AP: NFL finds it probable that Patriots deliberately deflated balls

As a Pats fan this is what bothers me - it's weird and I can't see how it's not a straight out lie.

There is 0 reason he should've given up his cell phone though. I can't imagine how you can be a person with any sense of privacy and say that he should've just handed it over to a third party.

Your obsession with the word cunt is really weird and borderline creepy.
Brady's own lawyer would have controlled the cell phone during their review of it. At least read a summary of the report!

And does a better word for the Pats than cheating cunts? I think this is pretty accuser but if you can do better I will use your preferred slur of the cheaters.

I've read plenty of summaries and as much of the actual report as I've been able. More as a matter of principle there's no reason why Brady should have to share his freaking cell phone in a non-criminal investigation and I think most people (and the Players Union) would agree.

And yes, I think there are better words.

They knew all this information way earlier but good ol boy roger doesnt want to hurt his relationship with kraft. So all this happens AFTER the draft. How convenient.

Examples?

Also correct me if I am wrong but I think they wanted his work phone. Pretty much every employee, like the two equipment guys, usually has to turn those over when requested.

Kraft was the most vocal owner in support of Goodell during his period of interviewing domestic abuse victims and making them have press conferences to apologize for throwing their face into their football player husbands fist.

If the NFL wanted to skirt this under the rug it would have came out a week before the draft.

Why do people think this coming after the draft is somehow a good thing for the Patriots?

Really Disappointing in this, as a PAts fan, Im thinking of just following another team that doesn't depend on cheating ways to win...

I like the Pittsburgh Steelers.....Ohh wait, Bell just got Suspended for 3 games for Cheating....

What About the Giants...no, not them either a Player got suspended for 4 games for the same reason...(they even fixed the 46 Champinship..)

The Eagles? ...nope...

Colts....? A guy named Laundry got 4 games suspension.

Sight, the NFL is one big Joke where cheating is part of its culture.

No pats fan would ever consider going for the giants in ANY circumstance. Show some giving back bone. You might as well say your consider going for the jets just now.

Bell got suspended for cheating?

:lol

He got suspended for smoking pot and hanging out with a Patriot (who only got 1 game for the same shit).

Ah maybe, in that case it wouldn't be as bad, but I haven't heard any distinction. Based on the fact they don't have his cell phone records, my guess is it's not a work phone.

I'm confused about this too. This period is probably when the NFL calendar is lightest, so it will actually get the most airtime in terms of NFL topics. Maybe people think Goodell is trying to save them draft picks? I think that's a stretch anyways, but even if so the Patriots picks would have been at their least valuable this year out of any.

Im a fan, not a Fanatic. besides my post as an illustration about Cheating in the NFL, I wont change my team over this Dissapointing news.

NFL GAF rolling into Off-Topic is like the Ghostbusters containment center being opened.

I love it, baby! :D

"Is this true!?"

"Yes, it's true. This man has no dick."

I believe I read and heard on a NFL podcast that it was a work phone but I didn't research it further.

So NFL has a video of Tom Brady talking about the report. Q: Has the report detracted the joy from winning the SB? "We earned and achieved everything we got as a team." Please Tom stop talking, you clearly have some of the worst PR people trying to help you out last few months.

wut?

What's he supposed to say to that question... "Yes, this report has detracted from winning the Super Bowl and I have been sad ever since..." after he's just gone globe trotting over the last 2 months, gone to the Kentucky Derby, and Las Vegas .. 4 days ago?

Brady's PR has been good throughout all of this.

That didn't work out for Sean Payton.

I think there's a marked difference with a head coaches coaching staff organizing a head hunting fund raiser and two part time shlubs "filling footballs to the size of beachballs to get those size 11 Nikes."

Takes active negligence to ignore one and passive negligence (Belichick) to ignore another.

Still, I agree, he could get served a suspension if Rog wants to look like he doesn't favor the Patriots/Kraft.

