Did you read the posts I quoted?

What about that sentence is nice? It's incredibly rude and disrespectful. He's essentially saying anyone who likes something he doesn't like deserves to be treated like shit.

I'm just saying as a forum we should try to be inclusive to all these groups of even, even sonicgaf, liverpoolgaf and knackgaf. They might not be what you would call "right in the head", but lets not get unfriendly here in our civil, inclusive discourse. We all got a right to post.

To answer the OP, I got no idea as I only watched batman. But I bet they all sucked equally.

I'm not even sure what point you're trying to make here. The person I quoted was being as far from inclusive as possible.

Man of Steel had great music and action, but didn't care for anything else. The Batmans have been mostly good with some bad parts here and there. Begins is still the best batman movie.

All of the recent Marvel movies are bad or just tolerable except Captain America 1 and Iron Man 1 which are good. Haven't seen Captain America 2 yet.

Avengers, the Thors, the other Iron Man's are all boring as hell with no great character stories it's just bunch of explosions with quips from "comedic" characters to keep it all dull light hearted family fun. They're basically transformers movies but people give these a pass for some reason.

You should be a big enough person to let him post shitty things like that. You're not being inclusive, by not letting the non inclusive post without attacking them.

She thinks he is cute, how that simple fact rubbed you the wrong way?, a simple harmless comment that in fact is no lie at all I mean the man is handsome as all hell that i think she did say what everyone in the theater was thinking.

It wasn't the fact that she said he was cute that bugged me (he is hot), but the idea of having that line so close to the horrors that had just occurred felt odd to me. Not a biggie since I love the movie.

You found it odd because it's the only real moment of humor in the entire movie. That's why it felt out of place to you. It did to me too, and my gf, and a lot of the people in the theater both times I saw it.

I think I was probably in shock from all the shit that had just gone down and the overall seriousness of the film that my mind didn't know how to process such a harmless light moment. Glad I am not alone in feeling this way.

MoS fights were like the best version of live-action DBZ we'll ever get.
Yup I've been saying this since it came out. The fights were some of the best live action DBZ-esque fights we've seen in a movie yet.

Even with its flaws MoS easily beats TDKR and (lol) Thor 2.

I disagree. I vastly prefer Spiderman 2's action. Raimi is way better than Snyder in terms of pacing, editing and choreography. to me
Nope, and Spider-Man 2 is one of the worst offenders, building to an absolute shit ending, with doc ock feeling sorry. Spidey2 is the biggest let down.

Both Spiderman 2 and MoS have great action, the difference between the two films is that Spidey 2 has a really good script surrounding those action scenes and likeable characters involved in them, while MoS .... really doesn't. Action scenes without emotion or involvement tend to fall flat in their effectiveness, and MoS's great action scenes are hurt terribly by this. It's one reason why I think it's a worse film than TDKR, and also why I think Thor 2 is better than MoS overall. Loki alone elevates Thor 2 over MoS, even with Zod being far and away the best character in MoS.

Man of Steel for me. I wasn't expecting the story or characters to be super fleshed out but even the fight scenes left me cold. There's just no real tension in them at all with the Superman and the Kryptonians never showing any real visible signs of damage.

Man of Steel was offensively bad. Not a fan of edgy Superman.

TDKR had some dumb moments (like all the policemen going underground) but it never got unwatchable or groan worthy.

I think people would have been more simpathetic to a beaten a bloodied Superman but After Doomday I think DC put in a rule about showing a Beaten and Bloodied Superman in Movies Animated or Live Action. Ya gotta think of the Children after all.

Man of steel is fucking awful. I can tolerate Thor even though it's not very good. And nobody pretends Thor is any good while plenty of people get behind the garbage that is Man of Steel .

Zod whole purpose was ruined by superman and now his only goal was to make him suffer by killing every single human on earth is not having the characters involved in them?

Thor 2 was nothing, forgettable. Just like the first Thor. And CA1.

But neither get into the 'aggressively awful' category. For this wave of Superhero movies, the bottom of the barrel movies are:

Man of Steel
DKR
Amazing Spider Man
Amazing Spider Man 2
Xmen 3
Green Lantern
Spider Man 3

Of those, SM3 and DKR at least have some interesting and/or fun scenes. The others are just anger-inducement.

When Lois and co. see the falling debris of the satellite with them fighting is great, their expressions says it all.

"this is some biblical shit going on"

fuvk how i love this move.

