The Witcher 3 runs at 1080p ULTRA ~60 fps on a 980

Considering you can OC a 970 to stock 980 performance it should do a lot better than 30-40 FPS.

If you can OC that high. I've never had luck over locking GPU's or CPU's. Dunno why, I just always end up reverting to stock speeds for stability.

Would love to get a decent OC on my already Oced 970 FTW. But the effort it takes to get it right (considering I never have) makes me want to steer clear..

Titan X, or better yet, dual Titan X's will make this game. (And any other game really) it's bitch.

I don't even want to know the frames you could achieve at 1080p with dual Titan X's.

We'll find out soon enough ;)

All bets are off the table with ubersampling though

An unstable 60fps on hardware that costs over $1,000 is disappointing.. turning off the DOF and bringing down the AA might keep it locked but I guess we will have to wait and see.

Looks like this will be a swan song for my 670 then. I'm hoping for high 1080p @ 30fps. These new games aren't going to be too friendly are they?

When i used my 580 gtx as phsyx dedicated card to my 970 i actually had worse fps on batman arkham origins, any idea why? 580 gtx cant keep up?

Why should a game run at 1080p/60fps (ultra) on one grand worth of hardware ? That's complitely arbitrary.

I don't think a single 980 will cut it if Hairworks is included.

What should I expect on my 4gb 680 with an i7 3770k processor?
I'm hoping for High with some stuff set to ultra - 1080p and a solid 30fps, realistic?

Hmm.. still torn between PS4 and PC. I usually prefer couch gaming for these games, but my PC will most likely perform better. That said, I do game at 2560x1080. Would that be a performance hinderance, I wonder? o-o

My setup: GTX970, 16GB RAM, i5 4570 and two SSDs.

So, where the chances I might get 60fps if I were to play it with a 970 at 1024x768?

I think with a GTX 970 at that resolution you can achieve 60fps easily, even on ultra detail, but playing that game at that low resolution with a pretty good card like the 970 is a shame

Plan to run on high settings 1440p on a single OC 970 and i5 2500k at 4.2 I plan to run without any AA as with 1440p and the distance I sit back with a controller for me personally it doesn't matter much once the games in motion. Hoping for 50 to 60fps.

I'm actually worried about the vegetation pop-in, seen in the recent gamplay vids...
Anyways I'm also curious how will the 970 perform.

Keep fighting the good fight, Kezen. Most of us understand this, I hope.

Well it's like 50% more pixels. So yes. But are you really going to pass up playing this game at better graphics settings than a PS4, at ultra wide aspect ratio and 60 FPS for couch gaming?

it's exactly my rig but I hope for a huge step between High and Ultra in graphics because it will be really disappointing if my 1500$+ rig can't do better than that.

I've got a 980 (after going through a 780, SLI 970s, and some 290Xs), but I'm at 2560x1440 which complicates things. It's looking more and more like Nvidia and AMD won't be releasing their new hotness in time for TW3, which is a pity. I've got $700 with either GM200 ("GTX 980Ti/1080") or Fiji's (R9 390X) name on it.

My 980 is ready.

They were never going to do so in time for The W3. Even if AMD had announced their new line by now, it would not have been released yet.

I'm thinking of upgrading my i7 920/ gtx 780 to a i7-4790/ gtx 980 to get 1080/60 on this but am debating. I was just hoping to build a new rig next year.

Any feedback?

Yeah I wouldn't pass on PC for ps4 with those PC specs. I plan to hook my PC up to the TV. I wonder how my 780Ti will fair compared to 980.

Im so glad I'm still in the middle of a move and getting this new house settled, as I dont feel my 770gtx will handle this game like I want it to (or GTA5 for that matter). I'm hoping between painting, and getting furniture and all the other busy work that goes into setting up a new house, by the time I'm ready to play nvidia will have their new GPU lines out. Buying a 980 right now just seems silly.

Reportedly, AMD have had Fiji pretty much ready for quite some time now. The problem seems to be low HBM supply from Hynix, further delaying release.

What you should do is either connect your PC to the TV, or, if that isn't feasible, connect some laptop or something for Steam streaming, and enjoy far superior performance and graphics from your couch :P

I should be okay with SLI 970's right? Guys??

I'm sure I will be. It's a game Nvidia work closely with, so I have high hopes for an SLI Profile.

16Gb DDR4 2133, Palit 970 SLI i7-5820k stock 3.3Ghz. (Should I OC my CPU for this game?)

I have my 5930k overclocked to 4.3. Considering DX11 still values single core freq, I think you should.

Seem an audiance indicator. An audiance not recently coming from console. An audiance that learns and tries to understand what they ask from their config/game.

Ultra is max? i remember Witcher 2 had Uber settings which were above Ultra i think

The Witcher 2 really didnt have much in the way of scalable graphics options. The vast majority of graphical features were either On or Off. No middle ground.

The only options that had scalability were

Shadow Quality
Number of Shadowed Lights
LoD Distance
and Decals.

And out of those, only 2 of them went to Ultra settings.

Decals was Disabled, Medium, and High Spec.
LoD was Minimal, Very Near, Near, Normal, Far
And the other two were Low, Medium, High, Ultra.

I am hoping that TW3 is more tweak able as opposed to just toggling on and off features entirely.

And I REALLY hope it allows for in game tweaking, rather than the configuration tool, which was tedious to trial and error with.

Well, this throws my dream of applying DSR with a single 980 out of the window. I natively play at 1440p, so with a single 980 I'll probably go for max settings/1440p @ locked 45 fps (G-sync)

Could anyone translate? I'm genuinely interested in what it's about haha.

First:

Jeanne: Since you promise me to give me my first driving lesson, Mr Gaston, well, it's simple, I can't sleep anymore.

Gaston: And there is a surprise, Miss Jeanne.

Second:

Gaston: Two driving wheel like real Driving school cars !... I struggle a lot... with all those gears

Jeanne: It's like a dream !!

third:

Gaston: Don't be afraid...

Jeanne: Oh ! When I'm with you Gaston, I'll drive with my eyes closed.

fourth:

Gaston: Go right

Jeanne: No, turn left, it's prettier

Fifth:

Dude: Oh I see what's wrong, You need to check the lights, wouahaa, ahaaaahaaa.

I have a similar setup, and will go PC I think. The hair fx and higher framerate could make a big difference ...

Ooof, with only a 7950 and a 3570k, I am not sure which way to go either. Considering they would both be on the same big screen, it's a touch choice.

And I am still not sure whether to play Dragon Age 3 first (same dillema of PC vs. PS4), which should take me a while, then wait and see how Witcher performs on both platforms before picking up a copy.
