So uh... is this what the funding was really for?

So glad this got funded so quickly.
A nice example of the old saying: "put your money where your mouth is" actually working. :)

Just saw on Twitter that Axiom Verge Will be 4PM and Shovel Knight 6 PM. Great then I can still see Tom Happ talk about his game.

They did mention there was already a financial backer, but that entity wanted to see what the fan reaction was going to be before fully committing to the project.

Honestly, I'm not surprised the KS met goal and did it rather quickly, but it seems like the accountants and purse string holders need that in black and white. KS has replaced the power point presentation that VCs and other moneyhats believe in.
I'm actually pretty ok with this. If taking a chance on a Kickstarter 'pre-order' is what I gotta do to convince some publisher it's worth making Bloodstained or Yooka Laylee or Mighty Number 09, I'm ok with that.

I read through the rest of it, and seeing the physical box plus disc, this is pretty much what I always wanted out of KS. :] But the (I'm assuming) publisher as you mentioned is probably the only reason they feel they can guarantee that.

So happy that they're not promising this for every platform under the sun. Please keep it that way.

Also, how would a physical Wii U version work with the region locking nonsense? I imagine it would be a pretty big headache.

They aren't dealing with a store here. They don't have to go out and do all the marketing posters and finding the right stores to display it in. This feels like its more personal and straight to the fans, which is what we should all want.

Would you of wanted marketing groups to botch up pre-order posters or would you want Koji Igarashi thanking you personally? Lord only knows the team will read your replies instead of a store just taking money from you. They don't ask you for comments or reward you like this at a store.

That's most likely why MN9 looks the way it does which a lot of people probably don't think about.

Ben Judd straight up explained that it won't be another MN9 type scenario were people are disappointed in the graphics in the end. Also pretty much confirming that they'll make a 2D shader for the 3D graphics.

Yessssssssss

I hope we get any information at all about coop!

Yeah, I just love the fact that it's optional, hope we get both offline and online options.

haha nice, Judd with the OBJECTION on our doubts :D

Still havent back yet, happy that it got the goal !! I'm not sure if i go with 250 or 300 one yet... a signed game worst 50$ ?? It probably will stay seal because they gave a digital copy....

It's no wonder Konami passed on this sort of thing. I'm not part of "the fans" really - I would hope it caters to my interests as a human being, not as someone who was gonna buy it anyway. :(

If only there was a design your own boss as a tier. That could be an awesome way to all chip in together and get some GAF representation in.

Personally, I'd like to see what it actually looks like before I commit. But the art doesn't grab me as much as the old Castlevania, which is a shame.

Judd talking about the art style on the stream... paraphrasing: "We know nailing the visual style is important and fans are going to be very critical of this. There are plenty of games that have nailed the 2.5d style, like Guilty Gear (YES!) and Stryder (Wait what the fuck no!)".

so conflicted. i hate them for physical edition. it's hard to resist....

Do it.

I love the fact that there's a physical release. I'm getting really tired of the 'non-AAA means digital only' mindset. I would absolutely have paid $60 for a physical release of Axiom Verge for example.

Interestingly some doujin titles in Japan are now going to be physical on PS4, there's no reason more games like this can't have at least small physical print runs even if the prices have to reflect the smaller run. I'd buy them, I think a lot of people would.

Also poster half a page up complaining about $30. Another thing that needs to change is the recent mindset that smaller game = cheap.

Only question is, does the digital copy through KS also include the bonus content like the swordwhip and the extra boss?

The character design looks awful, especially Miriam, which looks too moe for my tastes (look how they drawed her legs to look cute).

Especially when the last Castlevania from IGA had this character design.

No way.

I think it's about as exotic as Catherine was. They're just adding tattoos (magical scarred tattoos).

I really doubt that the work necessary to port UE4 to Wii U or Vita would justify sales.

If I had to guess, I'd say they're planning a smaller, less ambitious companion game, along the lines of Mighty Gunvolt, that will be released on Nintendo platforms.

Maybe it's too early but a Nintendo NX port makes way more sense? The Wii U is pretty dead in 2017 and the 3DS successor has been officially revealed.

Doubtful. Even PS3/360-level hardware should be able to handle a more 2D-esque style than what they went with; GGXrd isn't a perfect comparison, admittedly but it runs just fine on PS3 AFAIK.
