AP: NFL finds it probable that Patriots deliberately deflated balls

Yea, it's really annoying in these threads.

"fuck the pats and all their fans, cheating cunts".

"Well fuck you too, you're just salty"

"Oh man Pats fans can't even agree with us, see, they are delusional idiots who back a cheating team!"

I mean, what other responses do people think they are going to get out of this stuff?

No point in trying if all you get is venom, so fuck it, salt gifs forever!

See what I mean?
Salty implies that people are jealous. No one is jealous of Patriots fans at this point. No one wants to have all of their favorite teams championships constantly questioned in terms of legitimacy.

Yes; Appendix 1

You do know Aaron Hernandez was also convicted on purely circumstantial evidence, right?
Having his DNA on the shell casings = circumstantial evidence?

Also, you need to read that giant ass Appendix 1 - because it beats the science down. It's unbelievably scientifically sound. They absolutely nail the Patriots on the "science!!!" excuse. The salt on being caught is super real.

I read the part where they denied the categorically and demonstrably true.fact that vigorously rubbing the footballs before the game raises their internal temperature and results in a larger decrease in pressure once introduced to a cold environment. But hey, this is the same investigating firm that denied that secondhand smoke causes cancer in a previous report, so maybe Science just isn't their forte.

No? My post that you quoted doesn't illustrate your scenario at all. Keep fucking that persecution complex chicken.

This is exactly what I was talking about btw

Some of the mental gymnastics from Pats fans is entertaining.

Never mind the implication that this was potentially going on for years per the text messages.
What is your penalty for cheaters? Do you put a mental asterisk next to their name? I'm genuinely curious. Because when we go down the list of hall of famers, we can start listing the cheaters that you aren't doing this to, I'm sure.

I think both sides need to come to grips with a few things

Pats fans - your team cheats. It's obvious, it's documented. Embrace it. Love it. Be the bad guy.

Colts fans - they could have played this game on the moon with tennis balls and the Pats still would've whupped that ass. It wasn't close, you never had a chance, better luck next season.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Sweet baby Jesus did you really just suggest that no fans are jealous of Pats fans due to video taping a practice or letting air out of their own balls????? If you really think fans of the Bengals, Browns, Jags, Jets, Bills, Dolphins, Redskins, Chargers, Raiders (and the list keeps going) wouldn't accept 4 Lombardi trophies in the last decade (+) compete with the salty tears of fans from other teams you are delusional.

The fucking 49'ers won 3 rings with Rice admittedly using stick'um during that run. I don't see anyone calling for those rings to be taken back or an asterisk put into the record books. I don't see anyone calling for the Broncos to give back the rings after they were caught skirting the cap when they won the Superbowl.

Did the Pats deflate those balls, most likely. I personally think they did, there is too much evidence to deny it. But even during the investigations I was reading about other QB's fucking with the balls and another long time QB even talk about deflating the balls and saying it was common practice.

Teams pipe in fake noise and constantly disrupt headset communications. Teams used to fuck with the balls that the opponent teams were using before each team used their own balls.

I see proof of cheating everywhere in the league, you can't deny it. Cheating has always happened and will always happen, every team right now has PED laced super humans, but the league and people don't care as long as you keep face and pretend it's not happening.

Seriously, it's like baseball. Everyone was doping, nobody cared because for a long time people weren't testing positive, then the cat was out of the bag and the illusion was broken. Every pitcher is using some type of illegal grip stashed either on their glove or in their asshole, nobody cares as long as you pretend it's not happening and try to keep it discrete.

Spy gate caused an insane media shitstorm because most of the information that was initially used was hyperbolic in nature. The Patriots broke the rules because they were stealing signals from a non sanctioned position. That's it, that's all it was. Before 2006 it was legal to go where ever the fuck you wanted to steal signals.

And guess who ratted them out for doing something that was still legal, but just doing it in the wrong spot, the Jets. The Jets were doing it too, but the Jets caught the Pats and created one of the biggest non issues ever in the NFL. Even to this day false information about the Pats taping the Rams practice is thrown around as proof, just showing how much stupid mis-informed garbage came out of the coverage of this event. Or my favorite "THEY BURNED DA TAPES", even though media members saw all the evidence during the press debriefing.

And all of that stupid shit has created the notion that the Pats are "perpetual cheaters", that everything they do is completely tarnished and the leagues integrity is damaged solely from the Patriots actions.

But nope, the Patriots are literally destroying the integrity of the NFL and tarnished it for the past 15 years.

This is basically how I feel.

Patriots have been painted as the villians of the NFL ever since they started getting succesfull. This isn't a conspiracy its just the natural tendency of sports. Everyone hated the yankees for being so successful too. In soccer it's crazy how easy it is to just dog on the good teams.

But the thing that irks me the most is how the the TWO things that makes the pats "perpetual cheaters" is Spygate and Deflategate. Both of which had a negligible affect on the game.

So many people don't know why spygate was. They think some patriots camera man snuck into stadiums like a spy and set up shop to learn enemy strats and that the evidence was burned. lol. Everyone from the pats, to outside consultants, to even the teams that were filmed said there wasn't any competitive advantage.

Same with balls that were slightly deflated, especially considering the Pats donged on the Colts with inflated balls.

