The game seems super super awesome (but we already knew this), i'm just very skeptical about the idea of introducing the most interesting online options (team matches with friends) later on, in August.
I mean, WTF?
What's the sense launching a game without those options?

I do wish team matches were available from the start, but I sorta understand their reasoning.

If Team A is better then team B, they always win, and earn more points or whatever the currency is in this game. They buy better gear, thus increasing the gap over team B.

But if you randomize teams, everyone moves forward, everyone can purchase better gear, and ranked battles will be available sooner.

I'm thinking that if private/MK8 style lobbying won't work until a later update, GAF will have to organize games the Smash Bros way. But it seems like you should still ideally be able to get a lobby going with more fellow GAFers fairly easily if people share friend codes, since it has MK8's "jump into friend's current game" feature.

Gonna have to get a spreadsheet going for the OT.
