Sony: "No concerns" about any lack of PS4 software this Holiday

Sony and Nintendo have a lot to prove if they want to go against Microsoft's decent holiday line-up.
I am looking forward to it.

For me personally, Mario Maker is a huge game. But I've always dreamed of making my own Mario levels or playing others custom made ones.

tearaway? fucking lol. they cant be serious. red flags just shot up all over the place as soon as they tried to name drop that. (°Д°)

You dun fucked up when Teraway is the game you mention as your big holiday title.

(Edit: I actually like Teraway a lot. But it's not that huge holiday title that most people get excited for)

Oh well, I like my PS4 a lot but Sonys first party output is awful. Luckily Black Ops 3 and Battlefront will save me this fall

Well any exclusive Sony release this Fall/xmas will be completely over shadowed by the above two games.

Why would studios bother to release games when going up against them?

Exclusives dont sell consoles, 3rd party games do so why would Sony be worried?

They have Battlefront, COD, Assassins Creed, Fifa and whtever else do come out this year

"There is plenty for gamers to get excited about already, such as Tearaway for PS4"

I highly doubt they're gonna announce something big for this Fall at E3. They're gonna try to sell the remasters and indie games. I can see No Man's Sky finally coming out.

The Uncharted Trilogy is likely, too.

I imagine they'll try riding this holiday out on Battlefront and the Star Wars hype generated by a new trilogy. I'm also betting that alone will be enough. NMS looks amazing to me, and after Witcher 3 it's my most anticipated game, but that's not enough for mass market appeal. Battlefront marketing should do the trick. I can see another 1080p/900p boasting session on the way...

I'm sure we'll see God of War and maybe even The Last Guardian at E3, but there's no chance of a big Sony exclusive being announced next month and released in another five. Any AAA games announced will be for next year at the earliest, and they'll have to hope they make a good enough impression that gamers will be happy to pick up a PS4 this holiday and enjoy the smaller games like Tearaway, Uncharted Remastered, and No Man's Sky, and be happy to wait for the big hitters next year.

Oh yeah.
For me Nintendo's year has been decent if we are getting just Yoshi, Mario Maker, MP10, and MvDK.
It will be interesting to see what holiday game Nintendo will try to pull out since Zelda is delayed. They need the Black Friday sales.

Personally for me, if we see Persona 5 hit PS4 this holiday, I will be happy.

I've been thinking NMS would be pushed into 2016, hopefully they will finally give a release date at E3. If Sony has any big news I have the feeling with will have "remastered" attached to it like the Uncharted trilogy.

Honestly, name dropping Tearaway and No Man's Sky as the "start of what is on the table right now" doesn't make the statement sound too convincing to me. Mostly because of the former, I guess. At least it sounds like reassurement that NMS won't get delayed, though I'm doubtful about that.

Naming Tearaway PS4 as a game to be excited for is :

E3 will bring the games I'm sure.

What? Sony should be ashamed of Tearaway?

I forgot Tearaway was supposed to be out this year! If that's a Christmas game, and gets some decent marketing, then that's brilliant. Best game on handhelds I've played this gen by a mile.

Hope there's more stuff announced at E3 too though. But still, I'd take Tearaway over Halo any day of the week.

This E3 is gonna be good.

What? Sony should be ashamed of Tearaway?

Not ashamed, but nothing to scream to the heavens about. It's a really interesting game, but really short and extremely easy. It's a good looking casual platformer.

It's always us or them saying "wait till E3". And every year E3 comes by, and it seems we are always let down. Why would this E3 be any different?

Hype level on reserve.

Tearaway is one of the best games I've played in years. Sorry if it isn't AAA enough for you :p

Seriously. Tearaway and NMS is more than enough for me, especially if it releases alongside Persona 5 and Star Wars Battlefront. Leading up to that, we'll have Metal Gear Solid 5 in September, and Amplitude, Dragon Quest Heroes and Rime somewhere in 2015.

As I haven't actually played Tearaway and love the look of No Mans Sky i'm not concerned either :p

Though I do hope Sony pull the genie out the bag at E3.

