Gawker put up an article accusing Louis CK of sexual misconduct

Allegations sort of remind me of that Olivia Munn story about Brett Ratner's shrimp-grease-lubed dong-throttling.

Such embarrassing, boring sexual deviancy. At least like be into something cool like dominatrixes or something. Touching yourself inappropriately such a lame kink.

Nice talking with you, then. I learned nothing of value from our encounter.

, he said, pettily.

Yet that is my difficulty with your outlook. If, for instance, we have a scenario where some circumstantial evidence is presented regarding Louis' sexual misconduct, and it gains widespread traction in the media and public opinion, only later to be proven false, we would nevertheless have a situation where the accused is considered guilty in the public eye of a crime he didn't commit. Even though he's innocent, he may as well be guilty insofar as his reputation is concerned. His name is tarnished through no fault of his own.

I can't help but think of Michael Jackson. He was acquitted of child molestation charges, but he still carries the stigma from the accusation, even in death. That's not fair or just, and is something that I find deeply unsettling. While I don't claim my approach is perfect, it's an attempt to withhold judgement in case the consensus of the rabble turns out to be wrong.

do you think oj simpson is really innocent of murder? or that the cop who choked eric garner to death didn't break the law since he wasn't prosecuted?

legality != morality

Only thing that makes me suspicious is that podcast link. Can't really trust some iPhone emails without verification.

It would be one thing if the women themselves had accused him of doing that, but right now, all we have is hearsay. Gawker should not have even put up the story.

Hilariously dumb to speculate based on what amounted to a Gawker "journalist" continuing a game of telephone. People could do with a bit more skepticism in their daily lives, especially where click-bait shitholes of the internet are concerned.

Let's play "compare GAF's reactions to C.K. and Cosby allegations and see who gets the benefit of the doubt".

Not giving either the benefit of the doubt. If these allegations of Louis C.K. are true: To the bushes with him with Cosby.

Thinking he was joking (that’s exactly the kind of thing this guy would say), the women gave a facetious thumbs up. He wasn’t joking. When he actually started jerking off in front of them, the ladies decided that wasn’t their bag and made for the exit. But the comedian stood in front of the door, blocking their way with his body, until he was done.

Lol I don't believe this horse shit for a second.

Patrice O'Neal would have known exactly what to make of this. It would have probably been something akin to "Yeah, I saw Louis do that shit. What, y'all didn't know?".

Gawker gonna gawk. Those events, ironically, sound as ridiculous as the average Louis CK stand-up bit. I'm wondering how this will develop, if it develops.

I too just read a three year old gawker article about this very thing. I should let CK know how upset I am and that I'm a former fan. Maybe he'll call me too?

until I see a little more meat to the allegation, I'm going to put this in the "lalala i refuse to believe this no pls no" pile.

Can't really decide anything for certain, but dude definitely has some darkness in him (like any comedian). I mean Jesus look at the material on his show, has gotten progressively darker in content since the first season, dude has some demons. Last episode was some legit through the looking glass exploration of his subconscious, with some certifiably spooky imagery. Sure that stuff could've just been made up for the sake of "art" or whatever, but I have a feeling a lot of his show's content is pretty autobio. Okay maybe not seeing a homeless person being decapitated by a truck...

9-5 worker, and part-time Comedian, "Jason," probably isn't funny. Louis C.K. is funny, so until more substantial evidence comes to light, I'm gonna call bullshit for clicks.

Also, I gravely miss Patrice O'Neal.

One has several women coming forth about stories of a man raping them, which had to backing to it, while one only has a gawker article based of flimsy rumors.

Yeah, they're totally the same.

withholding judgement for now, but for me at least, the number of people jumping to CK's defense is pretty shocking. i thought most of us were beyond needing a fucking rape kit to verify claims of sexual abuse

obviously i am not advocating locking CK up and throwing away the key, but come on: there is nothing wrong -- legally or otherwise -- with bringing these claims to light

No proof, no sources willing to come forward, not giving the accused person opportunity to respond.. ...no, sorry. Not going to buy it untill there's something to back it up.

People are jumping to his defense because there's no proof, literally no proof, of any of it and Gawker isn't above publishing bullshit rumors for clicks. The Cosby thing is different because there was a history there and actual real people accused him. If this was in a reputable paper or news show that's one thing, Gawker isn't those things.

This is "he said she said" only without the "he" or "she." There's literally no sourcing going on.

The amount of people immediately believing a Gawker article, where the guy who wrote the article is asking for people to send him any rumors they can find, is embarrassing.

If this is true, then eww to Louis CK and shame on him. I hope he gets what's coming to him. But the likelihood of this being true based off all the "evidence" and "proof" that are in this article is less that 10% in my opinion. Hell, even having multiple women accusing him like what happened with Cosby would be enough, but we don't even have that. Just an article based on rumors from a site known for posting lies. Quit being gullible.

I saw Louis CK at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

But that was Huey Lewis!

Should have gave him shit for buying Milky Way candy bars. They are for Casuals, like a Snickers, except neutered and without the nuts.

ITT people see allegations as fact.

IMO this is just an article a person wrote and doesn't seem to contain any substance to the rumors they provide.

In one hand we have a poorly-sourced article with outrageous allegations, in the other we have a completely believable story about yet another man with some small amount of power sexually harassing women that we are basically forced to believe until proven otherwise.

One allegation -- I'll hold my nose and squint but won't say what I'm thinking. Two? We got a problem. Three? Bye.

Sorry that's the way it works now. Thanks reality.

This sounds both unbelievable in that I would think a story like this would have been posted already but also completely believable at the same time. Just because I always imagined there might be a weird asshole side to CK that would act like this.

Forget the evidence for now. Just find an accuser. If there’s a bare minimum to publish stuff like this, let’s make it that: there at least has to be an accuser.

Found that gem in the comments. Anyone in here actually agree with that line of thinking?

I have no idea how to handle stuff. On one hand, I never want to be supporting a sexual abuser, and I don't want to potentially be discrediting victims. On the other hand, this isn't substaiated at all and I feel weird rushing to judgement, but I can't just pretend I didn't read about this.
