Halo 5 Guardians: #huntthetruth

I hope that Halo 5 looks amazing not in terms of graphics but in terms of scale and enemy AI. Hopefully 343i puts gameplay over graphics this time around because the increased graphical fidelity of Halo 4 brought some limitations that made the actual game worse.

That being said I can't wait to see campaign gameplay at E3.

I think that with the move to 60FPS, 343 will focus on art-direction and gameplay over technical graphics. But it'll still probably be among the prettiest of 60FPS shooters. Personally I'm fine with H2A visuals at 1080p. The multiplayer maps look like Halo perfected. Halo 4 was too neon, and too cyan and orange for much of the campaign. Spartan Ops help put me at ease though, with its exterior maps. I hope they'll have large scale battles with lots of vehicles and possible approaches as well.

Edit: top of the page, why do people worry about that?

This is probably, why we didn't see huge battles in Halo 4.

The leader is Locke. Unless you mean something else, that I don't get?

Yep, graphics are nice but not when they are hindering the things that made the series unique. Good graphics are nice and all but the very nature of visual fidelity is that it gets old pretty fast and games that we thought that looked incredible start to lose their wow factor after some years while things like good encounter/level design and impressive AI never get old, a level like The Silent Cartographer or The Covenant still impress me to this day even if the games look dated by now.

As in the colour, his visor is blue.

Their visor color.

Coincidence? I don't think so. Illuminati in Halo 5 confirmed.

I really didn't like Halo 4, from a gameplay perpective. Story was fine, once you knew the background of Forerunners and other stuff, like why Cortana splits in several pieces. I find it sad, that they also blew up Requiem in Spartan Ops, like it's nothing...

Frankie teased battles like Scarab battles already, so that's one thing to look forward to. Before you ask, I don't know in which thread, but I'm 100% sure he did. :P

There are only so many ways weapon customization could be done so that it doesn't just make hardcore fans hate it. These precision weapons without scopes are really worrying me...
I guess I would be fine if they just let us take the scopes off the BR/DMR/etc and nothing else. But what would be the point of that? You'd just be gimping your range for no benefit.

What are you honestly worried about?
That it'll have an effect on gameplay. I know the arena is already there and it's even starts, etc. but I would seriously hate it if the gameplay was effected by weapon customization. I feel like the community was pretty vocal about what we didn't like in Halo 4, and this feels like it's a step in that same direction.

That being said, I'll hold out real doubt until I see it in action, I'd be happy to be wrong and I'm still looking forward to what's in store.

Yeah, theres really not much we can discuss till we find out more. :/

I have a lot of high hopes, I don't think they'd do anything that drastic for the Arena mode at least. Cosmetic/aesthetic only (hopefully).

I'm getting too hyped for this, #believein343.

So what else do people think is going to happen today, just the release of the rest of the pictures or something more?

Regardless of what they decide to do, I'm sure it'll spark a fun conversation. Like you said, though, I'm very hopeful that they'll do well by the progress they've made.

I stand by my assertion that no scope indicates classic scope while a tangible scope indicates ADS. It's a clear distinction visually, seasoned players will know what weapons to go for, and newbies can equate "has a scope = has a smart scope." I also feel like Locke is, in some ways, mirroring the classical / unwavering diehards of the original games while Chief is the "idealist" and open to making adjustments and welcoming the new, etc.

Josh Holmes said:
Regarding classic zoom, there have been a number of requests for a toggle option to enable this. We're not able to support a universal toggle for all weapons because each weapon in H5 has been built around the new SL system. However, we are looking at creating some classic/legendary weapons with a more classic style for zoom functionality. I'll be able to talk more about that after E3/GC this year.

Not sure what this has to do with your post, but I figured I'd bring it into the discussion anyways.

Who says its vs? Maybe they're gonna work together, 8 player raids coming to halo. 343 gonna out-bungie bungie once again.

I'm assuming Locke's team will die horribly given Blue Team was given all the attractive looking armour marks and Locke's team were given all the bad designs.

havent really been keeping up with the thread but just saw the poster! the other spartan IIs are in? buck? so hyped

Suggestion for Halo 5 ending

*war zone*
Prom Phoenix: I DON'T LIKE YOU
#TeamLocke: I DON'T LIKE YOU EITHER
Blue Team: I DON'T LIKE YOU EITHER
*standstill, nobody making any progress*
Blue Team: Wait a minute #TeamLocke, let's work together! Something something ONI coverup something something power of friendship.
#TeamLocke: Okay!
*Team #BlueLocke teamshots Prom Phoenix in two seconds*

I must admit some sense of worry from the blatantly cyan and orange design. That's the biggest issue I had with Halo 4 visuals. It's like using comic sans for anything.

Edit: and why have they revealed the blocks like this? Now it's only boring ones left. I hope there's a sign of the flood in the bottom part, at least then the biggest clue would be still to come.

Wait someone else continued the work and kept the haloorbit logo? Thats nice :D

Too bad a lot of stuff happened yesterday at a time after midnight in germany, so I couldnt continue finishing the pic. Nevertheless I will put the last parts together we got today and release the original size version without watermark when it's completed.

Personally I thought the visuals in Halo 4 looked phenomenal. Screenshots stolen from Blue Ninja, VisceralBowl and Glass.

He's referring to the color palette. Orange and cyan are dominant in a few spots in the game. (And silver hues even more so.) Look at the first screenshot. :-P

Weapon customization IS coming, might as well strap down for the shit storm when it hits.
