Koji Igarashi Kickstarts Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (2.5D, backdash, 2018)

People really like IGA's games, for one.

People also resent the way Castlevania was managed after IGA's departure and Konami's actions in general, and I'm sure that's fueling a lot of people. They're giving money to IGA to spite Konami, just as they gave money to Inafune to spite Capcom.
I see. Makes sense with the context. It's just really impressive to witness.

I like it a lot, because you're giving them your money when the KS closes in 32 days instead of waiting until it's released to buy it. You're basically loaning Iga the money to help him make the game, it's almost a crowd-publishing strategy at this point because he already has some funding secured pending proof of demand for the final product. As someone who's helping publish the game, it's plenty fair that you get something over a person who wait until it's released and buys it then.
I'm absolutely fine with backers getting something over a person who waits for the retail release, such as CDs, artbooks, keychains, and so on. But actual content like a "super-powerful hidden boss"? Has any other kickstarter reserved game content just for backers? Skimming over Yooka-Laylee's page, it seems like the full game is more or less the same even if you don't back it, with the only notable difference being the deluxe version coming with a toybox experience.

That artstyle

It's Iga though....

My guess would be that if they felt they needed to release that content due to player demand that missed out on the KS they could release it as dlc...

Is there something I can do to stop this from happening? Is there some hotline to call? Surely IGA must be breaking some law or violating something. I can't let this happen.... :(

You are a bad person, good sir. Ignore the good sir part, bad sir.

(What did Iga ever do to you!?)

Die monster. You don't belong in this world!

Whatever Miriam says, she'll never beat Shanoa's "morning sun" line from OoE. Most badass moment in Castlevania history.

Second KS for a video game backed the day it goes up. Within a span of a few weeks.
Fuck it, was gonna wait, but I'll kick in 20 bucks till payday comes. Wish I had the balls to go for the artbook tier, but...bills n' stuff. And imported DMC4SE.

I'll wait for this to release before any commitments. The KS didn't quite sell me without a proof of concept.

I should go in for that 2000 pledge and name my weapon "Duckroll Slayer"

I hope it doesn't turn out like that Mega Man's guy game.

It probably will. These Japanese producers are no different from Richard Garriot and Peter Molyneux. Businessmen suits who survive off a legacy from decades ago, who know how to prey on the nostalgia of fans who have more money than sense.

But I'm sure no one backing it will mind. If you can convince yourself that Igavania games are good, it shouldn't be too hard to enjoy anything!
