Koji Igarashi Kickstarts Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (2.5D, backdash, 2018)

I wouldn't hire then because apparently they made the choice to make the physical version super limited because of how fast another super limited game they had sold through. Fuck that. I'm still salty as fuck that I can't get the ps4 physical version of Retro City Rampage.

Yeah, there simply not enough copies of RCR DX.

Worth keeping in mind, though, the risk was probably pretty high and more of a vanity project for Brian. It's crazy how successful the physical copies were.

While we're at it, more indie devs need to jump on this. Clearly there's demand for small, boutique pressings of games.

It's just like vinyl records, in a way.

I think people are largely forgetting what 'cheat code' means in the igavania universe.

Usually those cheat codes completely change the game. Like the 99 luck code in SotN. Or the Magician cheat code in CotM. Etc, etc.

Well, what they said in the stream explaining the cheat codes wasn't really reassuring tbh. They mentioned things like "big head mode" which would have gone better with the 40 achievement bonus of "silly cheat codes". So yeah, got me.

I went and did it... I hope Igarashi comes through on his promise. Also, duckroll slayer incoming? =o

I know I'm a little late on this. But damn, Shouta, didn't know you balled like that!

Duckroll slayer, make it so!

From the kickstarter comments ...
"Hey there folks!
Thank you so much for all of your incredible support! We're pretty overwhelmed (and incredibly sleep deprived) right now, but we'll respond to your questions and direct messages as soon as we're able to. We’re working as fast as we can to prepare more stretch goals, achievements, and unlocks—needless to say, this was a little unexpected!

Alright seriously -- so if these games are so unpopular, as developers claim, then why in the world do they appear to be this...popular? I really don't understand this, and it seems like it is true of many different 'unpopular' game genres, many of which have seen similar success on kickstarter (Pillars of Eternity?). It's just strange. I guess the reason is that developers don't see a 'modest profit', which must be the type generated by medium-popularity games like this, as good enough these days.

During the stream they gave an example of 'really bad voices'

I mean this is a fucking no brainer we got David Hayter now sky is the goddamn limit!

LOL I love me some cheese in my Castlevania.

Currently, the project is exclusive to PC, PS4, and Xbone.

These have a bit more power than WiiU and Vita.

I'm going to assume what they want to do (their ambitions) require a bit of power that's outside the scope of the the aforementioned 2 consoles.

I don't really want them to compromise on anything in order to bring it to more platforms.

Otherwise, I'm fine with them porting the game to as many platforms if those platforms can be true to the experience they intend.

The "1997 style voice acting" thing sounds like the best dumb thing ever though. I want to hear them just keep hayter's first takes and make that a mode of the game. Hilarity.

"shitty voice acting" mode sounds like a fantastic idea.

Hopefully the community backs it and it doesn't kill the kickstarter. Lemme check with loganclaws first.

I still can't really contain my hype. I am legit shook it not only met its goal so soon, but that it risks doubling it in hours.

The way Konami treated these types of games made me assume they were incredibly niche titles, like a Disgaea game or something. But the reception and support the game is getting is fucking crazy. Konami wishes the Lords of Shadow trilogy had this much enthusiasm and interest at this point. :P

Castlevania is dead. Long live NotCastlevania.

Yeah, they worded it like that? I must have misheard. Thought they were still talking about, or it could be amused that they were talking about, the physical version of the game gotten from kickstarter.

It seems pretty clear. If you want the exclusive Kickstarter content you have to back at least the $60 tier.

Actually listening to that, it's not clear that if you get the physical + digital edition that you will get the exclusive content included with the digital edition.

So I pledged for the physical version but wondering. It says PS4, Xbone, or Steam. The Steam part worries me. Why be physical if it's on steam. They better not give me a disk that's useless and a steam key with it. I'm hoping it's DRM-free

David Hayter mode: David voices EVERYONE. Or at least Miriam, like they joked around with a little bit too much on the stream for it to not potentially happen

Asking for Stretch Goals is port begging now?

FYI I have a PC. But would prefer to play it on my GamePad.

Yeah this makes no sense.

It's a game with stretch goals (which Wii U/Vita have been rumored as hidden stretch goals.)

This isn't a published game with hard features locked. Development's still up in the air. Nothing wrong with asking for more platforms.

Wii U please.

This or Yooka Laylee?

Igavania is to duckroll what ubisoft is to me, it seems. I understand how someone could hate something so much, shame that it's igavania though.

I understand too.

But he could use one post for this.

At least, he stopped.

BTW: This will reach $1m anytime now.
