
Father Gascoigne
in Central Yharnam. I first got him from the fountain area (past the mob, where that single trick troll banging on the door is). He died to the brick trolls later on. Then I remembered there was another "use the bell for help" sign near the lamp shortcut, and I rang the bell there again, and it was him there too.
Obviously he doesn't follow down the elevator to go fight himself, haha. I imagine that if you take the long way around via the sewers he won't follow you down the ladders either. He seemed pretty weak in NG+++ and quickly died, maybe the NG+ scaling isn't so good for NPCs?

But anyway yeah, where is
Alfred
's sign in Central Yharnam? I imagine it's only available if you spoke to him and accepted cooperation? But then you're very likely to have already killed Cleric Beast, or missed it entirely, by then... weird. Unless you can summon him before meeting him. After all you can do that with Father G too.

Also, getting a close and more attentive look to the summoned NPC, I realized that
Father G is the blood minister in the intro! They look pretty much identical. I never noticed before, probably because in NG I hadn't made the connection and in later playthroughs I just skipped the cut scenes. But aren't they credited to two different voice actors? So confusing...

the password door in CW to continue the story, or get abducted by one of the bag guys who are around now for a tricky but worthwhile side area

How does that work? I
barely met any NPCs in my two play throughs. Who are you talking about and where do they take you?

Beat the final chalice's first boss
pthumerian Descendant
last night solo and legit. Rather difficult, I wasn't sure I could do it and our last engagement was one of those where I took one last swing and was either going to kill him or curse myself for not rolling away (I had no vials left so figured it was time to go all out). I had 11 bullets left going into the final 30 seconds so just was unloading on him hoping for either a kill or a visceral parry... got the visceral, but couldn't get in fast enough to pull it off so had to quickly decide whether to go for it or retreat. Went for it.

And he died. And I cheered.

Now onto boss #2... who I hear on this page is the hardest in the entire game? Wonderful (not really).

Defiled and final chalice bosses are definitely hard as hell, while this platinum is technically easier than the souls games it's still no joke.

Does anyone know exactly where to find the red jelly in the Lower Loran chalice dungeon? I need two, and I can't make an Izs chalice, because my
Ebrietas
elevator is bugged.

I thought I scoured Lower Loran pretty well, but I must have missed a door or treasure room. Not finding anything on the wiki ...

Snatchers, some assholes with bags that now appear in the left or front exit in the Cathedral Ward. Just let 'em kill you and they will take you there.

Once you arrive in the new area, climb the stairs all the way to the top, don't stop for nothing, and light the lamp. Then explore. Unless you are way overleveled, the enemies are likely to at the very least 2 shot you.

What I want to know is why the "bad" ending feels like the best one? I really didn't care for the others.
Yeah, it's like the least depressing one, haha. But it sucks that there's
no final boss
...

Not sure, but you can always find some in layer 3 of my lower loran glyph 4jgecv28, if that helps.

I remember they were in the treasure room. Had to run across suspended bridges.

Unlike the Souls games, I feel all the endings in Bloodborne provide a puzzle piece as to what's going on. Rather than just offering a good/bad choice.

I know I'm way behind due to lack of time to play. I'm still at the very beginning of the game, just killed Father G on the first try. I'm so in love in this game right now, enjoying every second of it. The atmosphere and art style in this game are top notch and I'm digging the combat. No more blocking, just hacking and slashing and being a badass hunter. Now I don't want to go to work, wish I could play it all day long.

M

actually killed me in NG++, haha. Instant OHKO. In the final showdown
where he locks himself him and you have to jump down from below, I jumped down only to immediately eat his AOE arcane attack and that OHKO'd me despite decent arcane defense and 50 vitality. Ouch.

Then, on my retry, he did something I never saw before:
he started teleporting via mirrors and really kept playing hide and seek. In all previous instances I only ever saw the same phases: first, running away to that square room, then teleporting away after losing half health, forcing me to climb to the upper area and jumping down, then running away to that place where he slams down the grated door (I've tried interrupting him with pistols or whatever, but no luck, he's always too quick), forcing me to jump down on him from above.

But this time, after the half-health part, he just spazzed out all the time, teleporting through mirrors constantly, and it took forever to get him to lock himself up for the final phase. Weird...

I think the mirror teleporting has to do with insight. It happened to me to on NG+. Really annoying.

I doubt it...
He only ever did it once for me, in NG++ on my second attempt (after his AOE one-shot me the first attempt). In all playthroughs I had very high insight, even in NG since I never spent it, and I was at 99 insight for all of NG+ and NG++ and he only did that the one time.

So far taken down Cleric Beast, Father Gansc, Blood-Starved Beast, Vicar Amelia and Witches. Blood Starved Best and Witches were super easy.

Where to go now?

Make sure you're up to date with the Eileen stuff. You're near the point where the quest apparently fucks up if you advance too far.

Not that I'm bitter ¬¬

Mm.. weird.I Wonder what triggers it then.

