Biggest Let-Downs Disappointments you've had with Gaming

Well, there was this POS:

That dropped the ball completely on this:

In fact, they lost the ball and is still yet to be found.

Edit: Tippy-top of the disappointment page! How fitting.

Every MGS after MGS1.

They took the story to such WTF levels that I dont even care anymore. Also I hate how people keep defending the story saying "Oh its so deep!". No, its needlessly convoluted and falls on cheap monolog info dumps as its main method of telling its story.

Dead Space 3......what a horrible horrible piece of lazy-microtransaction-ridden shit.

Persona 4 - Anime: The Video Game. There's too many anime tropes I can't stand it.
Star Ocean 3 & 4 - Story and characters are awful
.hack//G.U. - I'd like to call this the Shadow the Hedgehog of Japanese developed RPGs because I could barely handle how edgy the main character is.

SSX Reboot
Hitman Absolution
Deus Ex: Invisible War
Destiny
Even-numbered MGS games
Dead Space 3

Each crushed me in a unique way, ranging from being completely different from the predecessor to being a complete farce based on developer promises. Good lord, this thread is depressing. I had forgotten about some of these games.

The biggest gaming disappointment I can remember was Yoshi's Story. I followed the game with anticipation before it came out and begged my dad to let me buy it on launch day. I picked it up along with the strategy guide from Walmart. Took it home and beat it in two hours. I don't think I played it again after that.

Mega Man Legends 3 being cancelled was the worst for me.

Suikoden Tierkreis was also a pretty big disappointment.

SOCOM 4. What a travesty that game was. It put the final nail in the coffin for SOCOM, my favorite franchise. Hopefully H Hour will be good.

Silent Hills and Mass Effect 3's ending for sure.

Persona 4 Ultimax should also fit the category, because it was my most hyped game that I ended up hating, but gradually realizing how much I hate it helped me ease into my disappointment.

ElTorro

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
The Wii U so far.

Shitty GamePad, no Mario game on par with SM64/SMG, no new Zelda game (yet), no Metroid game, shitty VC service, still no account system.

Mass Effect 3

Nothing comes close. If it would have been just the ending that disappointed me than I couldn't care less. Besides a few moments I can count with one hand this game was just a letdown after two amazing games.

Every Assassin's Creed I bought after Revelations

Was a huge fan of the series up until the turd Revelations. Hoped Assassin's Creed III would be better and it was an even bigger turd. Than everyone said that Black Flag was good and it wasn't.

Mega Man Legends 3 is probably tied with Silent Hills for me. Also every single Yoshi game after Yoshi's Island has been a letdown.

Hmmm...Saints Row 3 wasn't as good as 2 or 4.

Not strictly gaming related, but the Silent Hill movie. :((

Yeah the first one was serviceable but the second one was just so so bad.

MCC.

Nothing else even comes close. I thought it would be a slam dunk and instead it was like when that Louisville player snapped his leg in half.

The middle 5 hours of bioshock infinite. Everything surrounding it was GOTG stuff but that filler bloat in the middle killed the pacing and made the rest of the game feel tedious.

It'll be said many times, but man, every time a show goes by without TLG, I just walk away more disappointed. I should have learned by now, but a part of me expects it every time. If it's MIA at E3 this year, they are insane. Such a great chance to make everyone go nuts.

Silent Hill HD Collection is one I'm frequently bummed about. It deserves a proper HD version. Let's hope in 10 years or so Konami will have sold their IP and we get a proper remake.

Destiny.

I guess I was being naive.
Specially early on, the way they talked about the game and the details that appeared made me think it would be awesome. For a moment there I truly belived they were making the next Halo, as in the next big and influential step for multiplayer shooters on consoles. Except with a rich Sci-fi universe that would rival mass effect

Sadly, it turned out to be a bad MMO with guns

Considering everything they said and showed before release, not really.
I'd still say it counts.

It sort of slowly went from super exciting to super dissapointing with each new showing:

First Trailer: OMG cool new IP with an interesting setting, cool graphics and seems to be about hunting supernatural creatures

First Details: It's a cover based shooter, not what I expected but it will probably still be awesome. This could turn out to be the Gears of War of this gen

Talks about cinematic: Doesn't have to be bad. Imagine a cinematic experience like Uncharted but with you fighting all sorts of crazy enemies with cool weapons, mabye this knights even have special skills or something

First gameplay demo: Well that sure looked like an uninspired cover based shooter. But... you know, there is still plenty of time before the game comes out. Mabye they just don't waint to spoil all the cooler parts of the game this early

Next few gameplay demos: Aaaand it still looks like an uninspired linear third person shooter, I'm starting to get worried

A week before release: Oh... so it's 7 hours long and half of it is cutscenes? Damn

Games is out: Oh... and it has no replay value, the story feels like a prologue, enemy variety sucks... yeah no thx

Kotor 3 never happening.

