Devil May Cry 4 SE: Vergil, Trish & Lady Playable, Release Date 18th of June

Although that doesn't take care of Proud Souls, and actually, the DLC might be region locked, so that might be a no go.
 
So I've compiled a lot of the footage that we've been getting from Capcom's event. Naturally, since it's from the niconico stream understand quality is 360p/480p at best. Remember some of it you've seen before, some of it is new. But I think it would be nice to start compiling it together in larger videos.

There is also one segment of footage in which the sound was terrible with annoying background music and commentary so I just overlayed Vergil's special edition theme over it. These guest challenges are interesting because you see people of various skill level. And even poorly skilled players are picking up Vergil very quickly. Vergil seems very pick up and play friendly.

I also have an hour and 50 minutes of Vergil gameplay where he's a new game Vergil going through the missions all the way up to and beyond the Berial fight. So...that's mission 4 + right?

I was right. That one combo string where Vergil two hands Yamato is the default combo in DT. That's so cool. I expect to see a bunch of different combo modifications in DT.


I already talked about it and it's a carry over from DmC.

Ah I hadn't realized we knew it was after almost every move with just timing. My bad.
 
Damn, the stream didn't have enough motivation to keep going, apparently.

Still, Vergil is looking more and more like my kind of character and gets me really excited for this game. Quick efficiency is just my kind of style.
 
The stream numbers were pretty good too. IIRC, DmC DE only cracked about 300 or so, but this one was getting higher and higher by the minutes.
 
It seems like Gregaman just doesn't know if the Japanese version of the game will have English menus/descriptions or not. He can't speak to it since it's not a Capcom USA product... but at the same time, they're offering it as a prize, so I wish they'd be able to confirm one way or another.

The version Itsuno was demonstrating at the Nico stream had English text iirc (the movelist in the shop was in English) and when he was selecting new game it let him choose between English and Japanese voices after he selected the difficulty.

Awesome, thanks! I think I missed that part because it was before I realized the Youtube stream and niconico stream were going to be showing separate things.
 
People are going to be mislead by the teleport cancel thing.

The true teleport cancel only happens when you have a sword embedded in an enemy. Then when you teleport you are literally pulled to the enemy mid animation. You can cancel some moves with the regular teleport but the embedded sword teleport cancels pretty much everything

But of course this needs to be tested with every move.

Yeah. The guy is really talented when it comes to playing, but he can be a bit irritating with all the hypothesizing in his opinion videos.

Anyway, that was a great stream. Lots of fun to watch. Looking forward to seeing Trish next week.

Are the JPN versions region-free? I thought there were some restrictions in place.

No restriction. Region free. The only reason I might hesitate is because of the language thing, but BadWolf basically confirmed the Japanese version would have full English descriptions.

The only thing is, I suspect we'll get a hefty discount in the west for being digital only. If you want a physical copy, though, importing is the way to go.

Play-Asia has the regular Asian version for pre-order at $33.

Alright then. I don't mind the digital only release, but the physical version looks neat. I had the Collectors Edition for the original DMC4 on 360, and that was a pretty nice package.

The thing is, these places are buying the e-Capcom edition from the e-Capcom store since it's exclusive, then shipping it to you at a premium. They're acting as a proxy or courier, more or less, so it's added risk if you decide to cancel on them.

That said, you can find proxies that are cheaper, like dv8cag. I have mine pre-ordered from dv8cag for $75, and I anticipate around $10 of shipping when it finally launches.

I don't understand why Itsuno doesn't bring back the rising mechanic from DMC3 for the gauntlets. It was in fact perfect. You could do a non charged rising launcher if you wanted, a charged standing launcher, a charged rising launcher, a non charged standing launcher etc. Instead in DMC4 you are confined to using a standing launcher or a charged rising launcher.

Yeah, that's something that should be changed back in the future games. I don't mind the way it charges (since it opens up "Just Frame" releases for extra damage), just don't like that the moves are tied to the individual charges. Makes the hand-to-hand weapons a lot less dynamic in DMC4 than in DMC3, imo.
 
The difference between the Just Framce (aka Perfect Slice) Judgment Cut in DMC4 and in DmC is different. In DmC it was basically a more powerful version of the move but in DMC4 not only is it faster but the frame properties are way better (much faster start up and better recovery). Like the Just Frame version comes out instantly.

It's like the difference between WGF and EWGF from Tekken.

There's no reason why you can't have both the just frame charges and the DMC3 method of inputs.
