If you look at Square Enix's real-time demo of DX12 stuff from a week or two back, that's easily on (or past) that level. But it was running like, 4 Titans.
So I'm guessing it'll be a while.

Who seriously think this was near what we will have in gameplay ?
I'm someone who will be buying both Witcher 3 for PC and Zelda for Wii U, and I expect both will be gorgeous games come release, but for very different reasons.
It was 110% gameplay footage. It's completely obvious, and it looked completely achievable with current hardware. It's all marketing bullshit, because all the casual consumers saw it, said "i'm buying this game" and never looked back. Right now most of them probably have no idea how different the game looks at this point or can't tell the difference because they don't expect a difference, and they give zero fucks anyway. That initial impression with the jaw-dropping visuals is what created the mass hype. Those are the casual consumers taken care of. We're left crying, while CDPR assures us that there was no downgrade (a blind man could see there was a downgrade). One thing that I wonder.
Was the Sword of Destiny trailer supposedly gameplay footage. Or was it actually non-gameplay that was carefully tailored to look like gameplay.
The more and more I look it at, the more I feel there is plausible reason to think it was too good for the hardware we have.
I mean I would love for Witcher 2 intro to have been in-game footage.

I mean even I am not that guillable. Which brings an interesting point. When you do think we'll get the first actual game that looks like the actual Witcher 2 intro CGI as in-game realtime stuff?
it looks like many gaffers are painting CDP as some magical dev studio with only the best of interests of the gamers in mind. Trust me they are not. The bullshitting with the Witcher 3 started from day 1. PR is creating an overblown vision of a game that doesn't exist while the team is in crazy crunch time for over a year now. There's some bad shit going on that if GAF knew GAF would not like.
Good morning.
Anaxymenes has been vetted and cleared.
Thanks.
Actually i think i remember that...I remember the user who posted in a Witcher thread that people should now see CD Projekt as "gods" or whatever and they do shitty things too.
The user got Bish verified, but people were still very skeptic.

Posted some quotes.
This user was unto something.
Why whould it not come on WiiU?
Re-hashing this issue again doesn't seem like an efficient use of time. I think I'll go do something more logical like mow the lawn in the rain.
It was pretty harsh and i apologize, but i was a little frustrated... The point i'm trying to make is that I know what i'm seeing. I'm not stupid.

Thanks, Looks so unreal, I hope we can get this type of visuals in like 10+ years
Imagine the budget required to make a game looking like that that's not on rails.
I wouldn't be surprised to see an upcoming trend of developers shying away from showing their games before they've gone gold. It's not worth it.

Woah there cowboy, we aren't even half way through the year yet.So is Bloodborne still on track to be the only non-disappointing major release of the year?
I'm still interested in this game, but that's a pretty noticeable difference between those screens.

Have you seen a game which had radically different assets between major platforms?Willfully ignorance, I've seen the posts. Optimistic, tag quote, etc.

Except even Bish himself later downplayed it and has the game on preorder. Don't forget they delayed the game twice to make sure it's up to scratch. This looks vastly more pertinent to me than the downgrade
I don't even know anything about the Witcher 3 other than it has Geralt and a new female Witcher, and the size of the world is being apparently three times the size of Skyrim landmass. I've been keeping a reasonable blackout on whatever the game has other than those two details.
The Witcher 3 does look amazing for it's scale it supposedly has, it makes me wonder what Bethesda's going to do for ES6. They may not even step up honestly, as much as I enjoy Skyrim.

Yeah, I wouldn't be worried if it wasn't for everything that's been going on with Konami recently.MGS5 is still on the horizon. And if Konami isn't removing, cutting or changing stuff from the game then I'm sure it will deliver too.
Oh, I completely agree! It just seems like every AAA game recently has some sort of "well that sucks" factor going for it. Whether it's broken Day 1 online, tons of micro transactions, downgrades, or whatever happened with MKX PC.the graphics don't determine how good a game is and there are still plenty of other games coming out
True! Hence "on track"Woah there cowboy, we aren't even half way through the year yet.

