I watched the first part yesterday and the guy making these videos cracks me up constantly, great sense of humor. Perfect example that you don't need an angry persona to be entertaining. I wish he did more videos on games that i'm interested in, i could listen to him for hours. :)

so, do we know the day of this week when the console footage will be released?

Between now and when it's released? I can't imagine it being more than a few days before release at the latest.

People act as if they have something to hide. As far as straight-forward companies go, CDPR has more or less been quite frank with it's fans since The Witcher 1 days. Some of the people freaking out should just hold their horses. I'll tell you how it'll go:

PS4 will have a higher resolution than Xbone. Both at the same framerate. Xbone will of course get the, "Glad I have a PS4" comments, and PC will just sit on it's throne quietly, judging. Afraid to flaunt it's resolute deliciousness all over the faces of it's console cousins as it doesn't want a ban.

im only interested in knowing if the ps4 version has vsync, that is all, if not than PC it is, why would i consider the game on console if i have a capable PC? because i work on a PC all day and the last thing i want to do is get home to another PC, i don't mind 30 frames as long as no screen tearing is to be found

The problem is the false marketing to the console crowd. "Oh hey new Witcher 3 gameplay. oops that was from a PC in 4k 60fps"...

Whats your problem that some people want to see footage from their platform of choice?

Its about time to show this thing running on one of these consoles.

I have the game preloaded for almost 3 weeks now on my XboxOne. And im worried that ive wasted money on the inferior version. Because if there is no issue with the console versions and if it looks amazing on this too, why not be proud and show it?

No one held a gun to your head forcing you to preorder :p

I don't get the false advertising claim. That version exists, on PC and it is labeled as such.

I knew this thread was missing something! The i work at a pc all day guy! Welcome back sir.

I agree with you about the pre-order thing, but not releasing any footage of the console version yet is not normal procedure and there must be some reason behind this that isn't likely to be positive.

Lol please there are many games where PC users are kept completely in the dark on how the game looks and runs. You'll get footage before the game comes out so relax.

Rarely do we get footage of all three versions of a game. Usually we just extrapolate based off the version shown and the typical kinds of differences we see between the platforms.

This is very normal. It's not like mid and low range PC owners know exactly how The Witcher 3 will look and perform on their systems either. They just have to make educated guesses based on the high end PC footage shown.

The Witcher 3 just happens to be a more PC-centric game. Console footage will come, but right now it's pretty easy to get a general idea how it will look and perform based on the previews, the little bits of console footage we've seen, and simply considering how most games on consoles stack up to the maxed out PC versions.

But it's not false advertising. False advertising would be showing you the game in all its glory and releasing the game on the consoles with worse graphics with no PC version in sight, you know kinda like Rockstar did.

Who said it was false advertising? It just makes me think they are not confident about how people will respond to it.

Someday I'd like somebody to meaningfully describe to me how looking at a different sized screen makes all the difference.

This comment just screams ignorance. Not everyone wants to sit at a desk in a chair with a 24" screen.

Sometimes, I want to come home and sit back on my couch or bed and play a game. If I have anything below 32", then I can't do that comfortably relative to the viewing distance. It doesn't take rocket science to realise why people like bigger screen sizes. C'mon, son.

As for what you say maybe so but then people are not forced to preorder and give them shit for not releasing footage.

People with lower end machines wanna see how the game looks too on those settings, but they know full well they will have to wait till the game is out to see it. And as others mentioned we are 2 weeks away from release, they still can deliver said console footage.

The "are we there yet" posts isn't going to make the footage come any faster imo.

So, still no console version footage? Are we supposed to pre-order this game for the Ps4/Xb1 on PC gameplay alone and trust them? This is getting annoying.

Quite decent amount of stuff in pockets and only 29/60 of carrying capacity used. Weights for stuff seem quite a lot more reasonable in TW3 than they were in TW2, should make more hoarding minded people rest more easily :)

You have ~2 weeks to pre-order so calm your horses and wait for that footage :b ETA is this week.

I work on a PC all day and I still like to come home and play games on my PC. I lay back on my bed or couch and play my PC games pretty much the same way I play my console games. A console is really just a kind of locked-down PC anyway. They can both connect to the same types of displays.

There's benefits to PC and console gaming both. There's plenty of times where I'd rather play something on my console despite having a kick-ass PC. PC's not some end all be all, no need to put down others for a preference. Especially in light of yet to be seen console footage.

I kinda dislike the inventory screen on this game. Looks cheap and outdated (Diablo-styled).
The Witcher 2 inventory screen was superb.

