The Witcher 3: Is your system ready - Nvidia official system requirements

i3-550
6 gb ram
Hd 7870

Chances of the game supporting an i3 ( I know min is a quad core, but a lot of games say that)?

Nope and I don't think it will until either there's another huge jump in core efficiency or developers start pushing and requiring more cores. It also helps that Sony and MS put such a weak CPU in their consoles.

I'm curious to see if Skylake will finally persuade me to upgrade.

I'm in same boat CPU wise, but I have OC'd mine to 3.8GHz. Based on this bench I'm very interested to see what happens come Tuesday night :b

Looking forward to hear your thoughts on performance! I do feel slightly creepy though, now that I added your profile to my favorites bar. It will be kinda amazing if my 2009 rig still got some fight in it for a graphical powerhouse 6 years later.

Off-topic slightly, but GOG currently offers me a download split into 7 parts for this game. Is there some easier way of downloading it?

I have a 760. I'm gonna have to live with a 30fps lock aren't I.

The official recommended is a 770. If you're fine with lowering some settings you could probably pull off 60 FPS somehow.

And hey, a locked solid 30 would probably be better than what we've seen of the other two version, day one patch aside.

I currently have a GTX 680 but I'm so tempted to order a GTX 970 now. I get a bonus in a month's time and there's talk of price cuts around then too so it would make sense to wait ... but I could put it on my credit card now and be playing The Witcher 3 "properly" if I bought the 970 now ....

Also I want Arkham Knight too, so even with a price cut, I'd still have bought TW3 and AK anyway so not sure how much a price cut would affect me.

Think of it as a $100 price cut already.
So... I'll probably play this on ultra with no Hair works. Hoping for near 60fps at 1080p, but I'll likely have to turn some settings down. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see what fellow 970ers are doing, as I'm new to this kind of fiddling.

Hold strong! New and exciting things should be announced early next month. Or if you can't hold strong buy an EVGA card so you could take advantage of the step-up program from them when the new cards come out.

If I remember I will be posting about initial performance experiences. Going in with i5 750 @ 3,8GHz and 760 2GB, will be interesting.

That chart at the end is hilarious (but a good way to drum up some 900 sales). I'm sure my 760 will be fine.

GTX 660 here. Hopefully I can do 1080p30FPS high-ultra settings without too much of a problem.

I'll be using a gtx 660 as well. except I'm only hoping for low-medium settings, considering the 660 was their 'minimum requirement'. I just want to play the damn game. If it could hit high then hell that's a bonus, no reason to upgrade my video card for another year.

I had a deal 1 GTX 980 MSI 560 € 2 GTX 980 MSI 860 €, so now i feel a little bit less stupid for my overpowered and unneeded GPU.

Hope for a game that has not the same problem with saves as there was in the witcher 2

which saves problem in tw2? THe crashing or something else?

got gtx 960 so i guessing i can playy on high since 1920 1080
just bought bunch of upgrades for my comp including the graphic card super excited

The fact that by the end of the game, you had approximately 2^16 saves in your save folder.

Haha, I remember this. I loved that fact about it but thought it was weird that it was in there. But after beating W2 and then playing W1 I discovered they did that before too so it's what they like. I rarely if ever will need to go back to a save that took place 10+hours before. But I looked at it more as a scrapbook and it actually helped me enjoy the game a bit more. Plus you could always go and delete them from the folder pretty quickly.

when i had more than 14 saves, there was : intro video than main screen and load, the list of saves and than click ------> CRASH ahahahaha but no problem i solved the problem using another folder for most of saves and i disabled the AUTOSAVE

i don't know if someone remember but the witcher 2 made a saves folder of 500 MB in 7 hours of game......

my GF is replaying the game right now, an dif she tries to go to the menu to load a save whilst playing the game crashes every single time no matter what. Also, the game freezes for about 10 seconds on loading the "load" menu for some reason (even though it is on an SSD).

The save system was just... not very good in TW2.

My 7850 HD won't be serving me well for this game, so now we'll have to decide. Get the PS4 version for € 55, or get a GTX 970 for € 380 with The Witcher 3 and Batman for free.
I wish I had plenty of cash so that decision would be easy...

Definitely a problem with W2. I had to go in there several times my last playthrough to clear out the old saves, because it takes longer and longer to loadup the save/load menu the more saves you have.

It was quick to manually save, I'll give them that. Start menu > hit Save game > done. I still prefer an actual save menu like most games have. In pillars of eternity when you hit save game if you scroll to the bottom of your saves, to the oldest ones, each time you load the save menu it remembers where you were at, which allows you to very quickly save over the old saves at the bottom. Like a FIFO system, first in/first out. Much better.

Dragon age: inquisition on the other hand started your selection on the save menu at the very top, your newest saves. They also made the scroll speed to get to the bottom of the saves too slow, so I just ended up clicking save on new slot each time, which given the large amount I save the game, just bloated my save folder and slowed the menu down. Stupid save menu design is stupid.

is amazing how , we gamers, are always watching for 5 $ less price on a game, but we do not care to spend nearly 900 € for two GPU for the same game.

i really think there is something wrong in this.

As for TW2 i think i'll give a speed run tonight just to refresh few things, and yes saves were not so good

This weekend I'll be going from a 770 to a 980.

Let's see if that improves my performance any.

It's an upgrade, but it's a minor one. I recommend waiting for the next generation of cards, or at least the rumored 980ti. I mean, I love my 980, but I upgraded from a 680. I'd probably wait if I had a 770.

That's what I'm doing. As much as I want to jump to a 970 or 980 I see no benefit with the new cards from Nvidia and AMD right around the corner. I'll get by with probably medium to high settings with shadows turned off which is fine for me.

I'm having a hard time deciding whether I should purchase a GTX 970 G1 or wait and play this and upcoming games with my broken 7970 (broken PCI lanes cause it to work at 4x speeds instead of 16x causing around 20FPS loss).

The deal of the 970 G1 with Witcher and Batman codes is insanely good, since I intend to buy these two games but something in the back of my head tells me I should rather wait for newer cards, announcements, etc. Also the fact that I'd be buying a card that's around 8 months old, granted it is a beast of a card and for the money it's the best you can get but still I'm concerned about upcoming games like Battlefront, I'm not sure I'll it will be able to pull 60 FPS on 1080p maxed out.

I'm really on the fence here and I don't know what to do, what do you guys think?

I have a 970 and 16 gigs of RAM.

Also I have an 8320.

It's the 8320 that's gonna get me, isn't it?

Well we have some early reports that the game is not CPU heavy, and that it scales well with the extra cores. From the Nvidia dude himself.

Overclock that thing and don't look back, I'm sure you'll do fine.
