Guillermo del Toro confirms he will not be collaborating with Kojima on Silent Hills

Hopefully some other company can get these two guys together to make a game in the same spirit of what they were shooting for. It's a fucking shame that Silent Hills won't be made, but hopefully something like it still happens.

Pt was my favorite "game" of last year and Silent Hills was my most anticipated game.

This is fucked. If there is any donation thing or what to tear down Konami I am there.

This is the most disappointing cancelation I can think of. It's really unfortunate that we'll never see such an interesting pair make a AAA Horror game.

I don't know how to break the news to my girlfriend. After playing PT together, Silent Hills was the only game she was looking forward to playing. Fucking fuck.
 
Konami please do everyone a favor - sell your IP's to Sony or some other publisher and get your casino and slot machines ass out of the gaming industry.
 
Silent Hill is dead, has been dead to me since a long time ago, this just confirms it again :(
But now im getting worried about Metal Gear Rising 2...
 
Damn, that sucks really bad. After Metal Gear, what the hell do we have left to look forward to from Konami? This has been a shitty month man.

See I was the opposite. As soon as this shit with kojima popped up I was pretty damn sure this was canned. I guess like someone else already pointed out the best thing about this is we've been told straight up by del Toro that it is dead. Two years from now people would still be wondering where it is otherwise(see the agent thread on the front page right now if you question it).
 
P.T. was the most interesting and eventful actual game that has been released in years.

Of course I was interested in that and Silent Hills, but it hurts more seeing something innovative and creative, and something that can only be done in this industry, get canned.
 
Well fuck this and fuck Konami. This is the most pissed off I've been about something that happened in the video game industry for a while and there's been plenty of shit happening the last few months. At least we have PT which I do genuinely like but it is such a shame to see Silent Hills go down.

This is a great tragedy. I've never played a Silent Hill game, but I've witnessed the long suffering of the fans. Konami can burn in hell.
 
Someone should fund a spiritual Silent Hills for Kojima, Del Toro and Reedus to work on. Even without the brand connection I'm sure they could still do something amazing.
 
I take solace in the fact that once MGSV comes out I have no reason to ever bother even thinking about Konami ever again.
 
Buuuuttt...what about my next gen horror game? :( Was really excited to see what Kojima would've been able to accomplish while another was focusing on the story.

I wouldn't go THAT far. I do think it's realistic to predict that one more, non-Kojima, MGS will come. I don't think it's a given that people just auto-buy it because Metal Gear; and, if sales aren't where Konami wants them, it makes sense to close up console gaming operations and move on.

We don't even know that MGS V will meet Konami's sales expectations, given budget.

Yeah, sure. Can't wait to play an awesome outsourced MGS game. After all, it worked so fine with Castlevania and Silent Hill, right?

I have bought a Kojima-less Metal Gear before (Rising) and it was one of biggest mistakes I have made.

There's no way I'm doing that again.

Anyway:

Any chance I could still play P.T. if I have it on my download list? I don't really want to buy a PS4 before E3. =/
