"Gears of War remaster coming to Xbox One, sources say" (by Splash Damage)

I'm really curious to see if it's more of a remake rather than a remaster, since I think some people may be confusing the two things.

If they plan to release Gears 2 and 3 later, then probably the anniversary treatment won't be as big as a "remake" or something like that. And that said, if its only one game they may charge less then 60 dollars.

But if they intend to release a very well done anniversary edition, maybe they intend to inlcude at least some maps of Gears 2 and 3 aswell. I'd pay 60 dollars easily for that...

But as I said, I would be happier if that was a Gears 1 Remaster with full MP + Gears 2 and 3 campaings re-release at 1080p. Also I don't know horde mode (never player Gears 2 and 3) but that would be a good addition aswell by what I've heard.

I'll be hyped for a Gears 1 REMAKE that tweaks it to play closer to Gears 2 or 3. Specifically the multiplayer. But if it's just a remaster of the first, I'll only be interested. More so if it's pretty cheap. I do need a Gears MP fix.

Hahaha a remaster of just the first one

Look what you've done, Sony. You fucking pricks.

If there's enough of a time gap between the last entry in a franchise and a generational remastering/remake, I'm not one to complain. Well, when priced appropriately. These aren't exactly taking a budget away from what would have been a new title.

The problem with God of War 3 is actually a bit different. First because, of all games, they chose only one, the 3rd, that's not even the last one released, that won't introduce no one new to the series. Second because its seems they're giving no special treatment, other then a resolution and frame-rate bump. And at last, it's only one Single Player campaing, there's no competitive multiplayer, neither co-op, for 40 dollars. Basically they're re-releasing one game that barely makes sense to re-release and charging 40 dollars for it.

Phil Spencer said he wanted the Gears franchise to feel like the first one more than the other 2.

This is great news, if the new Gears game turns out to actually hold true to that statement. I feel like the first Gears game really captured my imagination. Not like the other two (never played Judgement) didn't; just not in the sense that the first one did.

Also, best competitive multiplayer on 360 next to Halo and Shadowrun.

Great news, but man, it must be so infuriating to the developers when someone doesn't adhere to the NDAs and leaks something like this.

There's a beta going on. They knew it would get out.

I don't mind most remasters, but they openly admitted they sort of ran things into the ground. Gears 4 was a chance to come back with a new vision divorced from the old games.

The ideal would be Gears 1 Anniversary, with improved MP including the most popular maps of Gears 2 and 3; and Gears 2 and 3 campaings re-release.

I would be really happy with that!

Me too. That would be a good scenario.

I'd also have no problem if they focused on 1 first and then maybe released 2 and 3 separately at some point (possible throughout 2016, before Gears of War 4 releases). As long as each were like $20 at most, that would be a best case scenario if they can't do an entire bundle up front.

It'd be cool if they all were integrated into the same type of interface, too (a la MCC).

Gears of war fanboy, I have all the novels and the neca figures so I'm interested, but if it's just a remake of the first game that seems like a hard sell. If it's all three games and all the story addons I'm in like flint

If they manage to make a remake of the games they should add the pc chapters and maps, make some tweaks to the story that add more to whatever black tusk wants to do, and just fix whatever act 2 is.

We all knew this is coming, I'm glad though, if it has dedicated servers then bring it!!

I'm gonna spring for an XB1 at some point, might as well wait for the inevitable gears remaster + MCC bundle for the holidays.

I don't understand why people have to leak things. If you signed an NDA, then you should respect it because it only hurts any other potential participants.

With that said, I am excited for Gears of War on Xbox One... even a Remake/Remaster of the first would be fine filler until Gears of War 4 comes out. I just hope all of the maps are remastered as well and not just a select few.

I was happy until I saw splash damage. Brink was shit. I guess it's just a port so they can't f it up too much. Needs to be all three games though (let's not talk about that other...thing...).

Well, if the rumors are true, this is way better than GoW3 remaster.

To be fair to Sony, MS patented the "put new graphics on top of old graphics+engine and switch between them" thing. Sony doing it would be illegal. It would have to be either a remaster or a straight up remake if they did anything to their old games.

Er, what?

How exactly?

Let's say there's a company out there who rounds up contract applicants to construct large-scale "internal" testing. It's not truly internal, because it's external, but it's still the same basic premise.

Well pretend this company gets contracts from developers or publishers to help them run large-scale tests they simply don't have the manpower to perform. Hundreds, maybe thousands of contract workers are then asked to sign an NDA and keep quiet about what they test.

A few fools decide to say screw the legal document and blab anyway.

That company, if such a company were to exist, would have its methods and reputation questioned. Maybe publishers and developers would no longer trust or utilize that company. That hypothetical company, and every hypothetical NDA following contract employee of that company now loses the opportunities to conduct these tests. The developers and publishers now lose what should be a safe and legally binding confidential test agreement.

Again, that's just my hypothesis.

I meant more along the lines of completely redoing the graphics rather than upping res/FR/adding some visual touches.

I guess I should have been more specific :P
