Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae 2.0 update coming in early June

since it's a bit delayed, I hope the are also sorting out the frame rate drops.

edit: and yea thank you kagari. The Cidney talk shit shouldn't belong in this thread.

I hope there are noticeable imrpovements in all aspects. I want to believe in FF XV but so far I can't.

Is there a chance that they'll make it available to people that didn't get the first version somehow?

Hahahaha it's gonna be nonstop comments on not having Cindy discussions now!

In all seriousness though if you STILL need to vent after half a year, go make a separate topic and keep it there. Like Witcher downgrade topic.

Really curious as to how much of a difference the changes make. If they positively change the way the camera pans around during battle and fix the awkward targetting, I can resume my hype.
Heard they'll be adding in a manual dodge as well, that auto-dodge wasn't really enjoyable to use.

Cool, will wait for it. Is there a guide for the demo yet btw? It seems like I need to find more swords and
a summon
to have a crack at the Behemoth that doesn't involve me spamming normal attacks for 20 minutes and I don't feel like wandering around for eternity for a demo.

Hoping the combat system feels...right with the changes they make. I was alright at first, but the lack of animation cancels was pretty bleh, and the bossfight...I guess you really, really need that
summon
because seriously it took FOREVER to even try it with normal attacks and the specials I currently had.

There always was a manual dodge in Episode Duscae. Specifically, one that also consumed MP and was higher level than a non-warping, non-MP-consuming manual dodge which was also planned for the game, but wasn't in Duscae due to reasons. (we hypothesize it's configurable a-la abilities in Kingdom Hearts)

I've already forgotten about most of the stuff they talked about updating in the last ATR so it'll be a nice surprise. Is it just gonna be applied like a normal game update/patch?

The demo gave me waypoints for pretty much everything. I never had to explore a thing (and it never really made sense to me where I had to go anyway).

Well, it's pretty simple actually:
1. Go to quest markers
2. Go and fight Behemoth the first time and run away when you get rekt.
3. Go to Chocobo station and Wiz will tell about the cave.
4. Go to the cave and obtain the summon from there.
5. Go back and fight Behemoth, and use summon to insta kill the behemoth.
6. Go back to Cidney and pay up.

If you want to cover everything, you can try this 100% walkthrough.

Gives me an excuse to play through again. I was worried that they would push it back futher and try to make it an E3 thing, which would've been underwhelming.

YES!!!!!!!!
OMG! yes!

and whatever this guy said!

交渉お疲れ様です!!!!!楽しみに待ってますね!

can't wait to roll around

I was hoping a fresh run through the demo after the update would tide me over until E3.... Now It's just one more thing to wait for :/

Can't wait to try the improvement. I would've liked if they patched in a tiny portion of the magic system but it seems not.

I'm genuinely shocked people needed guidance to finish this demo ? It's super obvious what to do.

Wasn't there something already like a roll? Is that being replaced with this or will there be both?

If my internet connection wasn't a turgid whale at the moment I'd scroll through the ATR where Tabata and his programmer talks about this. But yes, both are in the game. As would a shit ton of other movesets we haven't seen yet. like the accidental aerial dive stuff.

(Whether both dodge rolls are represented in 2.0 we don't know yet)

Not for players in Japan apparently, the confusion about what they need to do was one of the main reasons people quit playing

New changes include:

  • Animation cancelling
  • Manual dodge roll
  • Improved camera
  • Improved targeting system
  • More group combos
Anything else?

Well I guess they needed more time to fix the plethora of bad things in the demo harhar. I doubt it'll make me actually like it (whatever it is they change/improve) because there was too much I disliked, but I'll still give it a go when they update it.

Ah, so many defensive options.

Weird a demo having an update.

It is weird, but it's also kind of cool (assuming this isn't a diversionary time sink for the development team).

Pretty much unprecedented, at least on consoles I believe.

As someone who liked the combat "feel" on Duscae 1.0, very curious whether I'll dig it as much (or more) in 2.0.

Would be cool to have some extra sidequests to do. Got a bit bored collecting things and levelling up to fight the behemoth normally. I'm not expecting it though.

Is there a way to get this game still?
It was supposed to be avaiable from digital copies of Type 0 for 2 months from what Kagari said, so it either expired yesterday or you have until tomorrow to grab it.

Aside from that, you gotta luck out on a first print copy somewhere.