If the game doesn't show up this week with any console footage, I'll be hard pressed not to believe that a massive fuck up transpired somewhere.

I'm tired of these conversations to be honest. I would LOVE to build a rig to play on, but I can't afford it and I don't have the space for a rig in my small place either. I can afford games now and then and get them on console.

I'd love to see the console footage, but can wait. I have no other options and if I can only play on console, I have no choice anyway, so it doesn't matter how close it gets to what we've seen unless it looks like garbage. I need to see how it plays, and it will be reviewed before release, so I can wait for that too.

Admittedly seeing such great graphics is like seeing something amazing and knowing I can't get that same exact thing at home, but that is my situation, not everyone else's. I don't see the need for others with superior things to rub other people's noses in it.

The game looks great, enjoy it. I'm sure I'll enjoy what I wind up with.

PC is too complicated and expensive for me. I can live without the benefits of PC due to price and complexity involved in hitting supreme image qualities that I'd need to be motivated. I can't live without the exclusives libraries on consoles (and their bespoke home theatre convenience).

So I mostly admire and indulge from afar, with lots of streaming and occasional play sessions on my friend's PC (who sadly has decided he prefers consoles too). PC is on my wish list of electronics, it's just fairly far down the list.

PS4 is out for reviews, so I suppose that simply calls Xbox One into question since there's a good chance that footage is holding up PS4's footage due to marketing requirements.

The Witcher 2 inventory screen was superb.

As someone who just played TW2 through with KB/M I have disagree with you. Those menus are such pain to navigate and use with mouse, they feel so sluggish and unresponsive.

Filtering stuff by some logic? Fuck that, lets throw shit around and lets see what is where.

I thought the TW2 inventory worked with KB/M?

It was so awful with a controller that I just assumed it was made for KB/M.

i dont have to lie, i mean what i say, working in front of a PC is tiresome, i just wanna get home and relax :(

Oh my god, that's really cool in a creepy way seeing my monicker like that ;)

Also that was my last monitor!

Your PC setup does look a bit cramped vs your TV setup. Mayeb that's the problem.

I'm still deciding between GOG and physical.

The GOG discount (I'd get it for $47.99) is tempting, but I live on a data cap so 35 gigs is tough. Plus I might also be getting Wolfenstein Old Blood this month which is the same size. Wish I could get some kind of physical version discount.

The entire Witcher 2 UI is gross with K/M... One of the reasons I haven't finished the game yet even though I had it pre-ordered the moment it was available.

It got better with EE release, became more responsive and smoother to use. It's slitt sluggish and good away from smooth to use if you have too many items in category X to create slider. Sliders aren't that hot to use in TW2.

Doesn't help that my mouse wheel is dying so can't use that :(

Edit:
Well, if we're talking about navigation, perhaps you're right. There are more types of items in TW2 (15 types) while TW3 looks like only have 5 item types. So, finding certain item in TW2 would be a pain if we're not yet aware of its type.
However, I'm talking about the design. The overall color, the grids and the icons.

Fun thing about TW2 items is that some stuff is flagged to multiple categories and then within category stuff is just thrown in there without any logic or order. At times you get to browse up and down few times before noticing what you were looking for. Not very smooth experience, imo. Also not sure we have played same TW2 if yours had inventory with fancy icons and grids :D Sure you get small icon for item when you highlight it, but TW3's inventory is icon based fully.

Hmmm, someone works over night :).. yeah, it's definitely a hard life in No Man's Land :D

This gets me thinking... I wonder how clunky navigating Roach will be. Hopefully he can leap over most obstacles, because getting a horse up to speed isn't fun.

Props to them for using the Ocarina of Time horse system though, that was a good choice. (Stamina, speed boosts, etc.)

At least when it comes to the fences in this particular village, roach can definitely leap over them.
This was shown in the associated video (source of this screenshot). Don't know if this applies to all obstacles though...

Does MS have some sort of preload deal with some devs? It's odd that they seem to get some preloads like a month ahead of time.

Doubt it. Everyone else is probably just sticking to their usual schedule of preloads, dunno why MS decided to do it so early.

TW2's inventory went way overboard with its categories and items that in some cases could have been condescend and in others placed elsewhere. Diagrams/Formula in particular didn't need to be inventory items. Mutagens didn't need its own slot. Same goes probably for lures, given how useless they were.

Speaking of, something like lures would fit open world game design far more than TW2. Shame they appear to be gone.

There's always the expansions, EatChildren. Or so we can hope.

Good to know. Thanks!
