Agreed. I'd probably pay $5 to take Skyshock out of my rotation entirely. That thing has zero merit.
I liked all the vanilla maps except for Bastion, I hate that one. I love the other vehicle map 1st light. It looks like they are hit/miss with vehicles. I think I'm going to hold out on both DLCs until Comet is officially revealed. I'm all about the Crucible w/this game.Cauldron is one of the best maps in the game. It's not without its faults (mostly spawning related), but its layout is structurally sound and it has great flow, especially in smaller game modes.
Pantheon is so-so. It's the first true symmetrical map in the game and it plays some modes well; however, it's either really campy or really shallow in others.
Skyshock is another vehicle map and i think it's the worst map in the game. It's massive and I've never seen a game on it reach the score limit. Unless you're really into long-range sniping, you're probably not going to have too much fun playing it.
Crucible maps could swing either way, but I'm not terribly optimistic. I'm curious to see what design they attempt for the vehicle map this time around. It'll be very difficult to get them to work with Destiny's gameplay.
Did Bungie delay HoW to add more content, due to the criticism of TDB?

We don't know, but it's entirely possible. The reviews and response to TDB was the worst that Bungie has experienced for any release since uninstalling Marathon 2 wiped hard drives. They are very self critical and I can't imagine they were happy with how TDB turned out. I suspect the extra months on HoW is in part a reaction. At the least they've clearly reworked a number of systems (the entire set of gear and upgrade paths) in direct response to TDB feedback.Did Bungie delay HoW to add more content, due to the criticism of TDB?
updated the OP with new info. also, the site that just went up contained thumbnails of some new gear

I don't even bother w/the interceptor. Bastion makes me quit almost every time lol. The other maps are so well done it just sticks out like a sore thumb.I'd love for Comet to introduce a new vehicle to us. Maybe a 2-seater of some kind. That or buff the Interceptor to it's former Beta glory. Driving that thing around feels like a giant target.
Also, yes, Bastion is worst map of all time.
I have a question.
I have an exotic helmet.
I had enough strange coins and so I visited Xur and upgraded this helmet.
The only thing that happened was that it cleared all progress in leveling up that helmet.
What exactly does upgrading by Xur do?

Upgrading armor is if you still have a version that didn't take you to 32. Or have 36 light. Maybe you want higher int or discipline our strength. Other than that there is no reason to upgrade an exotic if you have a level 36 one.
Took the last two months off, started playing again this week and I'm as addicted as ever. Really excited for the new content, wish it wasn't so far away.
4. A puny amount of planetary materials required for the already fewer upgrades on Legendaries 4 instead of 16)
Where can i read/watch these impressions!?!Some people who have played HoW already(The uh, 'pros' who Bungie brings in) have mentioned that the PoE is much better than the raids in terms of fun and difficulty. So.....
How do we know all this?? Most of it sounds way too good to be true...The current upgrading scheme is horribly grindy.
HoW will reduce grind in so many ways:
1. No need for Commendations to buy vendor gear
2. Fewer bubbles to upgrade on all armor and weapons; only perks instead of attack or defense bubbles
3. Prison of Elsers gear comes maxedi right off the bat so you can feel powerful as soon as you earn it instead of grinding it into shape
4. A puny amount of planetary materials required for the already fewer upgrades on Legendaries 4 instead of 16)
5. Have a maxed exotic? Upgrade it to HoW levels at any moment without Xûr, just fill the "Ascend" bubble with an Exotic shard and it automatically reaches new level cap with zero progress or perks reset.
6. Material exchange at last. You can turn your Shards into Energy or into Motes or into glimmer so your excess items become useful
7. Between the current Bounty vendor, Eris and Petra there'll be so many available bounties every day that if you ever feel like upgrading something real quick you'll always have a lot of extra bounties available for the day. Daily Heroic now also awards your weapons XP, giving yet another source for gaining it quickly.
8. Got a shitty gun from a Nightfall? No worries, you can reforge it for cheap until you get an attractive set of perks
9. "The raid NEVER drops boots for me!!!"; no more. PoE apparently drops armor and weapon tokens which you take to a vendor, so best-in-class gear won't be a random lucky drop but rather something you can anticipate at each weekly reset.
Individually these are all nice. Put together they totally change how the endgame will play out. I have a near-complete Exotic collection but over half has gone unused because of how grindy it is to max these items. Now that maxing Exotics will be so easy, I see myself easily giving them all a shot and increasing my loadouts' variety. Instead of having all endgame players using the exact same Raid armor, you'll see people at the level cap with a huge number of sets since it can all be upgraded to max level now.
Compared to launch when upgrading a gun meant spending an hour Patroling for Spinmetal and praying for Shards, it kind of feels like a different game. I am extremely happy with this direction.

A quicker way would be visiting a YouTube page like DattoDoesDestiny or PlanetDestiny, which have really good summaries of the information revealed so far.
There's a difference between "trust me it'll be better" and a timely announcement of improved mechanics which the community has unanimously agreed are well designed. They showed exactly how it's gonna work, as I detailed in my post, and it's definitely better than the TDB systems. The game still has numerous flaws, which as an acrtive player I am more than aware of. The systems they have explained and detailed, however, go a long way towards addressing the serous grind requirements they game has demanded since launch. The Dark Below said the same kind of crap.
"Oh we learned from our mistakes from Destiny, raid gear will drop more often! But you need brand new upgrade materials that you can only get from the raid, so it still takes forever to reach max level LOL

No commendations was explicitly stated in the Weekly Update (they will be sharded for reputation gains). Fewer bubbles was seen when they inspected the new gear, which only had perk bubbles and no attack/defense bubbles. PoE gear being maxed off the bat can be observed when they hover over the weapons (the Gauntlets are 42 Light and the AR is 365 attack with no need to upgrade other than the special perks). When they hover over a stat in one of the weapons you can glance at the material requirements and see how few they are. The exotic upgrade mechanism only requiring Exotic Shard and common mats to raise level cap without resetting progress was shown in detail. Material exchange was also shown at the Speaker, again in detail. Daily Heroic awarding XP to weapons was in the previous weekly update. When they showed the House of Judgmenet vendor we could see PoE gear being purchasable with tokens (Armor or Weapon Core), meaning we'll take our core to that vendor instead of just randomly hoping for a potentially repeat armor or weapon piece. The Bungie reveal also showed a vendor Shotgun being taken to gunsmith for a re-roll for a mote of light and a little glimmer, and they stated this would be possible with all HoW Legendaries.I watched the full stream and Datto's recap and didnt get most of these details...

Wtf? Is this post real? o.o
You just saved Destiny from being deleted off my PS4... I actually need the space, but I will clean up the saved videos instead after reading that.
bastion's actually my favorite map behind cauldron. i'm aware of its issues but i'm not sure why people dislike it so strongly.

Someone linked the video, basically you'll be able to get a different weapon or armor piece from the Prison of Elders by taking a "Core" which PoE drops and taking it to the vendor. When asked, Deej said we shouldn't see the same armor piece on sale 3 weeks in a row for instance so if you run PoE regularly you should be able to know in advance if that week's armor or weapon on sale are stuff you are interested in or still looking for.Anyone have a source on this?
They dropped the ball hard with the Commendation and Xûr upgrade systems on TDB, and I'm glad to see they backtracked 100% following community feedback. The two bolded are fixes for some changes crota's end gave us months ago, feels like they did right and fixed up those issues, commendations were dumb and so was the RNG of Xur.
*edit* I did a double post, forgive me.