Those two games revitalized Star Wars for me after the stench of the new trilogy. I remembered good Star Wars tales could be told with interesting characters and emotional connections.

Then they threw in the towel and sought money with a crappy MMO.

Assasins Creed 3

Also GT5 to an extent, but that's because I fell for the wayyyyy overblown hype (never again).

Maybe Watchdogs too (the driving made it almost unplayable).

The Star Wars: Galaxies expansion Jump to Lightspeed. Having played the X-Wing series, i was expecting an MMORPG version of that. Get stationed on a Calamari Cruiser or a Star Destroyer. Go do missions with squadrons and do cargo raids, attack enemy outposts, and deal with familiar ships like Corellian Corvettes, Strike Cruisers, Platforms, and everything else.

Instead, you have to talk with this guy who operates out of a shack. You have to provide your own ship (except at the beginning, where you're given a Z-95 or TIE Fighter). None of the familiar craft are around except for enemy fighters. Doing missions with partners was a pain because you couldn't share them. The targeting system made no sense. This wasn't the X-Wing that I wanted.

The other big one was the Mega Man X Collection. Now to clarify, the MMXC is a great compilation of the first 6 X games, and even has drastically reduced loading times. However, during production, a lot of things were promised. X4-X6 were going to be redubbed. Zero's Ensuizan in X6 was going to be remapped so you don't accidentally kill yourself. X1 and X2 were going to get music remixes. X3 might have been able to have the SNES and PS1 versions of the game. There was going to be so much extra content that the GCN version might require 2 discs! Then it was all trashed because Capcom wanted to put the effort into Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X, which while an excellent remake, wound up bombing, and thus the MHX series wouldn't continue, another disappointment.

Square Enix dicking around with 2 sequels to the most divisive Final Fantasy game ever. I loved FF XIII but don't think it needed two sequels. If anything it hurt the franchise and turned a lot of people off or Final Fantasy.

(A digital-only port of) Yakuza 5 for NA being announced three months after I sold my PS3.

CRUSHED.

I'll re-buy a PS3 for this game, I guess.

GTA 4

It changed everything for me in gaming. I now over analyze games before I buy them. Never will I get burned again, I can't even force myself to play through the expansions. My last memory of attempting was The Lost and the Damned, I was having a hard time getting myself out of a building as I was half asleep because the game put me in a "boring teacher sleep now" mode. It controls horribly, and the colors are pretty much black and white.

Mercenaries 2 - The first game was SO good, how did they mess it up so bad in the 2nd one :( Ruined what could have been a great franchise. I wonder who has this IP currently?

Mass Effect 3's ending - So bad It turned me from a crazy read-everything-fan-boy to barely caring about the next game.

GTA4 - "an Oscar worthy story"..... uh huh, rather the worst GTA of all of them.

EVERY STAR WARS SPACE COMBAT GAME SENSE X-WING ALLIANCE. I hate what the Rouge games did to space combat.

Square Enix's one week teaser website about The World Ends With You.

Many were expecting a sequel.

Hint: it wasn't.

Made me become so wary of teaser websites and stuff. Till date, the only publisher I still put my faith in is Atlus. Not even stuff like Star Ocean 5 can put Square Enix back into my good books until they finally make good on a proper TWEWY sequel.

it did give us that new 7 days image, but nothing came out of it yet

Master of Orion iii

Moo2 was such a masterpiece and then the long wait for three and it was basically just an auto run spreadsheet with a fresh paint job. Really disappointing. Sigh.

343i in general. Halo 4 and Halo Master Chief Collection were both complete disasters. The sooner they're let go from the Halo franchise, the better. Until then, any interest I might've had in what used to be a franchise I really liked is gone.

Also, Slime Mori Mori 3 still hasn't came west. Really disappointing because it came out during the incredibly dry first year of the Nintendo 3DS, during a time where Nintendo of America played a hand in localizing Dragon Quest games. I'm still not sure why the hell they didn't bring it over to fill in gaps while a system is doing poorly, but Nintendo's ability to fill in dry periods has just been terrible this generation.

Came into say Halo: MCC but got some ideas from other posts, so aside from that: Devil May Cry 2, Max Payne 3, Socom 4, and GTAV not taking place in Vice City for me...
