Except it's a she. And the noise at the end of this episode decoded links to stolengauntlet.com, which possibly refers Halsey's missing arm, which redirects to the glitchy Ford commercial uploaded to youtube by Shar Eldy, an anagram of Dr. Halsey.
 
I guess we'll get some clues on Wednesday when the Hunt the Signal stuff goes up. It seems like it should be Halsey with the YouTube channel belonging to an anagram of Dr. Halsey and it linking to stolengauntlet.com.
 
can't help but think Hunt the Signal is separate from Hunt the Truth's story. my theory, since most ARGs deal with events leaving up to whatever they're promoting, is that the weird signals from space are what we'll be tracking, and it leads to Halsey and M'dama and whatever they found from the Absolute Record. Those messages from Halsey's AI, that were in the code? Probably messages to us, the players. Taunting us for not getting what she's sending us.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm almost positive they are seperate campaigns that intertwine overall.

Hunt The Truth is more promotion for the game, Hunt The Signal will be where the real fun starts :D

More seriously, IDK. It's not confirmed to be Halsey or even anyone associated with her, she's just the character most hinted to ATM. Has anyone pieced together the time-frame of these episodes compared with the stuff happening in the comics?

Bear in mind that hunt the signal (or part of it) appears to have been leaked early. If we follow the trail laid in these episodes, we have crazy conspiracy guy talking about shenanigans in deep space, then appearing a few episodes later saying he's working with a woman who is very savvy, whose very mention causes hardboiled investigative journalists to freak and who is interested in talking to someone who is looking into the origin of the Spartans. Then at the end of the same episode we get an "encrypted" link to stolengauntlet and all the Halsey related stuff it entails. The two will probably be tangential stories, but with some interconnections.
 
Great Episode!

Can't see Pharaoh being Halsey to be honest - regardless of how much the crumbs point to her.

I'm now even wondering whether M'Shak is not possibly ONI in some form - something's fishy.

I'm wondering whether Osman and co are manufacturing this whole thing using Giraud as a patsy to make the whole thing look like a journalist is uncovering 'the truth' when it's all simply different lies to fit their agenda. Let's say Pharaoh purports to be Halsey... what damage could that do?

I love me some intrigue (probably why I really loved the Kilo 5 trilogy contrary to a lot of folks!)

While as your edit notes it can't be him unless he got a sex change, I do wonder if Staffan Sentzke will ever appear in lore again, and if his opinions change at all. Also if his Huragok got its required repairs from others of its species.

I was wondering if HuntTheTruth is more of the "#teamChief side", uncovering the facts, while HuntTheSignal is more of a "#teamLocke side", actually finding the "signals" from the "Pharaoh". In other words, HtS is ONI trying to find Halsey. We get ARGs from both sides of the story, just as we'll get to play on both sides in H5G.

Just my theory for now, though.
 
Episode 6 was great. Really enjoying this so far. Looking forward to following along with hunthesignal. Don't have the mind for taking part in ARGs but I love watching them unfold.

ARG solvers are like Forge map makers. They do amazing hard work doing something they love and everyone else gets to enjoy the results.
 
Spent like 10 minutes inputting the binary code only to realize it had already been done... lol

Btw has anyone figured out the 27, 248, 117 codes?
Does Halo star scope have any relevance to the ARG? (Probably not). Or is that the supposed reveal date perhaps?

Anyways, I was re watching the Halo 4 Commissioning E3 trailer last night. And stumbled upon a phrase that the narrator mentioned about Infinity. That the ship is meant NOT to wage war but for the discovery of new worlds for man kind.

Now I wonder. If the two H5 live action ads for Chief and Locke revealing Infinity in flames and severally damaged on both sides of their story along with Sanghelios being in rumble and both Spartans are apparently to blame. Leaves me to question if In the ship Infinity had a huge role in the destruction of the capital city?

The planet that the Infinity is above has a statue of the Master Chief, with writing in English, so I'm guessing that's not Sanghelios (though I guess anything is possible).

