Crimson Desert feels like something special!

I came into this game not following any hype or announcements. I haven't been lurking here lately as I started a new job. I seen on it on psn as a new game and then looked at some trailers and immediately made the purcashe as a single player gamer who loved rpgs of all types, this game looked like something that I would enjoy. No woke shit, eastern dev. I dig eastern Europe janky rpgs I can love Korean made fantasy rpgs even with some jank (I played through Gothic 3 at launch, the jankiest of games ever).

At first I wasn't digging the game as it opened up weird, but as things moved on and I came back from death to go to the first town that's when I seen the magic, to me.

It's not about the fighting, although that seems good too so far, but the world design. The fact that everything is explorable. Climb able, little details like catching insects and petting dogs. Mining, cutting timber, cleaning chimneys, crafting of all sorts, arm wrestling, etc.. Oh and even things like wood and metal medieval cranes are fully player operational. Like all the little details are here. It feels like a breathing world, not like a amusement park.

I spent all morning just exploring the first town and some of the outskirts. Only only had a few minor fights and even so I am loving this. The fact that everything is documented and you unlock entries to me felt rewarding. It's not mindless. I get it and it's my style of game.

Now it may suck later on, don't know, but from what I've played so far it's amazing!

And honestly people need to be less picky bitches when it comes to epic single player rpgs. We don't get many and when we do they are western made filled with woke shit. I gladly support a studio that seemed to put in a lot of effort to make a believable world and fun game. If we don't our hobby will become like mobile gaming no single player and only gaas slop.

Anyone here loving this? I see some threads of people bashing it due to steam numbers... To me what game on steam lately doesn't have people bashing in every review? On ps5 I haven't had any issues so far.

I'm loving it. It's honestly so fun and it's making me feel like a kid again. I got used to the controls after 3 hours.

The biggest issue is people going in thinking this is a strong narrative driven game like Witcher 3 or RDR2. It's not that. This is a sandbox driven action adventure similar to Zelda: BotW and some of Dragon's Dogma.

It's so good, I think it's better than Witcher 3 actually. Yes I said it. Both have different strengths but I'm enjoying Crimson Desert more so far.

I'm all for this, but does it have actual dungeons and shit with enemies that lead me to cool items. Is there any form of a story?

Sorry, I've kinda kept it off my radar apart from I want to play it. I kinda wanted to go in blind and also hear feedback from actual users on here.

I am having a blast, the game is huge, with so much going on. I am loving it

It might be but i wont be going further with a game that has moronic and overly complex controls - its utter shit.
What overly complex controls? It's different but not complex. L1 sheild, r1 fast but weak strike and r2 strong but slow strike. L2 bow. Dagger when sneaking, O is dodge, x for running square for climbing and jumping. Triangle to mount horse. Left for quick wheel or sheathing sword. What am I missing?

Maybe it's because I have been playing games since the 1980s when you had to use arrow keys or keyboard commands on ascii roguelikes, those are complicated this not so much, just different. Back in the day every game had unique controls.

No traditional dungeons like Zelda I've seen in my 5-6 hours played, but there are a lot of cool puzzles scattered everywhere that reward good useful stuff. I have come across secret caves, interesting mysteries, etc. The world is awesome to explore and feels rewarding.

The game gives you a ton of useful tools and abilities that you can use a number of ways. For example, you can raise your sword to reflect the sun...this can be used to solve puzzles, it can be used to blind enemies, it can be used to light things on fire such as vines to open up hidden passages, it can even be used to cook raw food on the ground which come very handy.

There's also a free hand/hookshot like ability that allows you to use on objects to rotate for puzzles, which you can also use on a tree to catapult yourself far into the distance. They did good with all this sandbox stuff.

Reminds me more of a modern take on Gothic 2, but in a bigger world. It feels like an explorers dream, which is where I think the disconnect comes for some. Some people want fast action all the time or to be handholded the whole way with cinematics.

It's just a different game and we needed this. Something new. There is room for both. Witcher 1 to 3 were amazing but a different style of rpg, one that was about a book character. I feel this is more about the world and setting than anything else so far.

I'm having fun with it overall but many things about it are frustrating and need more work. It seems like they're determined to iron out issues though so we'll see how that goes.

Sounds glorious!, right up my street, thank you. Can't wait to fire it up once I'm back from my holiday

U got fricken 4090, bro, thats 2nd best gpu avaiable currently, imagine what majority of players having ps5/xsx (or godforbid xss) or similar to that perfromance pc gpu gotta experience, they are like those avg/below avg dudes trying to pull a baddie, then push comes to shove after they download crimson desert, and suddenly game defaults to 1080p dlssed/fsred to hell and back, medium settings and is like:
yay-me.gif

Still not stable 60fps :messenger_loudly_crying::messenger_loudly_crying::messenger_loudly_crying:

Doesn't feel focused in its first few hours. Struggling to get into it at all. I like the combat and music - that's it.

Can you kill or yeet all the animals, including cats and dogs? That was a pet peeve for me with Tears of the Kingdom and its obnoxious dogs.

I'm interested in this game, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Still not sure exactly what to expect from it.

What existing game is it most similar to, if you had to name one (or two)?

This game feels like an MMORPG disguised under single player mask , not saying it's bad but it's not for everyone