Hopefully, they double down on their strengths (creating immersive worlds) and don't worry about chasing the story/character-oriented stuff (W3 is, IMO, much more akin to the Mass Effect games in everything but world design).
ES games are, despite having a "main quest", basically just about being a person in this particular setting, and doing whatever makes sense to you, whether that's focusing on the "story" or just living in the world, acting as you please, and developing your character into pretty much anything.
Witcher is about being Geralt, and always Geralt. While he can make different choices, in the end, he's always the same guy, and the games themselves are very story-driven.

Well shit. This actually pisses me off really bad. I know people will probably tell me "that's how business works", but... Shit....
Yeah good find, personally I believed him and therefore not disappointed today when the actual game is revealed.
CDPR has generated a lot of goodwill with their policies, GOG and W1 / W2, and many people seem to trust them completely because of that.
But companies usually change as they grow, investors start to demand more profits and this PR game rises it's ugly head.
The actual devs might be good guys for sure, but there are other cogs in the machine too.
It's probably also worth mentioning that the fact he was in a position to be privy to the information he gave doesn't necessarily mean it was accurate. Although not the most analogous situation, CBOAT doubling down on his Titanfall info that was ultimately proven to be bollocks is perhaps the most notable example of someone in the know spreading false information.
Not enough people remember this, sadly.
The fact that W3 was delayed should put your mind at ease regarding overall quality, especially when taking Anaxymenes' post into account. I've worked on enough games to know how quickly things can come together at the end. I'm picking this up day one, the trailer was great (despite jocking Rockstar way too hard for its own good).
Oh no, I meant step it up in terms of worldsize and not so much story / plot building.
Then again there are so many different areas in Tamriel that Bethesda could write about we never totally explored.
Valenwood, Summerset Isles, Argonia, and Eswyer for example.
In fact there is a contient outside of Tamriel called Akaviir that could be explored once once Tamriel well has been thoroughly drained and dried up.
Skyrim is supposedly 37.1 km² (14.3 square miles) and The Witcher 3 is 135 km/sq (52.5~ m/sq)
It's not so much the numbers that matter to me, of course, but the scale. I mean for all we know Skyrim's scale and The Witcher's scale are two different things.
I mean walking for 5 minutes in a straight line in Skyrim could be considered 10 miles covered, and the same amount of walking in The Witcher 3 could be 5 miles (I mean relative to the characters actual movement speed and the time it takes to traverse the world)
It's all relative.
Now that I think about it, that 200 hour game time sounds somewhat more plausible. I spend hundreds of hours in Skyrim and never finished every single quest.
The foliage used to look so good. It seems that they created the assets, placed them literally everywhere, then at one point decided to change the assets entirely.
Just because he was verified, doesn't mean it's true. Bishoptl also wrote this:
What about this one?

You see its not about location here though. Its about the detail in the trees, foilage, grass, draw distance and lighting. All noticeably worse on the first gif

Constant delays obviously had nothing to do with "putting finishing touches on the game". Sad to see a former PC-centric dev get sucked into the console blackhole of gutting visual fidelity across all platforms instead of releasing slightly different versions. Perhaps the story will still be worth it, but if they were willing to drink the same kool-aid Ubisoft, EA, etc... do I have a feeling it's going to feel more like Skyrim in terms of a meaningful narrative.
AC Unity and Ryse look better.
and that.
Here'a another example I was looking at, of foliage being hit hard. Pay attention to the grass and distant trees in these clips. Different times of day I realize, but the quality is drastically different.

The top image still looks great, no denying that, but the grass and foliage on the bottom image is ridiculously full. There's hardly any blank patches of dirt and the detail on the trees down the hill, and quanity of them is certainly better. Again I'm not saying the top gif doesn't look great, but its for sure not the same level of detail as the bottom one.
