So its not gonna happen then
i doubt it barring unforeseen eventualities. no lan is a killer.
wait, how are they setting it up for cons and stuff though?

the real problem is the networking for wii us, venues that can support multiple lagless netcode (though splatoon is ace) is gonna be rare
It is so easy to hold down the squid button so the enemy cant see me, look down and quickly tap to chose someone to super jump to.
I really hope the person who will make the OT will include the direct in his post because too many people didn't watched it and are only judged based on the live demo.
This would a be nice option.Hesitant to even enter this debate, but the mini-map/spawn argument is driving me nutsMade a quick gif showing how the spawn/superjump system could be implemented without the gamepad:
![]()
For clarity I just used three giant dots to represent your teammates. On an actual in-game map the enemy players could be represented as well.
So for spawning after death you could either cycle through your three options (three assumes your entire team is alive) or have your teammates represented by a button (A, X, Y or whatever) with B just dumping you at the default spawn location.
Same for the in-game superjump. Dip down into some ink, bring up the map and jump where you want or hit B to close the map and go on about your business.
Nothing would change for players who wanted to use the gamepad, but for those who would rather use a pro controller the worst case scenario would be maybe an extra half second and a button press. Not exactly the end of the world and this doesn't seem as complicated as some are making it out to be. Am I nuts?
a bot match campaign
Late I know but most of the people commenting on that gif don't seem to understand the value of what he's doing. When you rush up to the middle that quickly you can secure kills and delay the enemy team while your painters cover everything behind you. A roller with free reign is ridiculously good and when you have two people painting and two people delaying you can take a huge lead. In the gif you don't see him get any kills but at the very least he's trapped a roller. He's covering more ground and preventing a ton of enemy ink from being layed down. In most of my matches I was able to get a couple of kills at the start which gave my team a ton of room to paint freely while delaying the enemy.See, I'm not sure about the usefulness of this technique. Possibly getaways and moving in heavily enemy painted areas. Assuming this is you, you can see your teammate with the Charger covering the same, if not more ground until the very last part of the gif.

Why do you think the campaign is just bot matches? Because it's not. It looks more like a Ratchet & Clank type platform shooter.
So basically why isn't this Mario galaxy 3?A wiley old sea captain sends you on some missions. Its hardly the format I would expect to see a tailored, level-based campaign with an arching narrative to come out of. Where is the villain, the side kick, the love interest, the lava level...?
Seems like the format here might be what I remember of the Twisted Metal campaigns I never played.
Y and backwards on the left stick at the same timeIs possible to turn 180 ? Could find any method to do that...

Can you share a shield that you've received from another player? I haven't had the opportunity to try that.
The hybrid that I'm talking about is straight from the tutorial so I would assume that most people are using it.
What sensitivity were you using?
Oh and Y is for recalibration.
Y and backwards on the left stick at the same time
What the fuck are you rambling on about?
You're not running around in arenas fighting bots. You're playing through levels that were specifically made for the single player campaign. Those are facts. It's nothing like Twisted Metal's campaigns.
No, it's probably not particularly story heavy, but I don't see how that has anything to do with your original assertion that it's nothing but a bot match campaign. It is not a bot match campaign. Period.
The tutorial just tells you can use the control stick to look left and right, not to use them at the same time with the gyro only for fine tuning like you said in an earlier post (unless that was someone else), although you could do that if you really wanted to.
Not even using the right stick might be the best control option. I don't know which one I'll prefer until I get some experience with it.And I know Y is for recalibration, which is why I said I never use the right stick. However, there may be times where you dont want to recalibrate it directly the way you are facing.
With regards, to that jump splash technique, if you really go that deep into where the enemy team is, you better hope they not suck. Pretty sure I picked off a few jumpers with the Charger a couple of times, but they may have not been doing that technique.

