Koji Igarashi Kickstarts Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (2.5D, backdash, 2018)

I always feel like WiiU for these projects is out of some sort of tradition rather than a WiiU being people's only way to play the game.

I'm curious how long he had the core concept for this since it sounded like he was looking for a while to find someone to publish.

Doesn't this kinda change the whole concept of kickstarter?

If we get X amount of dollars that will prove to a publisher we have been talking with and they will give us even more money to make the game.

I can't read this whole thread, but has it been mentioned that the actual budget for the game is about $5M, and the KS is just to show that there's demand to get the rest of the money from their secret publisher?

Some people missed it but others in the thread have showed up to clarify this. Thanks goodness Iga mentioned the outside funding in the video but we are all human and people will still miss details.

I still want to know who this mystery publisher is

Does it mean that the real budget of the game is 5m? This would be great.

I wish he'd be more transparent about this. Being honest to your backers should be a vital part of crowdfunding, but I feel like he's not quite telling the whole story about this publisher thing.

I swear this isn't the first time I've heard about something like this with Kickstarter, but can't recall what else there was.

Does it upset you that much that indie games do well on the Wii U? That the market potential for indie releases is comparable to, if not bigger than, the Xbox One's?

NDAs and shit. If he said anything it could probably mean any contracts he signed are donezo and the money goes poof

He's being honest enough by saying the game has outside funding.

There's NDAs and shit.

Not into the art direction. At all.

This is why I play Castlevania. The continued animefying of the art pretty much pushed me out.

The art style is more colourfull and cartoony than I'd like, but then I listened to the two sample music tracks and backed the project immediately!

I know who it is, but wish they'd been transparent about it.

The only reason they weren't makes me think they think it's a liability.

My main concern, though, is that everyone understands that games cost money to make and have a sense of what the real budget of this game is.

IGA is getting the collective knowledge of all those games to build the ultimate greatest IGAVANIA

(on twitch, playing SC now)

Should backers be concerned of the potential visual fidelity Bloodstained will have considering Inti Creates also has a hand in that game?

Generally, I'd be willing to vouch that 2D Castlevania fans aren't indebted to the new standards of frame and pixel counting that dopaminergic and vapid gamers have demanded in the past 10 years.

That's in the pitch video, so it's not a secret.

There's a secret third music track - the song that plays during the Kickstarter video was composed by Michiru Yamane

Comcept?

It doesn't upset me at all. What upsets me is the game being potentially hamstrung because they have to make sure the game works on multiple engines.

If you look at Mighty Number 9, it couldn't use Unreal Engine 4 because they are making it on every known platform to man. I'd like to see this game actually take advantage of UE4 since it's a really amazing engine, Wii U pervades it from doing that.

I wonder who their publisher is. Deep Silver perhaps?

I don't know if 505 Games has $5 million to fund a game like this.

I'm kind of assuming it's a niche Western publisher given they wanted a kickstarter to even happen, but are willing to fund a bunch for a game like this.

DON'T reveal it to ANYONE

We don't want to ruin things
