I don't mean to create hype, but earlier today, over at Kinda Funny, they ended their daily Colin and Greg Live show with a notice to come back for something secret at 2PM Pacific. I didn't really think much of it. I figured they had a special guest or something. However, I happened to go over to GameSpot.com to see what was on the docket for their weekly episode of The Lobby and I saw this as the description:

This week on The Lobby we talk to Tim Schafer about Broken Age 2 and Rob and Chris tell us about their time with COD: Black Ops 3. Plus, we have a super secret special announcement. Tune in live at 2PM Pacific to find out more.

That can't be a coincidence. Can it? Is there a game being announced? Maybe some sort of partnership between the two (which would be kinda awkward since Kinda Funny is made up of former IGNers)?

I don't know, but apparently the Kinda Funny guys visited Insomniac Games a couple of days ago.

I think Ratchet & Clank might be saved up for E3 though.


It doesn't sound like Gamespot's special announcement is related to a game, but rather some kind of partnership or acquisition maybe.

That's actually true. Danny has said before that, for instance, Giant Bomb's viewership numbers destroys GameSpots' viewership numbers. Good thing they're sibling companies at CBSi.

It's mellow because this isn't something that is weeks or months away. Those are the threads where hype builds and builds and festers. They are so much fun. I can't wait for the inevitable E3 hype thread.
