Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae 2.0 update coming in early June

I'd guess many of the changes were on a "to-do" list at the time of the demo release and just didn't make it in. There is still value in opening up a survey for feedback, to make sure what people want and what is on your "to-do" list is lined up. Don't want to be making assumptions and be way off base.

Looking forward to the update, will gladly play through again.

The camera has to be patchable. I can't believe it's stayed the way it is lol.

yea it's shocking that they haven't patched the camera. It's like they don't give a shit.

I will probably have to play it with that shitty camera blur.

Will this demo be free, or will it be included with the $80 day one edition of Final Fantasy: Type-1?

what are you talking about? They are patching the demo people already got with Type-0. It's not a new thing.

Focus testing your game to shoehorn pseudo character action mechanics in your game is not a good thing. Going this route is just going to make your game feel like a cheap knock off of dmc, where the devs clearly don't know how to make it, so they're just adding whatever fans tell them to.

Adding a dodge roll makes the game a cheap DMC knock off? Right... Like Kagari has said multiple times, a lot of what they are adding were planned from the beginning.

It's like they had an idea for an original battle system for a FF game, but since it's FF they can't take too much risks with different ideas, so they have to back down and make it more like other games by focus testing it.

They have already taken a big risk by making it real time combat in a series that has always been turn based, or quasi-turn based. When it was Final Fantasy Versus XIII the whole "Versus" idea was to go against what traditional Final Fantasy games: such as the transition from the JRPG combat to the real time combat.

I just got Type-0 but haven't redeemed the code yet.

What's this about it ending today or tomorrow? The code says it's good for a year...

Type 1?

They are updating the demo from Type-0 It's not going to be public released.

I'm dumb lol, sorry. Thought it was a new demo and not just a patch.

They mentioned a strong focus on the camera system and battle mechanics. I'm hoping that there's another round of feedback in case the updates still fall short. Those are really important if anyone will play the game for hours and hours.

The whole Stella/Luna thing will play out like
Tales of Zestiria.

Stella is introduced, but abruptly leaves and is replaced by Luna, but all her abilities and DLC costumes work for Luna. You then can purchase DLC and play as Stella on her own adventure.

This phrasing irked me.

Then I will boycott the game. :P

Anyways are we getting ATR this month? I hope they show some changes to 2.0 I really want to see it.

Oh great, there's going to be another 30+ threads arguing about how Square ruined a character that we know next to nothing about isn't it?

Then any thread that have screen shots with Luna in it will be derailed with "....wish it wa Stella" or "Stella is better.".

But seeing SE having no faith in their battle systems (which is the one thing they've been nailing since last gen) is sad.
Curious to know, how you ever played kingdom hearts one?
If yes, would you like final fantasy XV to play like that?
Everyone ( well, many people) loved KH.

Framerate boost with 5-10 frames per second in most cases would be great. I love forward to this demo update and seeing the changes in motion.

Hope they are able to improve the XB1 version significantly for XB players.

Lower res and frame rate than the ps4 version already at this stage. Not painting a good picture.

I think they probably saw Dynasty warriors 6 and realized that if you change your battle system too much fans will reject it, and if SE has one thing they dont want in FF is for people to reject it, with all the years and money spent into this product, they are going to want to please alot of people and want to not piss many people off(although that will happen regardless) SE cant afford to pull another FF13-2/lightning returns and alienate fans of the FF series again.
Oh, I know, I'm not in their plans. And liking or not, this game is no longer for me. FF is a mainstream series and should be kept that way, if focus testing your game guarantees your series remain alive and well, then go for it. It's just that what made the FF13 series so controversial (for lack of a better word) was not the battle system. So I don't see why they have to focus test that of all things.

threelights, you were saying in numerous threads how Tabata said they'll change the combat if fans whine about it.
(...)
I got that from the ATRs.

And I don't think they "shrugged off" complaints. out of the 15 biggest complaints, the ones that were not really addressed was:
AI is dumb - they "shrugged off" this by saying it was still a WIP.
Slow movement - Tabata said that fast moments are still in, but they're mostly for set pieces. I'm going to add my two cents and say that they can't get the game running properly if you were fighting like that against every single enemy... Or even that it is unmanageable to fight at those speeds once you get all the gameplay systems in.

The rest was all addressed.

I think I can summarize this in two objective facts:
- 2.0 was already planned, and presented at the end of the ATR (or, more accurately, when the ATR was recorded). Obviously at that point, a lot of the changes or planned changes were already set in stone.
- Tabata said the ATR was the first he was exposed to the results of the survey, and was thus a little nervous/excited/etc.
If you were to take Tabata at face-value (and this does seem to be the basis of your complaints) based on those two points, I don't know how you can conclude that 2.0 was largely based on changing the game to suit survey feedback. The sequence of events doesn't add up.
- 2.0 was so set in stone that there's two changes where they're not even sure themselves if they'll put it in.

And I'm not saying 2.0 specifically was changing the game based on feedback. I'm saying the whole game will be. It's not a matter of "oh, the demo was focus tested once". It's the fact that they focus tested it once, decided to already make relatively big changes to it's gameplay and that they'll be focus testing the game more in the future. (and for those who want a source for this, just go watch the last ATR, for when they say that they should do more of these surveys once 2.0 comes out and in future events too).

The game is not a "cheap version of DMC" right now. But they will keep focus testing the game until it becomes that... 2.0 was just a proof that they indeed will go those lengths.

Adding a dodge roll makes the game a cheap DMC knock off? Right... Like Kagari has said multiple times, a lot of what they are adding were planned from the beginning.
Read the sentence right above the quote.

If yes, why can final fantasy play like that?

Everyone ( well, many people) loved KH.
Yes, I love KH1. I played the original PS2 version.

And if FF played like that I would be happy. That's how VXIII was supposed to play like, but they decided to change it. What we have now is not anything like KH, so when you start adding KH elements to it... It becomes this Frankenstein thing that is just bad.

Didn't they say they were adding in a few joint attacks to 2.0? I'm especially excited for this as Tabata keeps citing them as a great way to speed up combat. Hopefully some of them are activated at will rather than just through parrying, because man it feels great when one of your companions helps you out in this game.

Really want to see stuff like the flame strike and cross slash combos with Ignis.

Well if they're gonna be so careful as to patch it(to make more representative of the final game) ,then they should make this demo available to everyone closer to release.

I don't see why this demo has to be restricted, after all the effort and exposure it received.

even the demo patch got delayed