I feel all three can be interpreted as hopeful.

In Yharnam Sunrise, you are finally freed from your duty as a Hunter and can live normally in the waking world. The hunt will continue, but at least you can personally live your own life.

In Honoring Wishes, you free Gehrman from his eternal servitude and take up his role guiding the hunters in future hunts. Probably the worst ending, but still with hope in the future.

In Childhood's Beginning, you free Gehrman and break the cycle of the hunt. Not only that, but destroying the Moon Presence will probably do something to halt the scourge of beasts based on messages connecting the Red Moon to men becoming beasts. And as an infant Great One raised by a caring parent, you can hopefully guide mankind on the right path.

they're enemies, not NPCs. After you kill BSB but before killing Rom, you'll see some new guys with bags appear. Let one kill you and you'll arrive in a new area. Explore it thoroughly as there's some really good stuff there

Man. Just started NG+ and Cleric Beast is a bitch. Soooo much health. Got him about 3/4 down before he killed me. Is it just me or is it harder to VA now? The giant brick dudes usually took one shot to stagger. Now they take two.

Can't find the stupid Hintertomb chalice. It won't show up in Pthumeru Central at all, tried 2 different dungeons, its neither in a sidepath nor after a boss. Is it really that much of a dice roll?

Also, end game boss spoiler
Gehrman is an asshole, no idea how to even begin to beat him :/ any hints are welcome

so i'm on NG+ and i'm trying to get the
living string
so i can unlock the last chalice and platinum the game. i
pulled the lever in nightmare of mensis to release the monster, then i went down the elevator that goes to basically nowhere, and now i can't find the damn monster. he is nowhere to be found :(

EDIT: i got it. for some reason going back up the elevator and back down worked.

It's definitely in a side path. IIRC it's Central Pthumeru, warp to layer 3 (or was it 2...?) lamp and proceed backwards to find the side-path. It's in there.

Parry + visceral

Shouldn't be a dice roll. The Hintertomb Chalice is in the Pthumeru Central Chalice in that one side path with the vinegaroons (scorpion-like things). IIRC, the door to that path is on the second layer before the lamp.

Any reliable tactics for the frenzy chicks for a character without a heavy weapon to interrupt the grab attacks?

With the holy blade they were no problem.
3, or 4 swings and the were dead and weren't able to grab you.

Normally r2 attacks do the trick to interrupt them. What weapon are you using?

I go full Metal Gear and sneak past them. It actually made the areas with them enjoyable.

How does the coop work in chalice ? If I ring the bell on a floor I can only play with ppl on this floor ?
I don't know if it's supposed to be that long since I barely played coop but I'm waiting since 10min in front of the last boss in the Ailing Doran Chalice :/

I beat Mergo's Wet Nurse last night. I found this to be one of the easier bosses,
except for when it goes dark and the clones start appearing
. Still, as far as late game bosses go it wasn't too bad. But am I right in assuming that I'm at the end here? I want to finish the game so I can finally say I beat it, but I know I missed quite a few optional bosses, since the only optional ones I faced as far as I can tell are
BSB and Amygdala
, and I kind of want to look up where they are. I don't want to finish the game if I can't explore anymore without starting over in NG+. Is it worth facing any more optional bosses to get whatever items they might give?

Backstep at the last second, or parry them. They are pretty easy to parry. Shoot them right before their arms are about to grab you.

Yes! You can start looking for Cainhurst Castle.
Also there are some areas with weapon and other pretty stuff, I think you might found that interesting as well.

Question about the Eileen quest.

I spoke to her in Central Yarnham and then didn't see her again until I helped her take down the hunter at the Tomb of Odeon. Apparently I missed her in the Cathedral Ward before that. Can I still complete her quest, i.e. will I still see her at the Grand Cathedral after I beat Rom?

I love the combat in this game but I have no idea how anyone figures anything about this game out without consulting online. The fact that everything's been figured out this shortly after release still blows my mind.

Ritterpallasch and chikake +9.

I want the items.

Hm, have to try.

Btw.: Alfred disappeared.
He has the summon but is nowhere to be found.

The only key item on an optional boss you didn't get is the
Isz Chalice
on
Ebrietas
.

if you missed a step
(her appearance at cathedral ward) then i think she turns hostile towards you at the grand cathedral. you will be able to get the crow hunter's badge, but not the hunter's rune
.

someone correct me if i'm wrong.

i did the following and got the rune:
(1)met her in CY above the rats, (2) helped her kill henryk, (3) found her outside the grand cathedral and killed the hunter inside

The other player has to be on the same floor of the same dungeon with the same glyph.

It requires some coordination.

Whew, Defiled Watchdog down after a couple of hours. Damn that crappy dog. Blade of Mercy could use some range...

I'm not really looking forward to the Amygdala fight now.

I'm at the end of the game but all I have been doing is invading people, Hunter vs. Hunter fights are the best part of this game. Wish we had like an arena area we could fight people in.
