The ending of the ep. was soooooooooooo tense.

Also Kakyoin confirmed biggest Jobber among the JoJo crew.

Seriously, if there is F-Mega and a "oh that's a baseball" kickstarter I would make sur it reaches his goal faster than Yooka-Laylee. The announcer is fantastic.

Still a little bit disappointed that this fight isn't over yet but I understand since it was pretty long in the manga

They will probably wrap up this fight in the first half of the next episode, like they did with Boingo/Hol Horse Part 2.

Since the next episode is called Vanilla Ice Part 1, the encounter will probably start in the 2nd half

Second what type of writer would really have Kakyoin going missing for like 20 episodes only to appear again just to quickly go to a doll like state? Its not only offensive to Kakyoin but embarassing to us viewers. Sure its nice that Jotaru will probably rescue and save him gloriously (I cant wait I hope), but Kakyoin deserves some kudos and accolades in this season. Everyone else got some so why cant he?

I do kind of agree with this part. It makes a "grand return" pretty anticlimactic when it ends up like this, and unlike Avdol's.

These games are so silly. Someone said that the "comedy" episodes were done after Boingo's return, but this skirts a weird line between silliness and seriousness. I suppose the juxtaposition is pretty good.

I dunno, I kind of like Kakyoin coming back and then just losing because it fucks with your expectations. Pretty much every shonen has a part where the character comes back and owns the tough opponent to show how much he's grown.

Except Kakyoin is a weak loser

ok that's a bit mean but he is kinda weak. thankfully the next few parts split up the fights more, as opposed to the first three parts where the main character pretty much dominates everything. Which he should since he's the MC, but the side cast is one of the best parts of JoJo

This is unfortunately true about Kakyoin for the most part. I like the guy and he's probably my favorite character in Part 3 but he doesn't get to do much.

I'd probably have been more into it if I didn't just expect Kakyoin to lose from the outset because of how Jojo's Part 3 has handled fights thus far (especially thinking back to the other D'Arby one with a similar format).

What really would have messed with my expectations is if, for some reason, Jotaro went first and lost. That would be a real, "Oh shit, they're all screwed," moment.

You make a good point about Jotaro, I cannot deny that.

One of the reasons the final fight in Part
4
is so good is because almost everyone has a role in it.

Episode 41

I thought this episode was a real step up from the norm, both in terms of the cinematography and the actual quality of the production (art and animation).

There were lots of neat flourishes, like: the canted camera shots, the unusual perspective (both high and low) and the split-screen effects:

The close-ups were also pretty great:

Even though the characters have been essentially immobile in a fairly small location for two episodes I wasn't bored by what was going on and a lot of that is due to the inventive cinematography.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Stardust Crusaders - Episode 41

I dunno, I felt the pacing was a bit off in this one. Too much time wasted repeating lines and Joesph being a bad backseat gamer and what not. He was right to call out Jotaro but it went on for way too long. I also find it weird he never called him out on the fact that Jorato said Joesph should not play because he's never videogamed............

Also, considering this is supposed to be 1987, these games are a "little" too advanced for their time :P

Also the way Kakyoin lost reeks of bullshit........or at least it did til the implications of the end of this episode. At the very start though, before those "revelations", it did seem pretty fucking stupid though :P

Bwahahaha! 'Cool Ice' really Crunchy, really?

*shrug*

Better than "Iced" from the English Dub of the OVAs

I felt in this episode, and some others in the past as well, that the proportions seemed off sometimes. Like sometimes Joesph's hands seemed way to small for his body. Did you not notice it this episode or just disagree?

Eh, I feel like that happens more often than not. Probably the result of an enemy stand.

That specific trailer doesn't look to have any spoilers for anime watchers so I think it's okay for the thread.

The game itself sure as hell will though.

Jotaro is the most boring character in the entirety of JBA. Gary Stue as fuck. Literally every other member of the crew in this series is more interesting except Kakyoin, who is a perpetual jobber with no character development. Show would be more interesting if it was the adventures of Joseph, Polnareff, Avdol and Iggy. Joseph losing to D'Arby the Elder was some bullshit.

EDIT: ugh late night posting cant spell for shit

Once again I get my hopes up that we will have a wholly competent episode and I end up yet again massively disappointed because the writers believes that he is smart and intelligent. I wish we had a true master storytelling doing this anime as it would really be much better than this. When your characters are saying things like this, then you know there are significant plot issues all over the place
First that is just bad game design and I doubt there is any game that would allow you to take some shortcut like that. The writer favors cheaters way too much. The clock is ticking down in the season, so hopefully we can get back on track for a fantastic conclusion.

Also Joseph is pretty rude gamer.

Stop.
Writing.
It.
Jotaru.

Jotaro, Joutarou or even Johtaroh for all I care, but not Jotaru. Your spelling is wrong.

I don't think you know what a Gary Stu is, because it certainly isn't Jotaro. And Jotaro is a great protagonist, I don't know how anyone could think otherwise after the D'arby fights. Bluffing a win against a pro poker player/cheater with quick reflexes and sheer attitude.

Great episode. Enjoyed it and I loved that they had a similar tense ending like the first D'Arby fight!

It was the perfect fight for Joseph to shine again (it was a battle of wits), but no, they had to put Jotaro in the spotlight. Again.
(still like the fight, though)

Well, Jotaro IS the protagonist of Part 3. Seems most people forget that just because he has a supporting crew.

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh, this is a 3 parter after all. God damn it I want to get to the next fight already.

Edit: Or...not? They're not calling it D'arby the Player part 3 but Vanilla Ice part 1 even though the D'arby fight is not over yet. Well, ok then...

It's sorta like that from what I heard

Well, Jotaro IS the protagonist of Part 3. Seems most people forget that just because he has a supporting crew.

which is why Part 3 isn't really one of the best Jojos :P

It doesn't matter what piece the of fiction, whenever there is an ensemble cast with a designated "leader", nobody likes it when the supporting cast "jobs" so that the main protagonist can look cool/cooler. Admittedly, juggling a large cast to ensure that they all get good screentime is very hard but if you fail, people will rightly critique you on it.

I have no problem with Jotaro getting the most screen time, but him and Polnareff are basically the only people that do anything. I think Polnareff alone equals the amount of wins between Kakyoin, Joseph, Avdol and Iggy combined. Luckily Araki utilizes his casts better in every part after.

I got my mom into Jojo and its fucking hilarious. She thinks the designs are cool, but she absolutely hates the "to be continued" so I promised not to show her anymore until the season is over.

I really like this idea! I can totally imagine Jotaro saying something like "I'll kick your ass quickly so we can deal with Dio" and then getting his shit pushed in so that Kakyoin can finally not job.