In fairness, I watched the direct after saying this was not a 60 product. After, I felt the same way if not more convinced there isnt much here. There is maybe 3 different competitive modes, 5 maps is real, a bot match campaign...and a shrimp with a different shoe on each of its 8 legs. Oh and you can only play certain maps at certain times of the day. A month in, the big multiplayer weekend event is "do you like dogs or cats?" Why could that not be achieved every weekend? Or, you know, something substantial instead.
The game was fun. Maybe even so fun its worth 60 bucks. I wouldn't know because I only got an hour in.
"Bot match" is probably what he's referring to. Not sure how that became so wide spread seeing as that the single player mode was announced alongside a trailer that showed that it was clearly not a "bot match" although there are fights with the Octolings which is similar (but that's the the main part of the campaign)At least, you watched and that's a good thing.

Dog, I watched the direct. I did my due diligence and it looked like like an afterthought. Like I said, I saw some challenges unique to the singleplayer mode as well as bots. If I had to say what I saw was closer to the campaign in Mirrors Edge or the time attack mode they added to that game down the line, Splatoon's SP looked like the latter. I wouldn't appreciate being led to believe it was as something as fleshed out as the former.
To me, it did not look similar to what you would get with a Rachet and Clank game. Maybe there is more media or interviews out there that would give me that impression, but I don't feel inspired to go look for that stuff.
they're clearly talking about spending real world money to shortcut to unlocks mate
Honestly, I'd rather just pay for the game and get it all. A TF2 monetization scheme would have been a huge let down.

Roughly 20 minutes in. They show the controller when they are playing through the tutorial. I believe one of the hosts asks how you're supposed to rotate the GamePad horizontally and then the dev shows off how to do it.Timestamp? I've only watched bits and pieces but every time they've shown the devs its just a face cam. Maybe you can increase the sensitivity enough so that its possible. Its definitely not with the default settings.
there's the initial trailer, at least https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EXKQQmm9EEI think he missed the news about the solo campaign story mode, there weren't any real videos about it, though.
Nintendo minture did one but they removed it :\
Yoshi. I'm tired. What are you even sayingOk? So it's just a flat out wrong comparison? TF2's monetization is contingent on unlocking not being exclusive to obtaining a weapon. Literally the first quote is counter to that because it's conflating TF2 with any other F2P game... Or try rereading the actual initial quote.
You wouldn't make the distinction unless the thing distinct about it compared to other F2P games wasn't important.

Thanks to whoever pointed out that Walmart.com still had Splatoon amiibos earlier. I ordered the girl. Used my associate discount. Dunno if I want the guy. Though that samurai armor looked pretty cool. And I think he gets the roller challenges? I guess I'll have to think about it. Hmm...
Yeah, Amazon charts don't mean anything most of the time, but I feel like this game will do pretty well, at least by Wii U standards as long as the launch doesn't go poorly (stress test worked flawlessly) and if it reviews well (core game seems pretty great, but I wonder if the amount of content at launch will lower the scores from reviewers)Splatoon is shooting up the charts at Amazon.

I know it doesn't mean anything but atleast people are buying it.

For people ordering amiibos for the actual content they give, make sure you're aware that each amiibo only gives 20 missions (which are just pre-existing single player levels with certain stipulations), an unspecified number of outfits (probably only 1), and a new arcade mini-game for the loading screens.
Be sure you know what you're buying.
Yeah but since it was confirmed in the Direct that you can add ability slots and reroll abilities on equipment, I'm very, very tempted to go for the Squid Girl. Her outfit is so cute! For people ordering amiibos for the actual content they give, make sure you're aware that each amiibo only gives 20 missions (which are just pre-existing single player levels with certain stipulations), an unspecified number of outfits (probably only 1), and a new arcade mini-game for the loading screens.

If they hadn't announced the post-launch support plans then the moment 5 stages was revealed a lot of us would have been like, "...Fuck off Nintendo" and just have not bought the game.I wonder if people would complain less about Splatoon's content if Nintendo hadn't announced the post-launch support plans. It seems complaining ramped up a lot after that (even if it's free, lol).

I'm well aware of this and I just put down a preorder for the inkling girl amiibo.
(Walmart.com still has the inkling girl and boy in stock for preorder)
It's my first amiibo! But I literally only want her to unlock that Squid Beatz minigame lol.