I don't even think it's a young people thing, really. I'm chalking it up as MCU diehards really overpraising The Avengers.

Dredd's status on that list is upsetting too, but not unexpected. Oh how I wish more had seen it.

Always chalking everything up to "oh those marvel fanboys" isn't much of an argument and just fuels the silly fan-war. Avengers is much more recent so it shouldn't be surprising that it's impacted more people that would actually vote.

Dredd should definitely be higher but its eligibility was in contention for awhile and so a lot of people omitted it.

I don't always resort to blaming that subset of posters, but this time I am. My hate-boner for Avenger's love will never diminish!

In my mind, the worst films are the ones that just sort of fade away in time. Nobody talks about them in either a good or bad light, because nobody talks them at all. They just sort of came and went, without leaving any sort of lasting impression.

Of those three films, Thor 2 is the only one that fits that criteria in my opinion. Thus far, the Thor films are to the MCU what the Nilla Wafer is to the cookie world. They're just sort of there to fill space while you wait for the more exciting option down the road.

Guess what opens next week?

It's easier to bury the competition (ie.dozens of threads like this one) rather than let the work stand on its own, amirite?

Thor 2 was more boring than bad. I'd still rank it above Man of Steel.

Agreed. Between the two if I had to watch one again, it would be Thor 2. It has some creative scenes in its climax and has some fun. No fun allowed is the mantra of Man of Steel.

Eh? You think this thread is meant to divert attention away from AoU? There are plenty of threads made regularly criticizing the MCU.

I'm turning 40 this year and I feel that GAF is just a bunch of old curmudgeons when it comes to movies in OT. Crazy, I used to have a lot of the same tastes but now everything is 'utter shit' if it's not some Tim Burton pre-2000 film or Toy Story.

All three of the fucking movies mentioned were pretty awesome to watch. I won't vote.

I'm 37 so we're near the same age. Remember when we were kids and we would kill to have these movies-regardless of if it was good or bad? You just wanted to see it on the big screen. Kids these days will never know the struggle.

Sure, Zod was easily the best part about MoS. I felt so much more for him than anyone else in the film. But that's the problem, no one else in the movie had any weight behind them, no one else had any emotion or meaning. I mean we all know who Clark is supposed to be but the movie did not portray that, while it did a fantastic job of fleshing out Zod.

I wish Marvel movies had antagonists as awesome as Zod from MoS, but I wish Superman had at least an ounce of the charisma, character development, or depth to him that Thor does from the MCU. Superman from MoS just...didn't. And neither did any other character not named Zod from MoS.

I had a longer post typed but it just boils down to the massive hyperbole about Man of Steel's quality. Snyder is taking a lot of care into building that universe with all sorts of comics references, but all anybody can talk about is how serious the tone is.

As far as I know, Marvel Comics got famous from having characters with internal struggles. In the movies it's the opposite.

Returning to the OP's title, it's not even open to discussion. It's just about "Hey, OP thinks these two movies suck!" when neither of them are really that bad.

Am I The Only One Who Doesn't Like The MCU? | OT |

Someone please make this thread so people stop stealth-making it every other week. And can't forget the people who come into any movie threads just to shit on Marvel.

Of the movies here, Thor 2 is just forgettable, but the action setpieces are really fun as is the Thor - Loki dynamic. Men of Steel and TDKR are so horribly bad and souless I came out of the theater wanting to go see another movie to wash the taste.

Have you never been in a DCCU thread? Marvel in no way gets the vitriol spewed at it the way WB/DC movies do here on GAF.

Even on a ovewhelmingly pro Marvel community like GAF Thor 2 is winning this poll. lol.

Does anyone even remembers what happens in Thor 2? Aside from Kat Dennings.

It's become so bad with the Batman V Superman threads that there's already the bingo-card meme. It's not even just DCCU threads, last Xmen movie's threads pre-release were riddled with trainwrecks and clusterfucks.

Thor 2 was one of the few Marvel movies I ending up falling asleep. Man of Steel had amazing action sequences but the dialogue was AWFUL.

I love The Dark Knight Rises despite questionable plot decisions, so yeah.

The poll corresponds with my opinion pretty well. TDKR is even bad to me. Being boring is probably the biggest sin for me, after being straight out offensive probably.

But hey, I own all three on blu ray so what do I know?

I like to believe most Marvel fans didn't watch those two garbage DC movies and therefore are voting for the one they know.

How I wish I could wipe MoS shittyness from my brain. Probably on the same level as Catwoman and Elektra.