And yet we have had, and still do, and probably still will have players and organizations that cross the lines and do things that are much worse than spygate or deflategate ever was.

I guess I'm just upset that the team I support has been vilified for two incredibly small infractions and the amount of misinformation that has been spread and essentially turned into facts in the eyes of many. Especially with spygate. And yet teams that have done worse, more competetive edge gaining things get off relatively scott free*

*many of them get punished but you don't see the shitstorm in the media and public about it.

I'll also end that little rant by saying that I acknowledge the rules were broken. I'm disappointed in Brady for lying about it. But good lord what a non issue compared to the rampant PED use and concussion scandals. If you want to investigate the patriots investigate Edelman's possible concussion during the superbowl and the other teams that have done the same.

Salty could mean a lot of things. Anger, Bitterness, Jealousy stuff like that.

If those four trophies came with constant doubt of if they're legitimate or not I think most people would rather they didn't get the trophies at all. The trophies don't mean shit if you had to cheat to get them.

I'm a fan of a hockey team that's only been in a Stanley Cup once, and never won. I wouldn't want them to become a dynasty and win four cups if it meant that every time they did something shady came out to question the legitimacy of each Championship.

Just because YOU don't care that your team is shady doesn't mean other people would want your shady ass team.

I think this is where I am. I don't know if it's me admitting cheating or just starting to really enjoy the salt. And yes it is salt. People can't tell me that they don't wish their team would "do what it takes" to be in contention for 15 years. =D
I actually can't wait for the scene this year when the Pats take the field on away games.

Except everyone in the NFL cheats. I think literally all the NFL championships are tainted with teams who cheated, at least in the past 20/30 years.

There is not a shred of doubt that they won those games in replays or record books, and the notion that "most people" wouldn't want their teams to win due to a couple pounds of air pressure or an unauthorized video recording is so silly that it seems you need a hug and reassurance that some day your team might win too.

anyone have that quote handy where Goodell says even if there isn't 100% certainly of cheating, the teams/players must be punished?

My team has won. A few years back in fact. I don't need reassurance about anything. Didn't need the commissioner to destroy any evidence after the fact either.

Hey guys, the Pats definitely deflated footballs but this report is garbage.

I hate the Pats, and I think this is overblown, no pun intended.

But the Pats did this at the worse possible time. A terrible PR year for the NFL and during a key playoff game and SB run.

The NFL has to respond.

Well let me be the bigger man and apologize for assuming you were a fan of the Jets. The salinity level of your anti-pats' posts made me think you were a Jets fan.

To the poster above, I will concede there may be some harsh discipline. Not because the NFL thinks this is a real issue of importance, but because they are desperate to get the spotlight off of the murders, domestic abuses, child abuses, rapes, etc. Best way to get the media off of those scandals is to create a new, silly scandal where they can flex their muscles and show the world how much they care.

Then nearly the entire NFL Lombardi Super Bowl history has to be wiped. Cheating didn't start in New England and it won't end there neither.

I love how just stating that I don't want my team to be constantly questioned on if they cheated or not makes me "Salty" to you.

It has nothing to do with the Pats themselves. I'd hold the same opinion of any team that won four championships on the back of shady practices. It just happens that the Patriots are that team.

Brady needs to step up to a podium now and take his lumps like a man. No deflecting, no blaming, take responsibility and beg for forgiveness. But he won't because he's an entitled white male with lots of money which is why he thought he could get away with this in the first place.

If you guys are gonna be calling trophies into question then the only one you can possibly do that for (as far as the Pats are concerned) is the 2015 one. If you reallly think slightly deflated balls is the reason the Pats dominated.

What the patriots got in trouble for in spygate was legal until that memo was sent out in 2006. Other teams were doing the same thing at that time. Some times didn't bother because they didn't think it gave them any advantage.

I thought the rulebook lays out a 25k fine for this infraction?

If any individual alters the footballs, or if a non-approved ball is used in the game, the person responsible and, if appropriate, the head coach or other club personnel will be subject to discipline, including but not limited to, a fine of $25,000."

They can do more if they want.

Doesn't matter, nobody reads stuff that contradicts original notions.

or the fact that the dude who busted the Pats said this.

“If there is a decision I could take back it’s easily that decision,” Mangini said. “Never in a million years would I have wanted it to go this way. It’s disappointing whenever it comes up.”

Mangini, who was an assistant on the Patriots’ three Super Bowl-winning teams, says he has never believed any of the Patriots’ titles were tainted, and he’s surprised that anyone would suggest they are.

“It’s regret, it’s disappointment, it’s all of those things,” Mangini said of the way he views Spygate now. “Because I know what it took to win those Super Bowls and I have so much respect for the people that were involved there. I’m disappointed that this is what it’s translated into.”

This is Godell's NFL. He makes stuff up as he goes along in terms of punishments.

I think the NFLPA will have to decide or approve the punishment.

You're right, but wasting your breath. A winner found breaking any rules is a forever called a cheater. A loser found breaking rules (Falcons and crowd noise) is laughed at forever.

Patriots reported to cheat

Pats fans: Yeah right, y'all are jealous.

Patriots confirmed to cheat

Pats fans: The 49ers did it, so it's ok

Really? Is that what I'm seeing? Two wrongs make a right? How sad.
