Splatoon Direct - 7th May 2015

The art for this game is really, really sweet.

Online match feature rolling makes little sense to me but they're probably not *that* ready but they need Splatoon sooner. It's free, though!

This is still May 29th correct? I'm a bit worried that they didn't reconfirm the date, and the first splatfest is late June.....

It is a bit disappointing the demo is at specific times, I'll try it out later tonight though

Oh goodie, the demo's when I work. Why not all weekend? >.>

Also we have to wait for August in order to set up private lobbies? We can't play with gaf until August??

Pretty much, unless a whole bunch of people add each other and try to play in a random lobby in Regular Battle by joining through each other... but that's assuming rooms aren't immediately filled.

Honestly surprised that custom games are a post-launch feature, it really shows what their priorities were with this game. Still, I'm going to buy it day 1 and enjoy the fuck out of it -- all those FREE updates? That's some serious support, Nintendo really wants this game to do well.

Wow, I wasn't sold until now. This game has sooo much personality it blows my mind, and the I had no idea there were boss fights. Can't wait for this game.

waiting 4 hours for a different map. (or you know, returning later and seeing the same maps again)

only 5 maps to start out.

get it cheaper if you download the demo... but then have the apparently challenging squid amiibo challenges tied to a retail package. (uk/eruope only i guess. and i'm australian! not sure what's happening here... 3-pack maybe? ugh. but i don't know.)

this was a bit offputting.

Demo idea is cool but would've been cooler to just make it all weekend, or atleast the whole saturday. Hope I'll get to try it out on Saturday.

Oh, *stops refreshing eShop*

From the official Splatoon Testfire page:

7th May 2015 – Are you a budding Inkling wishing to whet your tentacles before the launch of Splatoon on May 29th?
Announced as part of a squid-dedicated Nintendo Direct, a free Splatoon Global Testfire demo is available to download from Nintendo eShop for Wii U from 16:00 (UK time) today, enabling any Wii U user with a broadband internet connection to play – at specified time periods – up to three hours of 4-on-4 online Turf War battles on Saturday May 9th only!

Link wasn't added as a newcomer in Smash 4 either :'(

The dream is dead.
But he is a playable character. The Mii costumes are likely because the Inklings (if they're DLC) won't be ready in time for the game's release.

Mark my words, in either Smash 4 DLC or Smash 5, we'll get the Inklings.

The idol duo is so unexpected though, but it's really cute. It's almost satire, but as a fan of pop I am living for them.

I also like the payload-ish game mode they showed as future content.

The demo times suck. The only one at a half decent time here is the 12-1 PM one, and even that's not great for me. GUess I'll have to stay up until 1 AM tomorrow/Saturday if I want to play.