I'm personally not worried one bit as I have plenty of multiplatform games and digital games I look forward to this year on the system, much more so than any other system.

But the thing is, realistically, they can't possibly drop bombs on E3 for games that will come a few months later can they?

I am sure Sony will have a decent fall lineup.

Articles like this are kind of silly though. Sony would not come out and say yeah we are pretty fucked this fall if it turned out they had a weak fall line up.

I dunno. I'm not expecting a whole lot even after E3. The PS4 is going to sell super well anyway and I'm sure Sony knows that.

The Japan releases are looking good with Dragon Quest Heroes and Disgaea 5 confirmed. Persona 5 would be the icing on the cake.

I am expecting more than last year personally from each company except maybe Nintendo because Smash was a huge release.

People are worried about no exclusives, yet, FIFA/COD/AC/MADDEN are bestsellers each year holiday season.

Sure, everyone would like to have some exclusives, but I much rather have them spread out releases and not only focusing on Fall.
This. We will have enough to to play. Let the first party's get their games right and give it to us when they are ready

Seriously. Without announcing anything else, there's already several hundred dollars worth of PS4 games I want before the end of the year.

E3 2015
Sony Press conference.
suddenly there is absolutely silence.
a trailers comes up: The last guardian, release date: 27.10.2015.

That would blow my mind.

What? Sony should be ashamed of Tearaway?

No. I also don't think name dropping the remake of a niche Vita game—regardless of its quality—as an indication of what they have in store for the holiday season is indicative of anything grand.

Such cold reaction to Tearaway...

That love for 3D platformers is alive and well huh? As long as it's a sequel to a platformer you loved two decades ago.

Why? It doesn't say anything more than what it says.

It says plenty.

Those expecting Megatons or unannounced titles (outside of possible old gen ports) for xmas 15 to be revealed at E3 are just setting themselves up for disappointment.

Sony have (for whatever reason) really mismanaged their studios during this console transition, and as a platform holder there are zero excuse for that.

Yeeeahh I'm not too confident about Sony this year. Not that I don't expect them to ride it out fairly well considering how PS4 still isn't stopping in it's performance.

As for why there has been a lull in new PS4 game releases, Gara says it's about studios getting to grips with the hardware.

"My sense is that the new platforms have opened up the ambitions of developers and the capabilities of what they can achieve," he explained. "What has then happened since has been a bit of rushing to market and a couple of not perfect launches. That’s perhaps driven some conservatism to not overly force this and make sure we get it right - there's been an adjustment of pace.

I can sympathize with the statement but this is still funny to me to read considering a lot of people on GAF wouldn't stop criticizing Nintendo for using the same excuse.

The fact of the matter is that with the big 3rd party games coming out around Christmas, it really won't matter. Destiny sold more PS4's than any exclusive has sold for the PS4 or the Xbone. With the big marketing deal on Battlefront and maybe even COD, they really don't need huge exclusives. Having big exclusives in the spring of 16 maybe even work out much better for them. Sell more PS4's during a slower time of year and more room for the exclusives not having to go against a COD or Star Wars.

As much as it can be annoying for some PS4 owners, Sony doesn't need exclusives this holiday to sell PS4. It is selling as a de-facto console for multiplatform releases. That is, business wise, the best thing they could hope for. Now the question is: Is it to put their exclusives release for the months were no big release is happening... or are we set to see less 1st party output from them ? The former is more likely than the later though.

People who are worried: Are you really expecting a Sony exec to just jump the gun on a bunch of big E3 announcements in the middle of an interview?

WoW .. it's really mind boggling holiday lineup Sony .. cannot wait to play an indie game and a port from semi-indie 2013 ps vita game

This thread should be stickied in case someone makes another thraed asking about Sony's X-mas releases for PS4 :V

The problem with Nintendo was that they had no third party support to fill in the gaps. PS4 will have all the big 3rd party games this Christmas season.

Especially since they're not having a Gamescom conference, E3 is very important this year for Sony. Definitely keeping a close eye on what they're bringing. If it's anything like how great the PlayStation Experience was, I'll be very happy, I think.
