AP: NFL finds it probable that Patriots deliberately deflated balls

As a lifelong Colts fan, the Colts probably would have lost that game anyway. But the Pats sure shouldn't get away with cheating, even though it didn't mean a damned thing.

Slap them on the wrist and tell them hey knock that shit off, and get on with life.

I believe this has already been implemented. Only officials can now take care of the ball. QBs won't be allowed to break them in.

Funny enough that they started allowing qbs to do so per request of Brady and Manning.

Goodell is Kraft's guy. Goodell would probably be out of office if Kraft wasn't backing him. Goodell absolutely did not want to investigate the Pats.

Because it's fun.

Dammit, it's fun watching greatness as the rest of world's teams wail and gnash their teeth when their favorites fall just short yet again. And even if you beat the villains today, you know they'll be back again some day, making everything exciting.

All this hand-shaking and good sportsmanship of today is tiring. Like it or not, sports are always more interesting when there is a clear-cut villain to hate.

The title of the thread follows the report which is pretty damn conservative in its use of "probably".

Brady was definitely part of this. The text messages make him and his lackeys look extremely shady. And the cherry on top is Tom's refusal to turn over his phone. If he was innocent what does he have to hide? His lawyer would have been in control of the phone.

Anyone with a brain who saw his press conference and the way he reacted after the Colts game could tell he was guilty at the time.

But lets keep coming up with excuses for the cheater. Hell lets not limit it to Tom. Maybe Mrs. Mayweather and Rice were bad wives, they deserved it!
 
So according to Exponent, the psi range should have been 11.32 to 11.52. The average Prioleau psi reading was 11.49 (probably the original psi test numbers). How can you conclude that the balls were lower than what the ideal gas law predicts? Also, it's nice that they don't have concrete pre-game numbers.

If Goodell was smart and just the punishment of the Pats would be that Tom Brady would be forever banned from the league and finned $50 billion dollars, the Patriots would get to keep their tainted titles but an asterisk would be placed next to each of their wins during the Cheat and Brady era and their names would be officially changed to the Cheating Cunts, and Kraft is forced to give up all contact with the team for the next 10 years.

Throw out the numbers. Ignore the AFC championship game. Any real, punishable, evidence is in those text messages.

I'm not a fan so my opinion mostly stems from me thinking the whole deflate-gate issue itself
is overblown. The NFL took 4 months to say a non definitive statement. I do think Brady cheated, but the hyperbole from both sides is hilarious. The colts were still gonna lose and they slaughterd Denver. So your punishing them just for principal here. Which is fine. But the dude I quoted is looking for lifetime bans. It's hilarious.

For example, using the most likely pressure and temperature values for the Patriots game balls on the day of the AFC Championship Game (i.e., a starting pressure of 12.5 psig, a starting temperature of between 67 and 71°F and a final temperature of 48°F prior to the balls being taken back into the Officials Locker Room), these equations predict that the Patriots balls should have measured between 11.52 and 11.32 psig at the end of the first half, just before they were brought back into the Officials Locker Room. Wow, finally got time to read the report. It's pretty damning. There is no doubt Brady knew what was going on, not just in that game but all season. Plus giving these guys signed equipment and shoes, plus Brady refusing to cooperate (and the Pats refusing to cooperate by making the ball manager available as well).
 
Brady should never be let in the HoF, let him cry in Gisele's lap about not being at the cool kids table with his hero Joe.

Being a 6th Round pick and all you just have to cut corners.

He's definitely the best QB to ever drafted after the first 5 Rounds though.

cheatriots deserve harsher than the softcore punishment that they will get from the nfl

but the saints are the biggest cunts who paid people to criminally injure other human beings. not even close to tempering with equipment. belicheat should get suspended for a year, but the Saints shouldve been kicked out of the nfl
 
I'm just tired of the Pats taking the cheating reputation. Back in my day the Raiders were the cheaters and that's the way we liked it.

Saints punishment was enough.
teams do that sort of stuff all the time. We just got caught.
I think the year suspension and other stuff was justified. However tampering is very serious cheating and should be punished severely.

What are you getting at? Yes, it's unfortunate that the officials only got around to testing four of the Colts balls but they all show a consistent, scientifically expected behavior. The simulation they ran also confirms:
The results from the game day simulations agree with the “predicted” results from the transient curves. They also agree with the average measurements recorded for the Colts on Game Day. They do not, however, agree with the average Patriots measurements recorded on Game Day, regardless of the gauge used. Specifically, the average Patriots halftime measurements from Game Day are lower than the lowest averages attained by the Exponent simulations.
