Well if this is a ratings hit, everyone sounds like they'd be willing to return for at least another run as well. Duchovny has said that 6 episodes is a good amount because it's similar to shooting a movie, and that he could see doing this often.
And Gilligan didn't start writing until season 2, so maybe he can write an episode for the possible next run. It would be kind of appropriate.

I don't think it's that she doesn't want to do anymore, she just knows this is likely the end of the line. They've been trying to do ANYTHING with the X-files for awhile, and it was like pulling teeth it seems like.

They should open the new season with them sitting in a car, and then the car gets hit by a train. Maybe like, a ghost train or something.

If they manage to make a quality show, fans and critics are happy, and most importantly, Fox is happy and they want to make more, I doubt he will say NO to do 6 episodes every year.

Sure. We can only hope that the new season inspires people to check out the previous 9 on Netflix. They've got a few months to get caught up. Why ruin the surprise for them?