Someone should ask him why he said he doesn't know McNally when that's looking very unlikely ...

jim-mcnally.jpg

Yeah definitely clear evidence that they're best friends here... If Brady didn't know that guy he definitely wouldn't have sat on THAT bench. I heard Brady seeks out the benches that McNally randomly stands at because they're so close

Check out this secret shot I found

VERY Clear evidence that Tom Brady is in cahoots with this woman. She just HANDED him an underinflated football and now he's marking it as his own by putting his initials on it!!!!

WHAT MAINSTREAM MEDIA WONT TELL YOU ABOUT THIS LADY AND TOM BRADY

No he spoke the truth he definitely earned it through a "team" effort. HAHAHA

Anyone with a brain knew he was guilty 10 minutes into his interview after the Colts game.

If that is good PR than what is bad PR?

So, you may have blocked this out, but Tom Brady started the Super Bowl against the best team in the NFC, and led his team to a thrilling victory. Let's say that he takes your approach, given that you are a PR master, and he says 2 weeks before the Super Bowl "Guys, I have to come clean, I asked these two guys to doctor our balls after the refs checked them."

You realize... he would have been suspended for the Super Bowl, right? His team would have lost, and you would have thought he was a cheater (with good reason, he admitted to it).

These sorts of things break down by fan bases. If you are a fan of another team, Tom Brady is already a cheater to you... He was a cheater after the Tuck Rule. He was a cheater after SpyGate. He was a cheater after anything else, and especially after this fiasco. Yet, if you're a fan of the Patriots, or Brady, or a fan of the American Dream, then you don't think that Brady is a cheater (back in January). So, back in January, if he says "Hey guys, there's no hard proof of it, but I want to come clean and tell you that like Aaron Rodgers, I've broken the rules by inflating footballs to my preference" then people who aren't fans of the Patriots are going to continue to think he's a cheater, the league would actually have an admission of guilt from him, and then people who give him the benefit of the doubt (Patriots fans) would have to admit this guy isn't completely on the up and up.

Or, you deny, you realize the league has basically no hard evidence on you, you wait 4 months for this 250 page report, you let your team and spokes people point out all of the issues with the report, and then you play it by ear after that. He could still come out this week or next and admit to wrong doing, but I doubt he will. THe court of public opinion decided 13, 14 years ago that Brady is a cheater, and fans of other squads doubled down on it after 2007 (with good reason). So you can either indict yourself which gets you nothing or you can call the leagues bluff, win a Super Bowl in the process, and wait until May to see what the resolution is.

Expanding on this, think of Ray Lewis after 2000. He could have come out and said, "Guys, I admit it, I was in a club and my gun went off and I was an accessory to first-degree murder. I'm sorry." The court of public opinion determined that Lewis was a murderer, fans of every other team in the NFL knew he was a murderer, Ravens fans gave him the benefit of the doubt, and he let the legal process play out. As it was, there wasn't enough evidence against him, and he went onto have a heralded, multi-SB winning career. And yet, 15 years later, fans of other teams still think that Ray Lewis is a murderer who got away with one. But, he's not in jail, he's a multi-millionare, he's a hall of famer and considered one of the greatest linebackers of all time. Dishonest guy? Probably. Bad PR? Probably not.

His wins are going to count as much as the wins of Lance Armstrong and the home run records of Barry Bonds and ARod.

Once you are labeled a cheater you no longer have any credibility.

But I agree with your logic that by lying he got to play in the SB. Let's see how fans outside of New England remember that win and the player from now on.

So many Patriots fans in here with a bad case of the "Sony Too" syndrome that you'd see over on gaming side. How does other teams being caught cheating in the past make it okay for Brady to cheat now?

Everyone cheats.
We would have won anyways.
There is only a 99.999999999% chance he did this so he shouldn't even be punished.

Those are the 3 most popular defenses.

