Cool artwork! What game?

GBP via Component Cables + Swiss into an Sony PVM-20L5

If you keep the screen mode on normal instead of "full" on the GBP and increase the width/height of your tv's video you will not sacrifice any quality at all. It looks gorgeous.

I will probably post MSX screens soon as well. Can't wait to see what it looks like!

Oh my! You've got an MSX? That's pretty dope.

Yep, just recently. I got myself a 60hz copy of MG in English as well, so I'm excited as heck to play that. I know that it's easily playable on the HD Collection but I wanted to use the actual MSX and the physical game itself. I got a Scart cable too since I didn't want to run composite on it.

Sounds perfect. If you could post pics of your MSX hardware/cable/physical game in some thread, I'd love to see it.

We got the middle one, never the first or the third, lol...

OT: PCE really shines via RGB, I need to get my DUO sorted soon...

Ah yea, wasn't sure if it was the first or second.

Yea, PCE looks amazing via RGB - played some Rondo last night. Instagram optimizes the images a bit but you get the idea:

Of course! My MSX will come in probably around a week from now, at least I hope so.

That looks extremely delicious.

My pants just exploded, and I'm at work.

I have a 20" CRT at home, and I think it might be time to start taking some shots. This thread is bringing back all the wow from late middle through high school.

Minus the Saturn stuff though...that was college.

So basically... it's time for me to get a PCE or TG16? Yep... it appears that way.

It is the light and the way. I don't play any other system as much as I play the PCE.

PCE is a lovely system. I'm still rocking composhit on my IFU tho, THE SHAME :(

My Duo R hasn't been RGB'd yet and it's becoming increasingly sad given that my PCE library continues to grow in such wonderful ways.

I need to bite the bullet and do it.

Almost got the geometry perfect on my 32" Sony Trinitron. I can't quite get the top overscan and curve to go away without getting a white line on the right hand side.

Those look awesome, what are your scanline settings? Output 720p or 1080p?

Thanks! I'm outputting at 720p, can post my exact scanline settings when I get home. They are a bit darker than normal since I'm roughly 7 feet from the TV (46 inch). I haven't updated the firmware yet since I'm happy with my current settings, looks great across all systems.

GAF>Internet>GAF. Someone on FB just alerted me that this thread was covered on two websites.

Apparently, this thread is considered to be a reason to get up in the morning.

Also. 240P SIND ALLES, WAS ICH BRAUCHE (whatever that means).

Congrats everyone. Let's continue the good work. I hope to fix my broken links tomorrow (sorry about that) and add some new shots this weekend. Cheers!

Edit: those look gorgeous sixteen-bit :)

That's more than a little amusing.

RetroGAF making itself known.

Have there been any images of the CRT shaders running at 4k? Very curious to see what that would look like, especially comparison shots.

This thread makes me really jealous but on the other hand I can't get enough of scanline goodness.

Question for those of you who use the Framemeister - does it add any noticeable input lag? I was actually pretty surprised that my new Samsung HD TV (bought last year) in its "game mode" had pretty much no lag on my retro consoles when I gave them a try. Getting a framemeister is a possibility (if I won't get lucky with a good CRT) but I'm a bit wary of the lag.

The XRGB Mini processes analog signals pretty much better than any HDTV out there.
Is the best way to go if you want to play classic consoles on an HDTV.
It might add 1 or 2 frames of input lag, but definitely does it better than any TV.

Does any one know where to get PS1 RGB 21 Cables?

All games below are running on a Sony PVM-20M4U.

Mischief Makers, Nintendo 64, S-video
This game has one of my favorite intros. It looks better than ever. The glow/flash transition of Sasquatch and Phoenix needs to be seen to be appreciated.

Super Mario World and Mystical Ninja, Nintendo Wii VC, Component

Super Mario Bros, SMB3, AV Famicom, Composite
Hopefully this week I'll send it off for the RGB mod! Still looks pretty good in person.

The CRT filter in Rare Replay is pretty awesome.

It's a very bad filter imitating an unrealistic and unnecessarily awful CRT. It's too blurry. It has weird jagged scanlines. The screen curvature is too exaggerated when a real curved creen is barely noticeable to the person immersed in viewing it. Edge distortion is excessive to the point of being silly and distracting. That fading white gradient around the edges is hideous, cheap-looking and fake.

Quality TVs were common during the era of these old games. CRT emulation should reflect that rather than do a bad job of mimicking hardware on the verge of failure.

In an effort to wash the awful taste of those Rare Replay shots out of my mouth, I took a couple of shots of Marvel Vs. Capcom on the Dreamcast, using the Hanzo VGA Box.

These were taken on a shitty LCD monitor (that I can't wait to get rid of) with an iphone, but they still look pretty good:

It's kinda mindblowing how good the Hanzo makes the Dreamcast's output -- I've never seen anything like it. MVC looks insanely good when you see it in person, and the audio quality is pretty nuts, too.
