Guillermo del Toro confirms he will not be collaborating with Kojima on Silent Hills

Hey as far as I know there are a couple Sony employees including Adam Boyes that have Gaf accounts. :D

Yeah I actually said something similar earlier in the thread and asked Verendus if he was listening...

I really do want somebody to take come to the rescue here but I'm not expecting anything obviously

Just found this YouTube Channel called the Grate Debate that specifically delved deep into the well of what was given to us with P.T. Knowing how absolutely bonkers just this teaser was makes this one of the biggest disappointments I've seen come out of video game news for the past few years. Silent Hills truly had the potential to be something special but now it's been sliced.

This makes me laugh and cry at the same time.

As someone who doesn't like most of Del Toro's movies this sounds good to me. The only problem of course is that it's highly unlikely for Kojima to still be interested in working with Konami.

PT was great because of both of them. Having only one of them on the final project would have been a huge waste.

Just fucking nuts. PT was amazing and Konomi got so much great press from it. They just threw that all away. It's safe to say their fate is sealed now.

I'm still very doubtful that del Toro would have contributed too much to the game. The guy is so busy that he's juggling like fifty projects at a time.

Incredibly dissappointing that these people couldn't put their egos aside to make a metric fuckton of money.

Metal Gear is a shit show without Kojima and the buzz Silent Hills had because of PT was insane.

Way to go Konami. You killed a franchise and killed a game that would have revived a dead franchise.

I wish Lisa would strangle and eat whoever is making decisions at Konami cause fuck them

I didn't find PT to be that great tbh especially as a Silent Hill pitch. Jump scares were never the focus of SH.

And aren't the focus of PT.

But hey, this could still mean:

Silent Hills is still being made without Del Toro.
SH is still being made without Kojima.
SH is still being made with neither.
SH has been canceled.
Kojima and Del Toro are collaborating for a game that isn't SH.

I don't think the jump scares were the highlight of PT. The setting and the sound and just the creepiness of it all was the best part. It frightened friends of mine who don't get scared by your usual jump scare fest movies, and they weren't even playing.

But I digress, the thing will never be more that PT.

PT wasn't about jump scares, and it rarely had those.

The combination of atmosphere and graphics were extraordinarily unsettling.

That is the only game I refuse to play alone at night. When Lisa posseses you and is walking "behind/inside" you and you see her convulsing shadow on the wall and hear her footsteps in your headphones.... one of the scariest games ever.

And it was only a teaser.

saddest fate for a series in probably the whole history of videogames.

After the original masterpieces, it was releasing ok but mediocre games and the rebirth was going to happen.

Konami blew it and now it's gone.

no words.

well, other than fuck you Konami, of course.

PT was awesome for the ps4, got a lot of attention for the platform. Sony should step in and find a way to bring Silent Hills to market without Konami.

Del Toro should try WB studio, since WB love him after all. failed with THQ and now failed with Konami, third time's a charm.

I dunno, Will that be called a revival? P.T wasn't a real Silent Hill at all. it's more like western survival style like Outlast and Amnesia and nothing like the old Silent Hill.

What would prevent another publisher from contacting him and Kojima and giving them the means to finish the project? It's not like they need to keep with the title as Silent Hills, just change that and finish the job.

I guess konami can try an replace all parties, Kojima and Del Toro particularly.

they sure could hire mizayaki or someone in that line to work with del toro

I said it would have revived a dead franchise. Not P.T. being the revival of the franchise.

They had all the right ingredients to have Silent Hill make a comback:

- Norman Reedus, who has a huge following in the horror community

- Guillermo del Toro, one of the most gifted directors of the past 20 years, and a healthy twisted mind, perfect for this franchise

- A ridiculously successful teaser trailer and hype

- Hideo Kojima. With the kinds of crazy stuff he has us believe is possible in Metal Gear, a game somewhat grounded in reality, imagine what he'd have been able to accomplish with Silent Hill.

How do you fuck this up? Silent Hills could have been this generation's Dead Space 1.

Not unexpected, but still sad to see Konami finally kill off the last remaining franchise of theirs that I care about.

RIP Silent Hill. Thanks for the memories.

Most amazing no one spilled the beans yet on what actually happened/happens behind the scenes. Disappointed in you, Schreier.

I hope Kojima comes out with a story after he leaves. I don't expect much before that unless someone involved leaks information.