Infinity was designed to help find and secure the remaining Halo's I believe, and other pertinent Forerunner tech. "For peace" in theory, but it's just as much preparing for the next war I feel (which is prudent considering the state of the galaxy).

I don't think anyone has found anything with the coordinates yet, at least I haven't seen anything.

I think it'd be incredibly cool if it was a direct link.. but I dunno. Color me skeptical.

Haha I'm pretty skeptical as well. I did find a website that describes the area itself. Apparently the area is a burial tomb from the neolithic era and is known for having evidence of the earliest attempts of agriculture in history. Ancient humans being aided by forerunners?

I would link to it but I'm working right now.

It's pretty exciting to be apart of this. People on YouTube and reddit are talking about my image and it's awesome knowing that I'm able to contribute to the community.

Could be? Obviously they put the Ark in Kenya, would it be improbable that they did something else on the other side of Africa?

I've seen several other designs though in the burial mounds, so again, I dunno. Would be cool if they found a way to "retcon" some more human history though :)
 
Finally catching up on HTT. Neat stuff. As I said before: the civilian perspective was definitely the way to go.

There might not be some intricate explanation for his luck, but there doesn't need to be. That's the entire hook. He's not the strongest, the smartest, the best shot, the fastest. He's just lucky. That's simple, interesting, and requires no real explanation. I'm not sure how "Well you see he's the best because 100,000 years ago a giant grey space lady decided that..." is somehow significantly better, especially since it winds up being a drastically more convoluted reasoning that's ultimately unnecessary.

And the thing is the plans of the Librarian and the actions of the Forerunners prior to the activation of the array can still be important, well thought out, and well connected to the modern day without "she specifically planned for Catherine Halsey to born in 99,940 years, with the idea for a Smart AI and Spartans built into her brain, and a guy named John in 99,960 who's destined to be bad-ass, and then she'll find him and make him a Spartan and give him said AI so he can fight the Librarian's husband who was locked away for being a dick and will also happen to start to break free right when the planned bad-ass passes his orbit". Without the few key lines that directly bring up this destiny aspect, you still have the same basic overall story. It all still fits and works. The Forerunner's guiding hand can still be there, just not QUITE as omnipresent as a couple conversations make it seem. But as is it's overly complicated, unnecessary, and diminishes the actions of Chief (and Halsey, and humanity in general) because hey, he was destined to do this.

Honestly, they could very easily have not included this "chain of destiny" while still arriving at the same overall state of the universe too, which is why I hope they don't focus on the destiny aspect too much.

"Destiny" is no worse than that luck shit the books and movies always pulled for the Chief, as far as I'm concerned. I suppose that is why I didn't mind the geas stuff as much as others.

You must then accept the T&Cs to be taken to the next step of the journey.
The competition requires a team to win.
A team of four people (all usernames need to be different people) must be the same team the whole way to win)
Entrants that satisfy the entry requirement will be eligible to enter into this Contest as long as they form part of a team of four entrants. An entrant can form their own team or alternatively there is the option to be automatically placed into a team with three other single entrants. It is not possible to enter this competition as a single entrant, only four people teams are eligible. Only one (1) entry per person per journey path will be accepted so once an entrant has been assigned to a team, they cannot join another team and start the journey path again. An entry is qualified by the following: the entrant must complete the pre-determined steps, as part of a team that form a path with a dedicated start and end point. These have been created by parties working with Microsoft. This will involve numerous code-breaking and puzzle-solving activities that progress a consumer through a logical journey. Team members will have to work together to complete some puzzles whereas other journey paths require each member of the team to complete a separate action to access the next puzzle. All instructions will be given to entrants via a super admin messenger where the team members can also talk to each other. Multiple journey paths have been created, but they all culminate in the opportunity to gain access to a prize for the top 3 winning teams. Participants of journey paths which may offer physical prizes may be required to further submit personal information securely at later stages should they successfully reach the final stages of such journey paths before any other participant.
