Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement - Announcement Trailer | State of Play (Releases 2026)

Backed the original. Finished it, probably somewhere close to 100%.

But I always hated the art style and still remember the backer poll to pick between various styles. They were all bad.

The game itself always felt more clunky and slow that it should have been, I think.

All in all I don't think I'll bother with the sequel. I prefer the Curse games in this IP and other Metriodvanias for the genre.

I don't like the title. Scarlet Engagement?
Why not "Azure intimacy"? "Emerald Consultation"? "Crimson Arrangement"?

Lets hope the music is better as this trailer. In other words, i hope its the same composer as the prev ones (including castlevania)

Well have I got some news for you...

yeah I hope they do another one like that this time around as well,I also prefered the Curse of the Moon series compared to the 2.5D Bloodstained

I loved Curse of the Moon, but I heard the second one is bad with terrible level designs so I haven't played it yet.

While I prefer the first one I don't think the 2nd is bad or anything, never heard that sentiment about it. Definitely worth playing if you loved the first. It's just more Bloodstained.

For me the first felt more interesting overall in art design and characters which gives it the edge and also the fact that it was fresh as it was the first Bloodstained game I've played.

Looks much better than the first visually. Not really much to complain about. Unless you want to argue that it should be 2D, but a 2,5D game just isn't going to look much better than this. Metroid Dread and Prince of Persia looked cheap as hell too, but here I at least like the style a bit more.

I mean... a game like Klonoa 2 looked better than this, and that launched in 2001. It's the artistic choices that make these games look like shit. It is not a problem inherent to 2.5D games.

Doesn't look that hot, to be honest.
At least it looks like weapons may be more useful this time around. In BS1 I literally went through the whole game using 3 or 4 spells repeatedly on everything. Every weapon felt slow or weak or both.

BS1 was pure mediocrity, anyway. A SOTN copycat of which there are a dime a dozen, and not done better than too many others.

This takes place 100 years before Miriam, I think? That is a bummer. I wanted to see them expand on her after the events of the first game.

Disappointed Kevin Sorbo GIF

Why does Konami hate Castlevania? And why does Konami hate PC in particular? (Still no Steam version of Symphony of the Night).

I mean, yeah, I can play it an emulator, which works quite well, but still...