I disagree that it'll be to that level for most people -- certainly for people who absolutely hate Brady and the Patriots, but lets remember, some of those same people claimed that the NFL conspired for the Patriots to win in 2001 as part of a 9/11 George Bush conspiracy (back in 2002, on internet forums like this, this was a well respected likely explanation for how a bottom dweller with a no-name QB and loser coach won the Super Bowl).

For one, Armstrong's records were stricken from him by the organization that gave him those records. I forget if the same happened to Bonds and haven't followed the Arod scandal closely enough. I do know that Arod was suspended for a year with incontrovertible proof from the league that he used PEDs. The Wells report says that "it's more likely than not" that Brady "probably knew" about balls being deflated. We're not talking the same level of proof here. Aside frm that, the report is also riddled with errors, including the league reporting the wrong numbers after that first week, 4 Colts footballs being below the PSI level, the research was done by a company who defended Cigarette companies to prove that 2nd hand smoke is not harmful, and the "proof" seems to hinge solely on a text conversation from October about two guys filling up footballs to the size of beachballs and rugby balls, which the report admits "they were probably joking around."

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a big Patriots fan, consider Belichick the greatest coach of our time, and consider Brady one of the (if not the) best QBs of all time, yet I think that it's likely he wanted those balls at as low as possible and yet to still get by the refs. Does this tarnish my opinion of Brady? Certainly a bit, but not very much, not enough to undo his terrific career numbers, winning percentage, and 4 Super Bowl rings. I still consider Jerry Rice to be the greatest WR in NFL history despite that he used a banned substance to achieve his records and win his Super Bowls. I still recognize the 49ers for those 4 (4?) Super Bowls they got under Rice, despite cheating to get there. I consider Aaron Rodgers as the best passer in the NFL today, the top QB playing the game, even though he's admitted that he doctors balls before games. I also recognize Andrew Luck as being the best young passer in the NFL and Julio Jones as one of the top WRs in the NFL, despite that their teams have cheated by pumping crowd noise into their stadium to aid the home team.

So, I think you're right that it tarnishes Brady's reputation, but only to a degree and not to the degree of Lance Armstrong who was caught injecting his teammates and himself with a needle, not being talked by some part time equipment guys about them putting a needle into a ball. Sure, for non-Patriots fans or fans who really hate the Patriots/Brady/Belichick, this report that "Brady may probably knew about balls that were likely to be deflated" (or whatever that zany language was) is the most damning report in history that the Patriots don't deserve any championships, all their records should be stricken from the books, and some other team should be given the Super Bowl titles from the last 15 years, or what have you. But, I'm not (and I think even most reasonable people) aren't that extreme.

Next season they should make Tom wear a jersey where his name is replaced by "Eli's Bitch", and his number is changed to 0 to reflect the number of legitimate championship teams he has been the quarterback of.

This is pretty reasonable.

Albatross are you related to Tom Brady? That is the only way I can excuse your defense of this cheater!

I think it's reasonable to point out that you consider this phrase:

it also is our view that it is more probable than not that Tom Brady (the quarterback for the Patriots) was at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities of McNally and Jastremski involving the release of air from Patriots game balls.

To mean:

"There is a 99.9999999% chance that Brady deflated footballs so he should be punished."

Now that is a much greater stretch than my position a post or two up.

Tom Brady is my waifu pillow. In that way, we sleep together every night and at least part of some afternoons.
Well first of all that is disgusting and you should probably see a psychiatrist or at least a shaman to exercise the demons that seem to have taken over your mind.

But if you don't want to be a normal person and want to continue with your disgusting lifestyle than you are going about it the right way. Stepping up to the defend the man who can't even defend yourself. Right along with Daddy Brady and his boss. Weird his wife is not stepping up to the plate, but at least he has his waifu pillow boy on his side!

The funniest part of the situation is the reaction of the fans.

Don't worry pats fans. Brady never would do anything to break the rules. <3
