Look at the Star Wars reveal. People were clinging to "in-engine" like it meant something. That game is never ever going to look like that trailer and yet people were losing their mind.
So people are at fault here because they believe in engine trailers are in-game trailers, so if we are honest here, people and the companies are both at fault here.
People believe reveal trailers are equal to the finished product, and companies show stuff which is early in development and cannot be run on a PS4 or XOne or even a normal home PC because it lacks optimization for this.
They render these on their in.house machines which are far beefier than any home PC could be.
